This is my go to place when I want to have a relaxing lunch on a sunny day. I love to watch the kite-surfers, joggers, ducks... always something fun to look at. The food is very good and presented beautifully. Service is professional and friendly.
Drinks took to long to arrive, wait staff appeared to have too many tables they were Responsible for.
The server named Avery was wonderful accommodating and apologetic about the delay which with greatly appreciated
Most disappointing Anniversary dinner in my 28 years of marriage. The only thing Resort about this place was in the Name. Slow to be served, at 6:30 ordered 2 or the special Swordfish dinners only to find out 15 minutes later that at 6:30 on a Friday during Lent, they were sold out of the Swordfish as the chef didn't plan for the "Set Menu Dinner" for 25 that were in a side room. Not so elegant atmosphere, along with the poor service from the chef, caused us to leave and go have a wonderful meal at
The restaurant is nice and quiet but it is overrated and over priced. Good service but the food was ok.
What a beautiful restaurant. Amazing service by Moses and team!!! Felt like a total VIP!!
Food was great. My only thing... I wish I had chosen outdoor dining. It was a little chilly, but that view all dinner would have been worth it. I was close to the window so had a beautiful view anyway :)
The food was cold and over priced for what it was. The service was lacking and slow. It is a good location and nice view but the menu is so over priced and disjointed, it’s not worth the spend. Go to a really nice steakhouse. You’ll pay the same and have better food.
The restaurant had lovely décor and a very nice ambiance. For our taste, the food was terribly over-salted. The service was acceptable, but we were left sitting an exceptionally long time after finishing our meal waiting for the bill even though the restaurant was not very busy when we were there. Finally, we do not live in San Diego, but we learned that it is the practice of some restaurants, Acqua being one, to tack on a 3.5% surcharge to cover the rise in the minimum wage, and then, adding insult to injury, the surcharge is taxed. At the very least, this practice should be well documented so that patrons are not surprised when they receive their bill. Will not return in the future.
This is a must-eat restaurant when visiting San Diego. The location is outstanding and the outdoor seating is fabulous, along with the food and ambience. As for the food, I highly recommend their appetizers....they are gourmet and to die for!
Spacious room with water views. Tables for some reason are really big - we moved one place setting to the side so we could hear each other. Another couple at the next table took our cue and did the same. Wait staff are friendly and helpful. I ordered the fish special and was unable
to eat it as it was tough and uncooked. I just sent the whole meal back and ordered something else which was perfect - scallops wrapped in bacon with lobster potato and shrimp . Quite delicious. My husband had the flat iron steak which was served with spinach and fries. He enjoyed it a lot. We shared a chocolate mousse with cherries for dessert. Very rich.
They did not charge us for the first fish dish and comped our dessert which was completely unexpected. The people at the next table also ordered the fish special - ate the vegetables and left the fish so it wasn't just me ! Returned for breakfast here the next morning and had scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and tomato with an English muffin. All nicely done. A whole pot of coffee is served with enough cream for several mug fulls. This is a nice hotel restaurant.
Great food, view and service. It was the 1st time eating there for my daughter-in-law she enjoyed the restaurant and the food. I've eaten there many times over the years the food and service have been consistently good.
Great food! Great view! great service! Expensive and very small portions.
This was a get together with friends, one of which was recently widowed. We wanted a quiet restaurant where we could talk and not have to compete with loud voices. It was extremely quiet as we were the only group eating inside as everyone else was outside. The manager was kind enough to compensate us with desserts for having a couple of lights worked on near our table. Our waiter, William was outstanding, very friendly, made excellent recommendations and was very attentive.
Over priced and though the restaurant was only moderately busy the service was not up to standard. I verymuch object to being charged a surcharge. Tips are in order if the service is exemplary. The additional charge to cover"minimum wage legislation" plus a surcharge and a splace on the bill for a tip is excessive.
Delightful, especially by nice weather: the terrace by the Bay is perfect. Service was very good and the food delicious and beautifully presented
We invited friends for a late lunch/early dinner to thank them for a recent favor. They live out of town and were delighted with the ambiance. We all enjoyed our food and the service was solicitous. There are a number of items designated as gluten free (which 2 of the 4 of us needed), and some other dishes can be made gluten free upon request. I will say the prices are on the high side and the portions for the most part modest.
Mission Bay at night, good family seating, Sea World views and fireworks. Attentive server's and varied cuisine at moderate prices. I start with the squash and lobster soup, and sword fish entrie, good portions. Did I mention the wine and cocktail bar was first rate. This hidden gem on the Bay is a must try for both in & out if towers.
We were supposed to spend our thanksgiving dinner with this restaurant. The restaurant closed at 10~ but we were able to make a reservation at 11pm. We went to the restaurant all over from Oceanside, but it closed. We spoke with the FrontDesk manager, they were surprised the restaurant closed. Too much surprises on a holiday.
We were staying at the resort over Thanksgiving and had our Thanksgiving meal here. The fixed price was $49 per plate and the meal we were served was worth half of that, maybe. This restaurant is way over priced and I would not recommend it to anyone.
Where do I start? We arrived on time and ate on the patio. Our waiter was a disaster. Service was miserable. He presented the check and then I told him it was a birthday,(I told the restaurant when I made the reservation. ) He said o.k., , and then we waited and waited, after that we just left and gave him a small tip for his poor service. Would not come back. We have celebrated a birthday in the past with no problems, and were looking forward to our lunch celebration.
We made so many last minute changes to our reservations. We increased from 5-10, wanted a long evening with a private dining room for business meeting .
It was a fantastic experience! The Executive Chef even came in to greet our guests and make recommendations. Our wonderful server Michelle was a jewel in every way. I will make this my go to spot in San Diego when entertaining.
The request for gluten-free food for one guest was readily accomodated, but the food was precious, the portions tiny, and the wine list prices awesome.
Service was slow. Took 30 min from time of order to app service (raw and soup) but Ok after the apps. Food Ok. We were asked if we would like bread but were not told that it would cost $5 for four pieces. First restaurant I have been to that has charged for bread.
We had a wonderful dinner during restaurant week. After a delicious cocktail at the bar, we were seated at a beachside table with gorgeous view of the bay. We started with the Proscuitto with Quail Eggs (delicious!) and Tuna Tartar (pretty but a bit bland) and added the Clams (awesome!) as a third appetizer. For dinner we ordered the Quail and Steak with Proscuitto wrapped shrimp. Both were wonderful, and accompanied by a few great glasses of wine. We were so full that we opted to take our dessert course (lemon cheese and Hazelnut Crepes- both delicious!) to go. The entire meal, service and experience were exquisite!
The view is beautiful and our server was very nice and doing his best. It seemed the restaurant may have been understaffed. The food was average. The best part of my meal was the butternut squash soup and while the flavor was very good, the consistency was very thin. I have never had such thin butternut squash soup anywhere. My swordfish with risotto was average. The fish was cooked properly but the risotto had flavor problems. The lemon in the risotto was a bit overpowering. My dining partner stated the chicken was 'okay' . He really loved the apple tart saying that was the best part of his meal. Maybe it was just an off night- this was our first visit here.
The wine list did live to his reputation. The food not at the same level. For this price category, you could expect more. Nine Ten is way, way better. We had a huge mishaps with our service. As the waitress opened the bottle, she unfortunately spilled the wine on the shirt of my husband. They tried to clean it but the wine spots didn't go away. They told us that we could send them the dry cleaning costs. We'll see how it works. We got a dessert free. One could have expected a bigger discount for this disagreement . My husband had to take off his shirt and to eat only with his jacket...
Beautiful cozy and quiet, nice ambiance. We were a party of 10, I never was asked what I'd like to drink.
Serving portions very small.
Service was slow. Water came immediately. Orders taken promptly. Downhill from there! Initially charged for what should have been a complimentary dessert.
We really enjoyed our meal at Acqua and our waiter, William, was very kind and knowledgeable. His recommendations for appetizers, entrees, and desserts were on point. If we are ever in the San Diego area again, we will definitely return to Acqua California Bistro.
Excellent place for family events, friends get together, and everyday dining. Highly recommend this place! Food is amazing
I stayed at the hotel and had lunch and dinner there. Lunch did not taste great the food was not flavorful. Dinner tasted better and the portions were good, although a bit pricey. The view was very nice. I was disappointed that they tack on an extra 4% fee for something? That the customer ends up paying for and when I asked to remove it they did not. Overall I would say if you are staying at the hotel and don't want to leave the restaurant it is good for dinner, but if you are not staying at the hotel, I would not go out of my way to eat there.
I made a reservation for outside on the patio for annual appreciation luncheon as I do every year. When I arrived, I had to wait 10 minutes for the hostess. I told her my name, and she just waved me over to an inside table saying "that's it over there." I was like, uhhh no. I asked for an outside table. She said there wasn't any available - and I then asked - what is the purpose of a reservation if you are not going to reserve the table. She started hitting the computer screen really hard and then led me outside and said "here are the tables." Well, all of them were for only 4 people and I had six in my party. I just gave up. She was rude and inhospitable. Food was good, and the rest of the service just fine. Fire that hostess.
This restaurant has gone downhill. Especially for lunch. The food is not fresh, appetizing or presented well. The bacon in the Cobb salad seemed like it was cooked two days ago and the produce should have been served yesterday. The dressing was good, but get it on the side or they will saturate the salad. The service was ridiculous. The music was so loud on the patio that we could not hear each other speak. The waiter claimed that it could not be lowered because "corporate" maintained total control of the volume of the music. I insisted on speaking to the manager and miraculously corporate lowered it. I don't know how they stay in business.
Everything was delicious, great service, cute place.
Worst service and food. Would not recommend to anyone.
I used to frequent this place often in the past until I moved to North County San Diego. I lived five minutes away. I would still go there more often, but it’s a little bit of a drive now. Nice spot nice relaxing outdoor dining overlooking Mission Bay.
Great and enjoyable dining. Good for having conversation while you eat (not noisy or loud music). Entrées a little pricey but expected being a resort restaurant. Service was terrific and beautiful setting.
Came for brunch, bill came out to over 200$ with no drinks included. Definitely not worth it.
The food was outstanding as were the decor and ambience. However, the service was horrible. There were only a few occupied tables and there seemed to be plenty of servers walking around, but mostly talking to each other- our table was literally ignored for the first 25 minutes after we were seated, in fact there was no hostess around when we entered. After receiving a wine menu, we ordered wine, 15-20 minutes later the wrong wine was delivered. We live in San Diego and enjoy dining out on special occasions - this was our first trip to the Hilton restaurant and we will never go there again. We will not recommend this restaurant and we will advise anyone who is thinking about going there, to think again. It's really too bad because the food was some of the best we have had in a restaurant. Tuna tartar, linguini with spicy clams - delicious. Too bad about the service.
Totally enjoyed dining here. The food was superb. It was an awesome surprise! Lovely sunset too!
We sat outside and enjoyed the ambiance was lovely. We had a most enjoyable meal(try the swordfish or the scallop/shrimp entrée) and the service is exceptional.
