Acitron Cocina Mexicana Ratings and Reviews
We went on a quiet night, so not many patrons. The menu and presentation were really quite spectacular -- this is not your neighborhood taco bar (think Tu Y Yo with more space and better parking). We felt that the flavors were not as sharp and clear as we might have liked -- the mole, which was quite nice and offered a mix of subtle flavors, might have had just a bit more tang. Overall a fine experience.
We were seated quickly. After that it was down hill. Poor service from the wait staff. After an hour the hostess came over and offered to check on our meal but never came back with an answer. We needed to call her over to find out what was happening. I don't blame the waitress for the slow kitchen service but I do blame her and the hostess for not being more attentive and informative of what was going on. The food tasted plain. The chicken mole was drenched in chocolate and very unappetizing.
Very mediocre old style Mexican food. Heavy, no finesse . 1bar tender for bar and entire restaurant made drinks come out extremely slowly. Margaritas were all ice. When asked for one with no ice they gave my husband a TINY one. It was embarrassing . Good if you dont feel like going to one of the much better options in Boston.
We really enjoyed our night out at Acitron. Great food, great drinks, and friendly service. We especially enjoyed the appetizers (sopas and guacamole) and margaritas! We went with a group of six people and it worked really well. They were very accommodating and the fact that it is not too noisy made conversation possible. We will definitely add it to our list of places to go back to. In fact, after looking over their brunch menu, I have added to my list of Must Try Brunch Spots. Always good to have another one of those!
Food was absolutely amazing. I haven't had enjoyed Mexican cuisine this much since I lived in Mexico City many years ago. The service is outstanding. Every dish we ordered was excellent. The restaurant was rather quiet the night that my family and I went, but my oldest daughter has been there on a weekend night when the entire dining room was filled. A must try for dessert is the chocolate tamal served with ice cream and whipped cream. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Acitron Cocina Mexicana and cannot wait to return!
Excellent entrees and appetizers. Did not get to dessert as the food was so filling. Two people had the Chiles En Nogada and one had the Camarones en Mole de Tamarindo. I had the Tacos de Pescado which were the most delicious things I've ever tasted!!! Highly recommended. The Sopas Surtido appetizer gave you a taste of three unusual fillings.
Wish we had gotten to the desserts.
High end authentic. not Tex mex. Shared a pitcher of Sangria filled with fruit a perfect complement to their yummy food. Party of four and we all kept eating - sooo good . THe corn is amazing. I had the three tacos and loved them. Two were pork, one was beef - soft tortillas, wonderfullyspiced. No grease or gloopy cheese.
Thsi is not a Tex Mex place-this is the real deal- lots of wonderful choices for refined tasty food from Mexico. The staff is so friendly you wish they would pull up a chair and join you. Good wine choices complement the food. We went 94 of us) on new Years Eve and it was busy, but no slip in service or quality. I wish I lived closer- this would be a regular neighborhood spot.
We "discovered" Acitron Cocina Mexicana on Christmas Eve and were delighted with what we found: attentive service, excellent margaritas, and wonderful dishes -- mole poblano, tilapia tacos, and chicken enchiladas with salsa verde -- all far tastier and presented in more interesting ways than you usually find these classic dishes. We're definitely going back.
Wasn't expecting to find high quality Mexican cuisine--not to be confused with the normal Tex-Mex that appears everywhere--in a little storefront in Arlington Center. But that's what this is. Imaginative menu, good food, good bay, friendly (if slightly overextended) staff. Would definitely return.
I really liked what I ordered, however my dish was lukewarm, and there weren't that many people, so this was disappointing. However, the food was excellent, the quantity perfect and our server was very warm and efficient. Had a great experience! We tasted this food at the Latin Food event that El Planeta sponsored at the Jorge Hernandez Cultural Center. So happy to have discovered the restaurant!
My husband and I enjoyed a delicious dinner with some friends. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and are comfortable saying we think it's the best Mexican restaurant around! The ceviche was great, as were the carne asada and fish tacos. Everything was reasonably priced and the portions were generous. A great find!
An exceptional wait staff! Thank you Ydaess (sorry about the spelling!), Elena, Sandrita.
One proviso - tell them not to add ANY salt to your dish. There's salt on the table if you need it. The chef has a very heavy hand with salt. I'm not just talking to people with blood pressure problems. My husband never notices salt (his mom used a lot) but he sure noticed it here last time.) To be safe, order things that are not already partially prepared. Our waitress this time, Elena, let us taste a bit of tinga before we ordered it. So thoughtful, & we didn't. The fish tacos were yummy. Also the guacamole (made to order).
This is one of my favorite restaurants: wonderfully prepared, creative food and good, friendly service. I am a vegetarian and there are not many vegetarian entrees on the menu, but it doesn't matter because I love CREPAS DE RAJAS POBLANAS so much that I never want to order anything else--it's scrumptious. (My husband, not a vegetarian, tasted mine once and now he often orders that dish as well.) The homemade guacamole is fresh and delicious, salads are excellent, corn on the cob is prepared with a devine combination of cheese and herbs, and margueritas are strong and tasty with lots of fresh lime. I've also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who is often at the door and could not be more helpful and service-oriented.
Acitron Cocina Mexicana was a great find. There was a wide range of authentic Mexican food, which was also absolutely delicious. I had the mole poblano. The shredded chicken smothered in the complex mole sauce was outstanding. My husband had the savory crepe with grilled vegetables in a spinach cream sauce. The sauce in and of itself was worth ordering that dish. For an appetizer we got the queso fondido chourizo which had the perfect about of heat, salt, and creaminess. It was hard to stop myself for eating all of it! For dessert we split the tres leches. The texture was perfect and the sauce that it sat it was delicious. All in all a great experience.
The food was extremely good but the service was horrendous. The waiter actually came up to us a good 15 minutes after taking our order to ask if he took our order. When we said yes he responded, "oh yes, I put your order in" (when clearly he had not.) We were not offered more drinks and had to flag down another waitress for them. We sat and waited while people who sat after we ordered were served their food. We waited over an hour. Yes the food was delicious but the 3 of us will not be returning ever again.
