Acero Ratings and Reviews
On a positive note the food was amazing but the service and pacing of courses was terrible. Between the time the salad/apps were removed and the entrees delivered was close to an hour. Water on the table was out for a very long time until we asked for more.
We enjoyed our meal and the expert table and bar service. We brought our own wine from home, and paid one of the higher corkage fees in town ($25). Chosing selections from the 4 course menu, the two of us enjoyed a seasonal salad, squash soup, mushroom tagliolini, short ribs and salmon. Everything was tasty, though the soup was a bit uninteresting. We love the house made breads, but since we can’t resist, they did spoil our appetite a bit for the courses that followed. Very dependable restaurant.
We had a fantastic experience and dinner at Acero! We always go to restaurant that is new to us for our anniversary and we were very please with this year's selection. The service was great, our waiter was very engaging and helpful in guiding us through the food and wine menu. They have a 4-course menu option or you can order a la carte. There were 5 in our party so we had a good variety of dishes; everything was delicious. The Egg Raviolo and Lamb Chops were two favorites. We will definitely return!
I took a friend for a Birthday celebration on a Saturday but left feeling less than thrilled. First, everyone was extremely nice & wished my friend happy birthday. That being said we were shown to a table in the back of the restaurant where the tables & chairs are TOO SMALL. I'm 5'8" & 130 pounds but with my winter coat & me it was crowded. Seriously? We ordered 2 appetizers--we did regular ala carte ordering-- & the chicken liver arrived looking sad & more like something seen under a microscope. It was simply all brown. No garnish, really? Looked yucky & taste was merely 'ok' without much flavor, & I'm a big pate lover. 2nd was a tastier goat cheese but with too much garnish. We split a salad which was also less, rather than more in both taste & looks. The rack of lamb was very good but with 4 pieces, a lot of protein with a very small amount of spinach & sweet potato. I thought $38 was a hefty price. With 1 drink apiece the bill & tip --I gave slightly over 20%-- came to $158. I made reservations for my friend's birthday several weeks in advance but we were seated with 2 large tables of 12 stuffed into a too hot back room. Again, really? I can't imagine ever wanting to eat at Acero ever again & with a menu that looks very promising in all categories it's a shame the food was so 'ordinary'.
We had a fabulous meal! We had the tasting four course dinner, which is fun, choosing your options. Our server, Brett was fantastic!
I had requested a quiet table, we were seated in the rear dining room, which was quiet and romantic! This was our first visit, but will return. Lovely restaurant!
Our party of 5 enjoyed the 4 course tasting menu on Saturday evening. A great variety of menu items were chosen, with everyone singing praises of each and every course. Great service, cozy atmosphere, an overall perfect dining experience.
Can't wait to return!
The food and service are always excellent. The staff are great! The general manager helped me order a hard-to-find bourbon and also made the rounds to each table. The guy was all over the place making sure everyone was content. Coffee's outstanding as well. Couldn't ask for more.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is reliably delicious! I have tried just about everything! I had the roasted beet salad this time and the raviolo. The tasting meal is a great deal as the portions are very manageable and the price just right for what you get. I really like the food here. Our server was also great.
Enjoyed a lovely special occasion dinner for four at Acero. We were greeted cordially and seated immediately. Server was pleasant and knowledgeable about the many specials and menu offerings . The food was exceptional and creative. We were very pleased with our dining experience at Acero and plan to return often.
7 Course Heaven
Gotta tell ya, this is a first class restaurant, with a first class chef. We had the 7 course chef special, I'm not sure that whatever I say would be good enough to describe how truly amazing this meal was. It all started at the bar with the very wine knowledgeable bar tender and a great red wine flight. Be sure to do this !!! Then to the table and 7 courses of surprising choices and an wonderful tastes and some serving wrinkles that were unique and fun. This is great date night place , very cozy and some of the best seating and wait staff I have run across in a while. Visit these folks tellem Kent and Suzanne sent ya.
The tasting menu is a great way to experience the different dishes. The pasta was absolutely fantastic! My only complaint would be that the vegetables that came with my husbands ribeye were incredibly salty. The zeppole were also delicious, so light and airy.
From the moment we entered, my spouse & I knew we were in good hands. Our server, Allie, made sure our courses were timed perfectly and took excellent care of us. Adam & Andrew also came out from the kitchen to make sure our experience wasn't lacking in any way. The meal was beautifully plated & most importantly, inventive & delicious. Our new favorite night - out spot!
Everything we ordered was very good with the exception of the egg raviolo, it wasn't bad but the other courses were much better, also the portion is incredibly small to justify the additional $5. Service was slow between courses and our waitress didn't offer to bring bread to our table, we had to ask for it.
Is there a better restaurant, dollar for dollar, in St. Louis for a special occasion? Great food, great wine, great service, and a lovely atmosphere. You can choose four delicious courses for $40 (or splurge for a bit more with some upcharged options), and there are great wines available in 8 oz. (quartino) and 4 oz. (via Coravin!) pours in addition to full bottles. We have out of town family who are dedicated foodies, chasing Michelin stars with their vacations, and they thought Acero was the best meal they'd had, dollar for dollar, in a long, long time.
