Food was over cooked, and too salty.
Service was slow.
Try the Jalapeno Cucumber margarita and the crab tacos!!
Amazing wait staff. Drinks were, ok. Food was ok. Nothing that really excited me. Would recommend or try again with different food selection.
Horrible food and service. Very disappointing since the reviews were so good.
Great food and the best server in San Antonio! We love Acenar.
Great experience. Service was great. Food was fantastic.
Our waiter was exceptional. He made the experience the best. One of our favorite places in San Antonio. Gary was our server.
Ernest was amazing! Food was delicious! Will def be back!
We waited a very long time to get our food, but it was delicious. Husband had shrimp tacos and I had chicken tacos, both with rice and beans, yummmmm, margaritas were good too.
Great food and ambiance at Acenar on the quiet part of the Riverwalk in San Antonio!
Not very pretty but the food is okay.
David and Matthew took great care of us! Raymond makes great Mexican Martinis! Excellent food and service! Thank you
Noise level was way too loud. Queso was gritty and cold. Chips were stale and greasy. Salsa tasted like burnt garlic. Service was slow. Terrible experience.
Staff was amazing, our host was so friendly, helpful and attentive. We’re from out of town and this was our first time in San Antonio. Both our server Daniel and the male host( I wish I would’ve gotten his name) made great recommendations for drinks and food. Our party of 6 all ordered different items to try, the chicken chalupa, short rib tacos, enchiladas and spicy shrimp plates were all incredible!
Amazing food! Friendly service, a little slow but everyone was so kind it didn’t matter!
Food was great and waiter was awesome!!! Next time in the area, we will be back!
Wonderful evening of outdoor dining! One of the best servers we have had anywhere. Delicious food!
The service was good and the food was delicious!
Gary was the best waister! Very knowledgeable on the menu and the city! Will definitely be going back!!
We enjoyed our Mother’s Day lunch.
Acenar consistently delivers great tasting food along with an imaginative menu.
Celebrated my moms 91st—only problem no elevator
The service was awesome and the drinks were very good. The food was edible but I felt the meat was over cooked and tough. We won't be going back but I have to say our server was one of the best I have ever had.
The food and service were amazing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Lovely patio seating on the river walk but away from the congested areas. Fish tacos were recommended and were just okay but the shrimp and crab enchiladas were delicious. The guacamole was great as well. You can make reservations for indoor seating but the patio is first come first serve. We enjoyed our lunch at Acenar.
We sat outside on the patio overlooking the riverwalk. Overall the food came out quick, but the service was a little slow. Drinks were excellent especially the cocunut margarita..yum.. I had the tres enchiladas and fresh guacamole. They were really good. Enjoyed our lunch! Also the wildlife (birds and squirrels) were fun to feed and play with. The squirrel... the regular... came and took oranges right out of our hands. Super cute!
Food was ok, but being one of the top restaurants in San Antonio, I expected different plates.
Tacos were innovative and delicious.
Frozen margaritas were also unique and very tasty.
Lot of big parties the night we were there. Would have preferred not to be there that night. Very noisy. Service was good considering all that was going on.
Enjoyed the food and ambience. Would definitely eat there again.
The restaurant was very noisy inside, could not hear the person next to me. The drinks were very good. I had the mixed enchiladas- they were dry and overall disappointing. The check-in process was annoying as the hostess started to seat us and then took interruptions from 2 other parties. I finally found someone else. I have eaten here before and remember the food and ambiance being a lot better than my experience this past Friday night. The waiter was friendly and the service was timely.
Gary was awesome as was the food and drinks! We really got a taste of true San Antonian Tex-Mex!
Delightful! Great location, wonderful service, appealing menu, excellent food, delicious plenty-strong cocktails, and attractive, convivial decor/atmosphere. Very Covid-safety-conscious practices, which we appreciated. Would highly recommend! Would definitely return!
We enjoyed the dinner (too much food served) and the service
Did not honor reservation time at first. Originally when walking up told that other people were ahead of us for seating because they walked up at the same time as our reservation. Very unclear why they accept reservations if not going to honor them. Eventually was able to talk to someone else that honored our reservation.
Otherwise good experience—Portions are generous and food was good.
Best food we had on the Riverwalk, we got a reservation for inside but they bumped us to the front of the line for outdoor seating.
Waiter kept forgetting things we asked for, beverages, butter, flatware, plates, napkins, water. Our food came out lukewarm. The chicken cutlet was tough, had to work to cut through it. The beans (black and boracho) were flavorless. We had asked for corn tortillas and only received flour. Our waiter seemed “amped up” and kept walking around our table when he talked to us. It was our first visit and probably last.
First of all the dress code mentioned is obviously not enforced at all. Lots of hats, shorts etc. if you go, wear whatever you’re comfortable with. No need to be fancy. The service was excellent. Our server was prompt and friendly and made a great suggestion for the special shrimp taco appetizer which was very good. Chips and salsa were good too but they’re an extra $4 fee but the second best thing we had. The Acenar combo of enchiladas and fajitas sounded great but had a weird acidic burnt flavor and the fajita meat was mushy and tasted as if it had been microwaved. The carnitas were decent but not cooked long enough and were a bit rubbery in texture. Didn’t stay for dessert so I’m not sure how that is. The setting was nice but I’m not likely to be back
John was our waiter and did an outstanding job. Food was terrific. Great to see people enjoying themselves.
Made reservations and were greeted and walked to our table right when we arrived. Food was great and so were our margaritas. Would definitely go back and recommend.
