Food was great and so was our waiter! We were treated well by all staff and had an appetizers, entrees and dessert. Everything was tasty and they had good portion sizes s
Always enjoy the unusual options. Like the duck chalupas
Had a good meal at Acenar. It was a little less...cosy & sophisticated than I expected, but that's on me. It was an energetic vibe, little loud, but we lucked into a corner table. Food was very good, everyone liked what they had. It was too hot to enjoy the patio.
Noise level was high because we ate inside and there are large tiled columns for the sound to bounce off of. There was also a bachelorette party so we couldn’t blame the restaurant for that, but it was unfortunate to have to dine near them. The waiter was very cute and he anticipated our needs.
Overpriced and the food was ok at best
My pork tasted like it was old and re-heated
Considering all of the TexMex choices on the Riverwalk, it's hard to infer that this restaurant is somehow better and/or above the others. The staff was as courteous as any of the other establishments and the food was just slightly better than the main tourist traps. When we went on a Wednesday evening, it was extremely noisy, and a little messy. The bottom line is basically same-same for the area...not bad, but also not outstanding.
The restaurant is very good but the food is not great I had more expectations.
Excellent service from Angel who made our evening memorable. He was attentive, personable and a great server. Our food was delicious and served quickly. The restaurant is located in a quieter part of the river walk. Nice atmosphere.
Our waiter was extremely friendly and funny and the food was delicious at an affordable price.
Our Waiter was excellent as he was very attentive and personable. And the manger Patti was extremely helpful in making our reservation for 20 people on the same day as we were celebrating my nephews swearing in to the Air Force. Great time. Thanks
Waitress, Rochelle, was extremely professional, courteous, and attentive.
We were celebrating my friends bday, so I made reservations. I order my drink, to only found out that happy hour food and drinks are only served in the bar. We had to move, so please ask before you sit down.
Overall the food was good and drinks were the best
Excellent food, excellent price and most excellent service! Beautiful Ambiance, atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!
We were seated inside. Terrible atmosphere. Waitress seemed to want to rush us. Food came out entirely too fast. We had no silverware, plates or tortillas when fajitas came out. We had the mixed fajitas for 2. The beef was chewy and the chicken was obviously prepared ahead of time and just put on the sizzling hot plate. It was luke warm at best. Onions were far from grilled. Pretty tasteless overall. We can’t understand how this place has such a good overall rating! We won’t be going back.
Cool spot on the patio overlooking the river walk. Our server Ethan was a good guy but seemed to be covering a lot of ground. Service was slow.
Patio had a lot of flies and needs to be sprayed or an insect zapper installed.
Chips and salsa were excellent. Lots of zap to the salsa.
We love coming here before the Majestic shows. Great menu, great margaritas. You will not be disappointed! The vegetarian relleno is my favorite! And try the table side guacamole...yummy!
Yummy food, good prompt service even on a busy Saturday! My only concern was the condition of the Women's Restroom!! Water was all over the floor in one stall because it was leaking from a toilet. Plus several stalls were out of toilet paper. The waste basket was overflowing. Perhaps they need an attendant in the restroom or have someone check it hourly!!! Since so many tourists eat at Acenar, I would think the management would want to keep the restrooms clean. This is not the first time I have found the restrooms in such condition!!
Food and drinks were good. Few things though: (1) Guacamole for Two was not made tableside as printed on the menu. Tableside guac should be prepared tableside; won’t be ordering that again. (2) We asked for corn tortillas with our Queso de la Casa; they did not accompany the Queso. We had to remind our server about them, twice. (3) Same thing when we asked for limes for our cocktails; asked three times before receiving them. Lesson learned: be specific when ordering as to how you expect delivery.
This is my second time eating here. Both times have been great! The food and the service is awesome. My only suggestion would be to add noise cancellation to the walls. The noise just bounces off, so you can hear everything!
Two of us. Service slow. I would have had two wonderful drinks if I had known it would be 10-15 mins between visit from waiter. I suggest you order food / drink 10 mins before you want a normal wait time for another drink.
Still, it was worth it. I was with someone I love (wife) and enjoy her company in any long wait.
Very good food. Loved the atmosphere. Could've had a more romantic time had the noise levels been lower but the service and food definitely made up for it.
Was looking for a nice quiet spot on the Riverwalk, and this one fit the bill perfectly! We got a shady spot on the patio, enjoyed the river without hoards of people passing by. The food was amazing (mushroom and squash vegan tacos were to die for!), even got guacamole made at our table. :) definitely will go back next time we are in San Antonio!
Excellent food and safe gluten free options. We would definitely return when we are in San Antonio next time.
They helped make our anniversary dinner celebration a real treat with great service, great food and awesome drinks.
Fresh ingredients and great authentic corn tortillas.
Waiter was super friendly and the goat was delicious.
Acenar has a nice, casual atmosphere. The food is very good, with a wide variety of selections. The service is always attentive and friendly. It is quite noisy during peak hours. Its location at the end of the River Walk is a bonus.
Great food, lovely view of the river walk. I had the goat and it was very flavorful and tender. I would definitely be back my next visit to San Antonio.
Good food Good service will definitely good back again
We will return! We both ordered the stuffed vegetarian poblanos, delicious!
Our waiter, Marco, showed just the right amount of attentiveness.
Great place to eat before the theater!
Best food on the River walk! We will go back
Nice spot on the Riverwalk: you need to try their ceviche!
Fantastic food. Got a table very quickly. Drinks were great along with our waiter Gary who was very well majored,; knowledgeable about his menu and personal favourites; and was a very kind person. Even gave us great recommendations on things to do outside of the river walk. His energy was appreciated. Only feedback is for the operations team: have chairs that match table height. Clean the outdoor patio floors and side walls looking out to river. Bird crap all over which makes me not feel so comfortable from a cleanliness standpoint.
Great place for lunch. Refreshing drinks, great food and friendly service!
The oyster tacos were excellent, and the location is great (along the river walk). The atmosphere is also really nice.
Acenar has been our go to restaurant for many years anytime we had a show to go to in the downtown area but we're going to look for some place else to go to. Service was very inattentive - there were 3-4 filled tables in the main dining area on a Sunday evening and it took almost 10 minutes for someone to approach our table to take drink orders or offer chips and salsa and there were tons of staff standing around! Food was ok but not great - has been much better in the past and the rest rooms were filthy. We were there about a month ago and had a very similar experience. Time to look for another restaurant that a local San Antonian can enjoy....
Best service I have probably ever had. Great food, and our waiter Ryan was amazing! I recommend the table side Guacamole.
The setting and the meal were spectacular. I think that the servers were overwhelmed however. Our appetizers arrived but we had to wait (and request twice) more than five minutes for napkins and utensils.
Our server was friendly and I understand that working in a restaurant is a challenging occupation but it would have been better if we were simply given napkins and forks instead of two apologies.
I’d recommend the restaurant and I’m sure that my experience was an exception to the usual.
Probably the loudest restaurant I’ve eaten in. I can carry on conversations better at rock concerts.
Great spot close to the Majestic, easy to reserve, prompt service. Food is great, enchiladas are very creative. They charge $4.00 for extra chips, which was kind of shocking, but it is downtown and by the river walk, so I guess it is an understandable business decision. Fast service and seating.
