The waiter was very rude. We arrive early and met a friend for a drink at the bar. We ask if they good fit third person and he immediately said NO before the question was out of my boss's mouth. Oddly when we were seated we noted a 4 top table next us that never filled and when they did fill it was with a couple. There were several open tables in the restaurant. Next when I asked the waiter to explain the prix fixe menu he indicated it was 'already self explanatory'. When I asked the server about the type of meat he looked incredulously at me and said, "It is goat leg!"---like I should be so silly not to know. Food was good but staff was not welcoming or accommodating.
Accanto has a new chef, showing off a little bit with goat cheese gnocchi with a sauce made with goat, absolutely delicious. The menu is small here, but the food is delicious and presented handsomely. I used to eat here regularly, but that has been 4 years or more, and the front-end staff are the same people! The friendly familiarity is comforting.
Really wonderful food and wonderful service! Only detraction was very close seating of another party within arms length of our table.
I have been an Accanto fan for many years... the food is great. The service is incomparable and the vibe is very positive. What more can I say? Visit Accanto; you'll love it.
The food was excellent. The service was slow, but all the better for visiting. It was too noisy, but the waitress did turn the music down, thank you.
Went here for Portland Dining Month and we were not disappointed. Nice space with good ambiance and it wasn’t too noisy to have a conversation. The wait staff was attentive and very friendly, as well as helpful with the menu. The three courses we had were all delicious and everyone left feeling contented. Would definitely return here. The only downside, as with most Italian places, is the overpriced wine menu. Italian wines are not costly, except in a good restaurant. Overall great place!
Menu items were unique and full of flavor, well prepared a very enjoyable evening
Very good food. I did Portland Dining Month and had a 3 course menu. Their smoked mackerel Caesar was amazing, and their deserts did not disappoint.
It was Restaurant Week and the three course value menu offered was delicious.
We took advantage of the Portland Monthly Dining menus. There were two choices for each course, and, fortunately, we each wanted the different choice so we both participated. Normally my significant other has a small plate. The regular menu was tempting, too. The cocktail special was great too. Service was efficient. Highly recommended.
The new chef is doing a great job. The food was delicious. We had the dining month tasting menu and every dish was great. I tried one side of the menu and my friend the other. No regrets.
What a find! I cannot overstate how important it is to order the bread with both olive oil and parmesan butter. Best bread ever. Just do it. You're welcome. And the warmed olives and some wine really made for a nice start that was tough to follow. The pastas were solid, and dessert was good (especially the olive oil cake with huckleberry and cream). The vibe was energetic in this eclectic neighborhood, but the dimmed, small space of 14ish tables kept it intimate. The only bumer was that the service started out awesome (our server was super-personable and helpful) but then he kind of disappeared when it got busy. Nice team effort, though, as the bartender jumped in to help out when she noticed we'd been sitting for a while.
This was my second time dining at Accanto. Their Portland dining month menu was lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed both meals.
We were here during March Dining for a wonderful Pris fixe dinner. It began with especially tasty olives followed by an especially enjoyable citrus salad. The entree was goat cheese gnocchi with a flavorful goat meat ragout. Dessert was a panna cotta topped with candied pine nuts. The service was friendly and efficient. All-in-all, an especially nice evening .
The food is always wonderful here. I wish they had more vegetarian offerings; it is a rather meat heavy menu.
Accanto never disappoints me. The food is just creative enough, not fussy, and the service is always attentive without being overly so. The ambiance is a bit busy/lively when all tables are taken, but one can still talk without shouting. We chose the March dining month option this time, and it was delicious. The wine list is interesting without being overwhelming.
Great special cocktail and Portland Dining Month menu! Thoroughly enjoyed our evening!
we enjoyed the food tremendously.. specially the polenta with mushroom plate .. we ordered it 3 times ;)
Amazing food, spectacular drink. Perfect night celebrating my friend’s birthdays. 👌
As it was Portland dining month, we tried Accanto and were pleased with the discovery of new dishes. The arancino was especially yummy and the panna cotta was delish!!
This is an outstanding restaurant. The staff are friendly and knowledgable about what they are serving. The wine and cocktail choices are wonderful. The food is creative and delicious. Highly recommended.
Have visited Accent three times since the Taylor Railworks folks took over. It has been fantastic overtime. Looking forward to returning soon.
I have frequented Accanto many times over the years. The food is always creative and delicious. The one recommendation I would make is that they have a server who I have had in the past and this past week that just not pleasant. He never introduces himself or even smiles. He left my companions #) who have never been there before feeling a bit let down form what could have been a very lovely dining experience.
Would someone please talk to him about being personable please?
The 4 of us really enjoyed our food choices. The citrus salad was exceptional. Pasta is house made and delicious.
The food was super tasty. The Caesar salad with mackerel was unique and delicious.
Great food! Especially the desserts! However entree portions were pretty small, even for a this type of restaurant.
We went in for a little celebration. Staff was great, food was great, nice evening all around.
The food was delicious. Unfortunately the service was aggressive and pushy. Accanto is right in our neighborhood and could easily have been a regular spot for us, but given this experience I think we'll be dining elsewhere. We might try it again in a year, given the quality of the food.
We had a fun brunch, typically wonderful food and great service!
My daughter and I enjoyed the entire experience. And the online reservation option - great job on that! I did call to let them know we were running behind about ten mins. The person whom answered seemed very rush and a bit short. I can only attribute this to being busy, but it was curt. Our server was stellar she was very professional. She did almost forget about us and dessert. That is a no bueno for us. The noise level was at one point impacted our conversation because we could hear each other. And we ordered every course so it was a normal outing. I would suggest that smaller parties be separated from larger groups.
We arrived at 6 pm and took forever to try some wines and order a bottle. Disappointed with wine choices . server not interested in finding out more about a bottle.food took a while to come but was good. this is an Italian restaurant with a bit of french flair. We sat too close to our neighbors who looked offended at our conversation . Bill was high for 1 bottle of wine and split salad, side dish and entre but portions were large. Menu had a lot of repeating items and seriously goat Sugo in Italy ???? Lived there 3 years and never saw it
This was my second time at Accanto. The first time I went we had a fabulous time. This time the service was a bit off, and the main meals took forever to arrive. I would still recommend this place based off of my first experience.
Excellent as always
Something about this restaurant just makes me feel comfortable and happy. The staff is great, never getting in the way but there when needed and willing to explain and offer advice. Prices are reasonable because portions are reasonable. Food is inventive but comforting and very good.
Went here for Valentine’s and it was just perfect. Amazing food, great drinks, excellent and friendly (and not overbearing service). My bf has a nut allergy, which I noted on the special request section when I made our reservation and they presented him with a nut free menu! Best Italian in Portland. We’ll be back!
A pleasant surprise! Delicious food, pleasant and attentive wait staff and lovely atmosphere. We will be back.
We love Accanto. This is the second time we've been and both times really knocked it out of the park. Last night we had a fantastic citrus salad. The cheese plate could have used a little more crackers or bread, but overall we had a great time. We will definitely return.
We had a lovely brunch at Accanto. Wonderful food, good cocktails, friendly service.
Simply outstanding in every way. Quality ingredients and flavors. Impeccable service. Want to try for dinner. Went for brunch which was one of best I have had in PDX. Will be back.
Accanto was a fantastic experience. It was authentic Italian food (our favorite). The meal was delicious. The service was outstanding. We look forward to our next visit.
