Accanto Ratings and Reviews
I've been before and always enjoy my experience. The pricing is well set and allows one to try a few different items to get an overall taste of everything. The service is always excellent with silverware changes between courses. I try to bring anyone visiting from out of town here to show them a very nice meal that they don't feel guilty over.
Dinning at Accanto was just a great treat.
We were accommodated last minute by the host.
Our server was super knowledgeable and very friendly, he gave us some great recommendations of dishes we had to try from the menu, and he was right on point. If you are dinning there and they happened to be serving the poached black cod on a jar, do not miss out!!!
The restaurant is super quaint and cute.
I would say a must in PDX.
We were seated immediately and our host came by immediately to greet us. Our waitress, Linda, was a delight, brought us a couple glasses of wine and we started our culinary adventure. Bread, salad, squash, more wine and pasta! Delicioso! And even a glass of limoncello after dinner, yummy! Felt like I was back in Italy! Grazie!
SLOW, we ordered our food and then waited, waited and waited. When we asked why the food was taking so long our waiter said, "they are doing the best they can with that little three burner stove." When the food came it was just ok. Nothing worth waiting over 45 minutes to eat. I will not go again or recommend.
Hopefully, you will keep popular entrees on the menu. I would drive miles to enjoy your amazing pork chop, the original Arugula salad and Poke. Your salad that had root veggie with a creamed goat cheese was one of the finest salads I've ever had.
We are regulars at approximately $60/person.
We enjoyed an excellent fritto misto and inventive Caesar salad (with plump mackerel bits), plus Ken's excellent artisan breads before our main course--and these would have sufficed for quantity. My entree was squid ink pasta, which was flavorful, but I felt the sauce overwhelmed the pasta, which was spaghetti. My companion very much enjoyed his entree of pasta with pork ribs, which reminded him of papardelle with boar sauce. The entrees were few, and those who are looking for fish or non-meat entrees would probably be disappointed. Pleasant service and cozy neighborhood atmosphere, along with well-prepared dishes, make this a fine choice for dinner.
We go to Accanto often. The food is always delicious. This time we both had a delicata squash soup that was divine. Shared the roasted cauliflower. Chicken thigh entrée was light but very tasty. Pasta with pork Bolognese sauce was delicious as always. Great place for a relaxed evening.
We went to try the new chef's cuisine. Unfortunately, the menu had not changed much since I was there a month ago or so (before he came on board). This time, they were light on the calamari and shrimp when we ordered the Misto; our friend complained that the fish she ordered was dry. I enjoyed my polenta and house made pork sausage. Guess I will wait a few months to see what the new chef has to offer.
I don't normally write negative reviews, because I feel it hurts the hard working people that work in the restaurant. I also feel most of the problems in a restaurant are the fault of management and not the wait staff. First, a good thing, the food was great! But, it was a 3 hour saga. It is not necessary to explain to customers your current litigation with Taylor Railworks, or that the chef is new, or that the restaurant is busy. Congrats, you have a successful place! Not every restaurant has this problem. They comped us an entree at the end, which we thought was a very nice gesture. But 2.5 hours for pasta was a bit long. We got scolded for asking why the wait. Also, not so good. Both tables on either side of us left without eating at all. They just gave up. This is a super successful restaurant, so I feel they will be fine. If you go, be patient, because sometimes a canto get your food so fast!
Unfortunately our experience started off poorly. It took ages for us to receive our drinks, mine first then my partners as his was forgotten. But the wine suggestions and samples were very nice and also caused us to choose a great rose which we might not have. Good food and you can talk as its not oppressively loud. We'd go back.
We are regulars at Accanto and it is one of our favorite restaurants! The quality of the food was excellent, as always. The portions, however, were markedly reduced from previously. I know there is a new chef and this could be why. I am hoping that the previous combined good value and good quality will return.
Thank you for reviewing!
The food is good but I asked for a "quiet table in the back," not realizing that the back has a low non-porous ceiling and is very loud. This was compounded by a 4-top next to us featuring 2 tall deep-voiced guys who needed to shout about their golfing triumphs in their loudest voices. My friend and I stood it as long as we could (conversation was impossible) and had our entrees boxed up and took them home.
We love Accanto! We've always had a great meal with great service. The Frito Misto is a favorite of ours. We had the arugula salad which was delicious as was the soup. My husbands' pasta was a bit spicier than he expected, and they offered to replace. It was delicious! The wine choices were excellent and our server was very helpful in choosing a wine to complement out meals.
I liked the little details that the Chef incorporated into the food at Accanto. We had the frito misto and it was brought out hot and crisp. This was so delicious, like you could eat this all night long good. Also, the crostini special was very good. I think you could really make a meal out of the the great starters. Next, the bolonese pasta. So tender and tasty. Enough to share. Finally, we had the chicken dish. The flavor was amazing. The brine really makes the difference. Unfortunately, by then, we were pretty filled up.
Linda, our server was always present without being intrusive. She was very friendly and professional. I do recommend Accanto to anyone looking to have a wonderful dining experience, great flavors and friendly service.
