Excellent flavors and service, especially considering the fact they are operating during a pandemic.
The Maine-inspired menu was AMAZING! We ordered a Spanish cheese and ham platter and east coast oysters for appetizers. The oysters were huge and delicious. I order the lobster pot pie for dinner and my husband ordered the steak frites. Everything on our plates was delicious. Acadia always brings it and never disappoints.
We learned from our waitress that they are going to be closed for some restaurant renovations! We look forward to returning (hopefully soon) for a dinner inside the newly renovated space.
The summer patio menu was fantastic!
While visiting my younger sister, a Chicago resident, I wanted to treat her to an early dinner out. Fortunately Acadia was up and running with a sweet paradise escape of a patio. The food was casual and delicious. The service was good- however we did feel as though the server may have forgotten us once or twice, and we were not asked if we had any allergies or sensitivities. Beverages were well-priced and tasty. Overall a pleasant experience...a welcome mini-respite from the world's chaos.
Small patio seating and limited menu due to Covid-19. The food was nicely done and tasty but again, choice was small. The cheeseburger was excellent as was the lobster roll. I hope the restaurant survives the restrictions of the pandemic as I would love to eat here when full service and Michelin Star food returns.
Outdoor patio a wonderful way to enjoy items from the bar food menu (in the old days when indoor bar and restaurant open and both menus were exceptional). Some street traffic noise, but that is part of urban location. I read that Acadia is closing for a month starting the 10th or so, I look forward to whatever creative adaptation the chef comes up with in September for this very different dining out times.
Patio looks great, good clean service
Acadia never disappoints. Once you set your reservation date/time, you wait in excited anticipation of your dining experience with thoughts of flavors on your palate and artful presentation laid before you.
Patio redo...spot on. The size, lights, plants, tiki torches while providing a bit of privacy from the street. Cocktails to go.....super fun idea. The Bartenders have always been masterful mixologists.
I am grateful a restaurant of this caliber settled into the South Loop so long ago and continues to thrive and impress it's patrons local and afar.
Acadia is a great fine dining neighborhood spot. We ate on the newly created patio outside the front door. It is a relatively quiet street, but next to a dog park so be prepared for the occasional barks. However, the design and landscaping of the space really made me feel like I was someplace more serene. There is a smaller menu than before, but we had a nice variety of dishes and cocktails. I had the lobster "pot pie" and my husband had the steak fries, and both were delicious. We also enjoyed their creative use of edible flowers - now my husband is trying to grill dill flowers. I am glad the restaurant is back open and wish them the best.
Phenomenal. My favorite in all of Chicago.
Excellent dining experience considering the time we are going through. We enjoyed the patio seating. Food and beverages were spot on, and service was even better.
Limited number of outdoor tables, nicely separated by planters. Service was very good. Police station nearby resulted in some screaming patrol cars zipping by, but otherwise the setting was good. Service was very professional. Food was delicious. Lobster pot pie is "deconstructed," and doesn't look like much when served, but there is a lot of lobster and the buttery sauce is very good. Mussels and burger looked good. Toast with aoli with the mussels juice was perhaps the best part of the meal. Lemony saison beer was very good on a warm summer night.
Acadia has created a pretty patio with a limited but delicious version of their bar menu. The wait staff at the table were great, but the bar staff could have been a bit quicker, considering there are only two drinks on offer. Otherwise a great place to eat on a warm evening.
The best dining ever
Thank u all
Very average food tastes
Everything about our experience at Acadia was superb. The food, the service was exceptional.
Wonderful food and presentation.
Amazing. The service was exceptional. They know their food and the pairings were perfect. We had an amazing unforgettable dinner. Going to check out their bar and patio for sure this spring!
Never have I experienced such a good service! Truly what an amazing service they have at Acadia, the food was also fantastic of course but what stuck with me was the service!
Amazing experience, all around amazing.
Acadia is simply amazing. Pricy but worth every penny.
Is a wonderful place with a good food.
So glad we finally made it to Acadia. Such a special night. Thanks for the tremendous experience
Most disappointing Michelin star experience ever. Rude bartender, unattentive and forgetful waitress, average to mediocre food, and WAAAAAY overpriced. We spent $660 for two, and would not return even if it was $100. This restaurant alone makes me question the integrity of the Michelin program.
It was overall a good experience. The hosts were nice the servers knowledgeable. The chef was truly inspired and you could see his passion in every bite. My personal favorite was the mini lobster roll that was served to us when we first walked in.
Fantastic experience... each dish was better than the last. Wonderful service. Pricey of course but a ‘permanent great memory’
Valentine’s Day menu completely not worth it. Portions too small for the price. One tiny oyster. One tiny beet. Menu also included foie gras which was not even served! Go to wherewithall for a much better experience.
Superb experience. Maddy, my chief wait staff, very attentive and knowledgeable. A cold, snowy night and this restaurant was a very welcome 3.5 hour sustenance. I was aware of the expense; it was worth the evening.
This was the best dining experience I've ever had. I knew it would be wonderful given the 2 stars, but honestly everything was perfect. Every dish was enticing and delicious, the chefs are incredibly creative but they don't miss a thing. Some places like this will make an incredible dish with creative plating/unique ingredients/good wine pairings, but have the dish taste sort of meh. This wasn't the case with Acadia. Everything was delicious and fascinating, the staff was kind, knowledgeable, and made you feel at home. I'd recommend this place to anyone for a special event, and I hear the bar is a great, much more approachable menu for those looking to go more often.
Acadia is amazing!!! One of the best dining experiences ever. They are very accommodating to dietary restrictions, but I wish they could accommodate a vegan diet.
Wonderful tasting menu with great wine pairings, excellent service, and attention to detail. Pricey, but worth the experience.
A flawlessly served perfectly executed delicious meal. We did the tasting menu and wine paring. The food and presentation beautiful, creative and thoughtful and every bite was wonderful. The staff was attentive and described every dish as well as the chefs inspiration of each. I cannot say enough how much we all enjoyed every minute
We had a delicious dinner. The friendly staff are very detail-oriented.
Amazing time, Chief David and his team were phenomenal!
Our service was wonderful! Unfortunately, me and my party became sick after eating there.
I have been to other Michelin restaurants and was skeptical after booking this one and seeing the reviews. They seemed inconsistent but after going I was happy with the experience. We came when the restaurant first opened for the tasting menu and though the meal did take long itself (about 3 1/2 hours start to finish) it had nothing to do with the service but rather that it was a 13 course meal. The waiters were very good and brought everything out in a timely manner. We loved the ambiance and the experience the only negative thing I can say is that I expected the food itself to stand out a little more just because of the price. I’ve been to other Michelin restaurants ( some 3 stars) and just felt the food was better for around the same price . But all in all great experience next time we will definitely check out the bar as well since we hear their food is really good too.
Beautiful space. The staff were excellent. The food were exquisitely presented with precision.
While the food was delicious, there were several notches for the New Year’s evening. For starters a bunch of us (6-8 couples) were locked out of the restaurant before entering and despite the valet knocking the door only was opened by the partner of a smoker (after she called him on her cell); after finally getting in we were completely ignored by the bar tenders, then about 15-20 minutes later offered a glass of champagne. The wine sommelier was AMAZING but service was somewhat pretentious and not as top collar as one would expect! Not likely to return nor will we recommend. Sorry.
Great overall New Year’s experience
It’s important to understand I don’t leave such a review lightly. Nor do I normally take notes while dining. But this was such a poor experience given the expectations (2 Michelin Stars, special NYE dinner at $350 per person without wine, tax or tips).
We’ve been to many Michelin-Starred places before, and several in Chicago.
After this poor experience I cannot fathom how Acadia got such a prestigious culinary accolade.
* Perhaps because they were serving the same thing to everyone in waves, most dishes didn’t feel freshly made and instead were a bit like someone left them under heat lamps, so they all come out at once. If anyone from the restaurant reads this - please reconsider your NYE organization in the future. I get it that you’re trying to finish close to midnight so everything is timed, but if quality becomes sub-Michelin-Star, what’s the point of coming here?
* Someone from the restaurant was videotaping and photographing constantly while we were dining - it was not conducive to a relaxing meal. Maybe this is OK in a club, but not in a fine dining establishment.
* Rock hard macaron, if anyone made that in France they’d be fired (was chocolate mixed with caviar, but the dryness and hardness was the problem, not the flavor profile).
* Weird scallop/truffle/yuzu dish - had what tasted like really bitter pieces of orange peel. I didn’t taste scallop nor truffle. Mostly what tasted like a less sweet orange marmalade with herbs added.
* Waiter didn’t describe one dish, said “you heard it from the other guy next to you” - we hadn’t heard actually but he left before I could say anything.
* Overdone octopus for the DIY tacos (the very spicy mole had a very good taste though).
* The veal cheeks themselves were very tasty, but dry and cold.
* Incredibly bland foie gras - how did they manage that?
* The venison with the tamarind sauce was good but the venison was cold and the sauce almost ice cold
Could say more but not enough characrers.
