Acacia of Lawrenceville
My daughter and I had lunch at Acacia during the Central Jersey Restaurant Week promotion. We enjoyed the $20 3 course lunch, and look forward to returning.
Amazing food and service. Will be back!
This restaurant is amazing! Seasonal and inventive dishes AND great service. It is truly a gem. I plan to return whenever we have guests in town!
Took my wife for a date night. 1st time we went. The food is worth the cost. Combined with the environment made for a really nice night out. We will be returning. Thanks
This is such a neighborhood gem that we tend to overlook. We had dinner with friends and from start to finish, it was outstanding. It was a Sunday night and they only had 2 other tables. We ordered salads to start that were very good but it's the entrees that really shine. Three of us ordered steak and the fourth had Griggstown chicken. Our plates looked like we licked them clean...that's how much we enjoyed our entrees. We will be back! We need to support our local, neighborhood establishments.
Acacia is our favorite local restaurant. High-quality, high-end food without being crazy expensive. Service is always amazing and the owners are so friendly. We try to go once a week when we can. The menu changes pretty often so we get to try a lot of different stuff. But the staples of the menu are so solid and satisfying too. Love this place!
I’m not sure how to rate my recent dinner experience. We had 6pm res on a Saturday night. Only a few tables were occupied when we arrived except for a large party of adults & a few children (about 20 in the party). The noise level was loud and got much louder as we awaited our meals. We started to regret not leaving. The meal arrived and the noise was so bad that after just about tasting our meals we asked for our check and left. Now all I can say is if you do not have a separate room to host a party, please don’t host the party. All the other patrons had to pay good money for a miserable night out.
I 've tried several things since they changed to an autumn menu in September, but this is the second time that I've enjoyed the duck. The restaurant was filled with a large party (and fairly loud), but despite the number of entrées prepared that evening by the kitchen, they did mine perfectly.
Everything tasted great! Ambience was nice and less casual than our usual weekly places. Can’t wait to go back & try some more dishes !
Exceptional in many ways! Great location with no stress free parking and easy access from 206 and 295. BYOB makes it economical and interesting. Nice square room with tables overlooking the Lawrenceville School and good spacing between tables. Menu is eclectic with moderately priced three course dinner or a four course a la carte. We chose the latter with an exceptional pear salad, handkerchief pasta, seafood paella and a wonderful bread pudding. Service was seamless and friendly. You will not be disappointed and be prepared to be dazzled for value and taste. Very highly recommended!
Always terrific food and wonderful serivice.
Excellent food quiet atmosphere excellent service
Excellent food, nice atmosphere. One of our favorite restaurants.
Our third visit within 2 months and we found the food to be consistently excellent. I had the swordfish on one visit and the maui maui cajun style with dirty rice on a recent visit. Both times the fish was perfectly cooked and well seasoned without overpowering the dish. My husband had steak and filet and that too was perfectly cooked. Salads are excellent and good size. The shaved brussel sprout was just delicious and a bit more unusual than others. The flat bread appetizer with mushrooms was outstanding, not overpowered with cheese and puffy and light with lots of flavor. Portions are good sized and we have not yet had room for desserts, but they are very tempting and look good. Service is friendly and not intrusive but always thoughtful to check if all the dishes have come out well.
The food was excellent with good service. Recommend this place!
Beet salad was arugula salad with a few bites of beets but otherwise food was very good. Definitely pricey but portions were good size
I especially appreciated Acaci's willingness to accommodate me as a vegan. The wait person was very helpful, knowledgeable, attentive, without hovering, and patient.
Fantastic menu and quality restaurant
I ordered salmon bowl which came with grilled salmon just perfect with about 1/3 cup quinoa and 1/2 slices of cucumber and a few cherry tomatoes, a few olives and a dab of sauce. Not much food even for me who is a small female so that I ended up eating some bread which I rarely do. My guest is an elderly woman and she ordered her favorite pear salad with chicken. She ate very slowly as she had challenges in chewing food and decided to take half of food home. For the value there’s wasn’t enough. The presentation was beautiful. A fly was annoying as it kept coming towards our table. Rather quiet and good for talking.
We were celebrating two family birthdays , and selected an outdoor table at acacia. The appetizers and entrees were all very well prepared and delicious. Our waitstaff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The outdoor lighting and music were lovely.
We have patronized Acacia over 20+ years. The current chef-owner is creative and talented and the food
is always fresh and beautifully presented. Terri always provides excellent service with a smile!!!
Had a great dinner there. Everything was delicious and service was great. Will definitely go back again!
Excellent food and service. We will definitely dine there again.
The food here was good, but service was slow (they only had two waitresses for the whole restaurant) and the noise level was very high.
The wait staff was great but the food was good. I had expected more and was hoping to have a great experience. I had steak which was done very well. My son’s dinner was just okay as was my wife’s. Desert was disappointing. It was gluten free and we did not want gluten free. It was not mentioned that it would be.
I don't eat a lot of beef, but the 16 oz strip offered was done to perfection. I left it to Chris and came out medium rare. A while back, the flatiron steak was served rare. It's great to be able to leave these things to someone who knows his business and can bring out the best in the products!
Just a very nice place for dinner.
Acacia is up there with the best restaurants in the state. Amazing specials. Incredible apps. Even better mains. Been here three times, and will definitely be back.
To start with both the gazpacho soup and fresh oysters were served in warm dishes, not iced ones. Then two of the four diners had the venison osso bucco which was to be served with creamy polenta. The polenta was like water, waitress was told to tell the chef but no accommodation other than to be given a soup spoon!
Then we requested a cappuccino for desert and it came lukewarm. Sent it back and received a very hot version but no real froth on top.
Maybe an off night? Not sure we will try again.
Calamari appetizer was fabulous as was the Seafood Risotto special. Waitress so upbeat and friendly. Coffe cake was way too big! Will return soon.
We like the restaurant a lot. Only problem is dessert. Not up to food level
My wife and I enjoyed outstanding dinner with our friends. Our server, Jamie, was very knowledgeable with the exact right balance of making sure that we were well served without undue 'hovering'. The food was excellent - I had the scallops and they were both delicious and beautifully presented. We will look forward to another visit soon. Oh - I should add to my previous response - you asked would I recommend Acacia to a friend - I will not only recommend it - I will bring another couple and I will come back again soon
We both enjoyed scallops - they were out of this world. We sat outside - at our special table.
We were taken for a business lunch having found the location near to our offices. I like to support local restaurants so I arranged lunch for 4. We ordered the following: The Salmon Bowl, the pear salad and two Shrimp bowls. The salad was amazing, full plate fresh and delicious. The salmon bowl was also very good and served over a quinoa. The two blackened shrimp bowls were 5 medium grilled shrimp (very tasty) which circled a small scoop of cold black beans and corn in the center with an aioli and a .25 of an a sliced avocado fanned out on it. Out of the three dishes, the shrimp was the skimpiest and the other diner said it perfectly as she grabbed a piece of bread from the bread basket "Well, that was tasty but much more of a snack than an entrée for lunch". The inside is beautiful, the waitress was friendly and attentive, but the portion of the food lacked in terms of the price. I will have to try a couple of times before I send someone there on a recommendation.
Great as always. New summer menu didn’t disappoint
All our dishes were very tasty. The services was great. Love that it is a BYOB.
Menu was varied and high quality. Great choices
Tuna was fresh and perfectly cooked.
The wait staff was most pleasant and helpful and the food was really great!
Our server, Jamie, was friendly as well as professional. The atmosphere was perfect for 2 of us to have a quiet dinner. The food was delicious - hubby had braised lamb shank and I had gnocchi with bolognese sauce. The salad with pear was light and delicious - great for pre-dinner. Hubby loved his appetizer of meatballs.
I was utterly disappointed with my visit to Acacia. All three courses were just bland. For my main entree I ordered Scottish Salmon. The fish was over cooked and the entire dish was devoid of seasoning. Part of my disappointment was, in part, due to my high expectations going into the meal. I really did expect the chef at Acacia to deliver high quality and bold flavors and when neither was delivered the let down was greater than if I had gone in without expectations.
