Aberdeen Barn - Charlottesville Ratings and Reviews
The food was good. Very traditional menu and a pleasant (also traditional) ambiance. Service was nothing special. I had told them it was my hauband’s birthday and there was no acknowledgement. It was pricey considering the entire experience. I know it has been voted a great place to go on a special occasion, but that was not our experience.
Went to dinner with my wife for her birthday. When we entered we saw that they were very busy but seated us right away due to our reservation. We met our waiter and he was very attentive throughout our whole dinner process.
My wife and I both ordered Prime ribs and they were cooked to Perfection and outstanding. I would highly recommend going if you have a mind to and we intend to be back very soon again.
Quaint yet dated steakhouse. Service is average with only one waiter for all the tables in our section and a busboy to assistant him. Blande salad. Poor quality dressing. Meat was cooked well and exactly to our order. The vegetables were overcooked and the escargot was well served but missing baguettes. We didn't stay for dessert. Overall 3 out of 5 stars.
We chose this location to celebrate my husbands birthday based on their online reviews. Our waitress Katherine was attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable. The wine list was extensive and full of variety. The food was magnificent!! We appreciated that each course was brought out with the right amount of timing so we could enjoy it and not feel rushed. The starter salads and toppings were fresh, the steaks were flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the dessert was mouthwatering. We will definitely be visiting this location again the next time we’re in town.
Christmas Eve dinner with my wife was perfect. Appetizers of Oyster Rockefeller was a little over done, but we’re very tasty and the Escargot was outstanding. Steaks a spot on prepared perfectly to our doneness and my Lobster Tail was amazing. Our side dishes of house salads and both baked and Aberdeen potatoes were also delicious. No room for desert however I can assure you it’s probably delicious as well.
We went to the Aberdeen Barn after a basketball game because my husband was craving steak. It was a lovely evening. We were seated in a spot that enabled us to hear the piano man while still feeling private. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious. What more could you ask?
Excellent filet steaks. Service was great. First time dining here but had been recommended by a number of people. We live an hour from Charlottesville so are not normally there at 5:00 which is when they open. Wish they opened for lunch. Definitely a great steakhouse with a different and wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Aberdeen Barn is, and for years has been, the place for beef in Charlottesville.
Forget the "competition", the Barn has none, they are in a class by themselves!
Fabulous prime rib, superior service of the kind I find nowhere else, clean and friendly atmosphere.
We look forward to about 3 or 4 visits per year, and hope to continue them.
We dine at Aberdeen Barn before every home UVA game against Virginia Tech. The vibe in the restaurant is incredible. The waitstaff dresses in UVA colors. It's the perfect place to dine on Game Day! Last Friday, we noticed some VT fans in the restaurant, but they were seated in the back corner which was appropriate. We also visit Aberdeen Barn every year for my birthday which is super awesome :) and we try to squeeze in other visits as well. The Prime Rib is to die for. The cocktails are always perfectly made, and the food, no matter what you order, is fresh and delicious. It is a one hour commute for us from our home to the restaurant, but well worth it. How can you not be excited when you are on your way to Aberdeen Barn!?
Although the service was excellent, we were a bit disappointed in the food, especially my medium-rare ribeye. Although it was tasty and relatively tender, it was over cooked. I ordered medium rare and after a few bites I took out my phone to get a better look at the done-ness in the darkened restaurant. It was barely medium. The salads were good, and the blue cheese butter on my steak was great. However, having the steak not cooked to my specification is a restaurant that claims to specialize in good steaks certainly lessened the value to me. I didn't complain about the steak because by the time I lit up the steak to see how it had been cooked, I had consumed a fair amount of it and it would not have been fair to ask them to replace it at that point. That's on me, but the next time we are in the area, we will likely not go back. It's a shame, because it has all the appearances of a good eatery except for the cooking-to-order part.
Third time this year we have eaten here. Tonight our waiter continually served through us, splashing us with water and beverages including dropping soda across my wife’s plate. Food was far below previous experiences. Seafood was over cooked and cool when served. Steaks were less flavorful then usual.
After spending $300 for dinner, will be hard pressed to return for some time.
