I'll give a 2 because the food was decent. The service was atrocious. Word of advice, leave your political opinions away from the table. I ordered a baked potato and asked for just butter, and the server thought it was the right time to say all toppings are served on the side, bc they are still "kinda following covid" and then went on to say she was vaccinated and the only reason was bc of the owner and that otherwise she wouldn't have done it bc " everyone has their time to go" This isn't a review about COVID. I really don't care what you believe or if you still want to wear a mask or whatever. But for a server at a restaurant to dump that on us when I'm trying to have a nice dinner....I DO NOT CARE WHAT YOU THINK. She also went on to tell us that gluten free food was disgusting......we ordered nothing gluten free. Again, I do not care. Incredibly ridiculous. Would never even consider going back.

Among the best steaks I've had anywhere. The prime rib (house special) was the best prime rib I've ever had - so tender, thick and delicious. The sides and ambience were excellent.

The entire facility needs a make over including the menu and more staffing and better chefs. The food was OK but not anything special. The people did their best. The restaurant owners did not meet the needs of the staff nor patrons. They can do better. I would not return.

It had been a number of years since I had been to the Aberdeen Barn. The food was wonderful, and the service superb. The table that we were at didn't lend itself to conversation, and there was a moderate amount of noise in the small room (squealing baby). The servers are top-notch, and all work together. Due to the cost, I will probably not go very often, but it is at the top of my list for special occasions or to treat myself.

Traveling through Charlottesville with family and we made reservations to eat at Aberdeen Barn on a Thursday evening. They were super nice and accommodating, setting up a cozy table outside so family members could bring there Golden Retriever. They brought ice water and prepared a bone for him! Our server was tremendous and the food was delicious. Great seafood, steaks, and prime rib. A very bright spot in our travels. Hoping we come back this way again! Highly recommend!

This was our 32nd anniversary and we have been going to the barn for the last 25 years plus, to celebrate. This was by far the best service and meal we can ever remember! Our waitress was the best and the service and food was excellent! Such a special place to relax and have an amazing meal. Can’t wait till next year! Highly recommend. Bill and Kathy Bishop.

Visiting from out of town, we were looking for a restaurant that served lamb chops and this restaurant was suggested online. My son and I highly enjoyed our meal. We ordered the escargot and the oysters rockefeller as appetizers. My son ordered the lobster tail as an additional side and we both had baked potatoes with our lamb chops. We ate everything that was given to us; it was that good. Our waitress (can't remember her name - has been there for 30 years) was very hospitable and attentive. Highly recommend! If we ever visit Charlottesville, VA again we will be back!

We’re from out of town and selected Aberdeen Barn based solely on open table ratings - it was excellent! Driving up we were a bit worried - it’s not in the cute part of town, it’s by the highway between the budget chain motels and a gas station. From the outside it looks cute but dated. Once we were inside that was all forgotten. The ambiance is rustic, charming, romantic, dark. We took off one star for ambiance because it was almost too dark - our middle aged eyes struggled slightly with the menu. LOL. We started with the house special clams casino and they did not disappoint. There are lots of other apps we would have loved to try as well! My husband had the prime rib - he ordered the standard cut and it was the thickest, juiciest cut of prime rib I’ve ever seen. I can’t even imagine what the thick cut is like! I had the lamb chops and they were amazing. We finished with the chocolate lava cake - not that we had room for it but the sweet was a nice finish to a rich meal. Wine list and service were also excellent. Highly recommend!

We came here for an anniversary dinner and the entire experience was fantastic. We were seated immediately upon entry (with a reservation) and our waiter, Drew, was one of the best I’ve had. He was knowledgeable about the menu, very friendly, and made the entire experience great. The free pretzels and bread were ok but the entrees and sides were where they shined. The prime rib was so juicy and the fatty parts melted right in my mouth. The onion rings were cooked in a manner where the breading didn’t overpower the onion. Not pictured were a side of potatoes that were cooked to a perfect crisp and seasoned so well. The lava cake would have been better without the raspberry drizzle but the creme brûlée was prepared expertly. This restaurant is very much recommend and deserves more attention.

getting on the reservation list was a breeze, the staff were attentive and interested in our having a good experience. The food is fabulous - a reason to go back again and again. The menu is not overwhelming but diverse enough to satisfy the steak-lover as well as one who doesn't feel in that mood that evening.

Very nice evening with friends. We are all local and have gone to the Barn for a long time though not recently. It was as we remembered. Good food and great service. Two had the fried shrimp due to meat allergies and we understand that it is a steak house but the fried shrimp did seem like it might have been from frozen. Otherwise all was good. We ate too much!

For what you pay you expect better service……. steaks were very good… Ranch dressing you would buy by the gallon… Butter for the rolls was hard as a rock… You need to soften it up people it won’t spread on your cold rolls… Glasses are small therefore you run out of drink quickly and it takes a while to get them refilled… Again something you should not have when you’re paying that much for the food you’re eating

As always, “The Barn” delivered a classic steak house experience! The staff welcomed our group with genuine courtesy and helped to make a birthday celebration very enjoyable. Hands down some of the best Prime Rib I’ve ever had. Harkens me back to the old Prime Rib in DC. Other highlights include: OMG Onion Rings, Colossal Shrimp Cocktail, Bleu Cheese Dressing (house salad) and French Onion Soup. Bravo Angela and staff!

The service was very good. My husband had lamb chops and the were quite good. The chicken was rather dry. The decor had not been updated since it was opened. If you decide to go order steak or lamb it’s a steak house.

Aberdeen Barn is a classic old-school steakhouse. I think it opened in 1965, and the decor doesn't look like it's been updated since. I like it--some folks don't. The menu is classic, and they do most things quite well.
