Abel Brown Ratings and Reviews
Abel Brown is one of our favorite restaurants. I have a seafood allergy and cannot have the oysters (which my wife says are wonderful), but everything else on the menu is fantastic as well. We heard they were starting Sunday lunch so we decided to go after church to check it out and AB did not disappoint us! We shared the chicken wings and deviled eggs which were excellent, and shared the bibb avocado and beet salads which were also very good, and then each had one of the three sandwiches (pastrami, BLT and croque monsieur), which were again perfect. We'll come back again in the near future after church.
The fried oyster and pickled shrimp appetizers were very good as usual. My spouse and I both enjoyed our Atlantic Cod dinner entrees as well. The peanut butter ice cream for dessert was also delicious. What detracted from what could have been a perfect meal was the less than charming service. A restaurant of this caliber should be more particular about who it hires as wait staff.
Slow service - 2.5 hours to have the meal (most time was spent waiting). Ordered medium steak, center was actually raw. I pointed out to the waitress after she finally came back and she just shrugged it off and cleared the plate with the half the steak still there.
The sides were great and the oysters I had as an appetizer were fantastic. With one round of drinks, the bill for 2 was $256.00.
Absolutely wonderful dinner! Pickled shrimp cocktail was my favorite appetizer, although the broiled oysters and beet salad were a close second. Everyone ordered a different entrée, and all were delicious and perfectly prepared. Outstanding selection of beer enhanced the dining experience. We finished off with delectable desserts- bread pudding was my favorite. The service was impeccable; although the restaurant was quite busy, we never felt hurried, and the staff was very helpful throughout the evening.
I have been on the hunt for a good local oyster place and Abel Brown was perfect. We had the oysters, charcuterie plate, bouillabaisse, ceviche, chocolate bar, and champagne pound cake. The oysters were great and the best I have found in Augusta. I do wish that the selection was more varied but I am sure that depends on the market. Entree items were also good and the dessert was amazing. Had a good beer selection beyond the typical beers. Overall service was great and it was priced as expected. It is pricey, but I think it was worth it.
Home for Christmas, there were only a few restaurants that could accommodate the nine of us. Thank goodness Abel Brown was one of them! Phil, our server, was an affable guide and helped me settle on my choices. The meal began with excellent cocktails, including a Manhattan that has surpassed Wife Saver on my list of must-do's when in town. I sampled carpaccio and a beet salad, both of which were outstanding, as was my pork shoulder entree.
Seven of us ordered across the Menu: Chicken, Beef, and Scallops. The Chicken is my Fav, and it's the best I've had in any Restaurant. All the Dinners were excellent. The Seafood Charcuterie was fantastic and plenty for two. Salads and Drinks were excellent.
One of our 'go to' places when we want to impress out of town guests.
We really enjoyed our dinner, it was our first time eating there and we were very pleased. My boyfriend said it was one of the top 3 steaks of his life. My food was great and there was so much! The only thing that I didn't care for was the zucchini noodle dish, it had no flavor.
My drink called the Tea Hive was delicious and the Crème brûlée was divine!
My wife and I ate here the Friday before Christmas. Quite crowded, but we had a reservation and were seated immediately. Not sure if reservations are needed all the time. We were seated in the bar area, where there was a work group party but the noise level wasn't bad. Next time I want to try the regular dining room.
This was our first time here. The menu ( available on line) is limited but has a variety of interesting dishes. The server listed a variety of specials also. I enjoyed the pepper crusted tuna, my wife enjoyed the shrimp dish and we shared a chocolate bread pudding for desert (I am not a big bread pudding fan, but my wife liked it). Service was attentive but not intrusive. We will go again sometime.
We were in Augusta for a special week. Found able-Brown as one of the most romantic restaurants in Augusta from the Internet.
I was able to make reservations through open table and request a single white rose which is at our private table upon arrival .
Able-Brown along with OpenTable made what would’ve been a spectacular night and extraordinary night
We booked Abel Brown for our small office Christmas Party (10 people) having never been there before but seeing some reviews. I arrived early to check out the seating which was perfect and found a very friendly, hip vibe to the bar and the staff while I waited for everyone to arrive. Had a handcrafted cocktail while waiting which was creative and very well made.
We were seated and the staff took attentive care of us all evening while serving delicious meals to all. Everyone raved about the food and a great time was had by all.
We made a reservation, so glad we did. The waiter was knowledgeable, kind, friendly and went the extra mile. This, by far, was the best meal I have ever had in Augusta. I live in Charlotte and come here monthly. I would highly recommend it. The oysters, perfect. The salmon, perfect. The drinks were great. If I had a little complaint and I do mean little, the Brussel sprouts could have cooked a hair longer. I still ate them and did not complain because they were seasoned very well.
