The menu at Abe Fisher includes classics with a twist, like chicken liver mousse, borscht tartare, cholent pot pie, Hungarian duck and veal schnitzel tacos. You can also get family-sized portions for certain items like Montreal smoked short ribs with homemade rye bread and mustard. For dessert at Abe Fisher, choose from an almond cake, apple tart, or the bacon and egg cream. There is also a full bar and a wide selection of amari.
By far one of the beat restaurants in Philadelphia. The food is full of flavor and the service is spectacular.
When we arrived at 7:30 pm, it was very noisy, with tables close together. After awhile, other people left and so it became pleasant for conversation. I suggest that tables be spaced further apart, partly for noise mitigation and partly to reduce the possibility of spreading coronavirus. The tapas selection was fun and tasty.
This was our 2nd visit and Abe did not disappoint
One of the best parts of the dining experience were the 2 full size dishes (NOT sample size) the chef/staff brought to the table for our tasting pleasure and critique--The cabbage with anchovies and currants was unexpectedly delicious--The rye bread cake with rhubarb icing was a bit dry and needed more icing
The Latkas and Yapchik were both stars!!!

Everything was excellent, above average by far, but smoked ribs are unbelievable. It’s a pretty sizable portion even when shared. Service was superb. We will be going back as soon as we can find time.
Fabulous meal; fabulous service; fabulous Georgian red wine. We had the duck tasting menu, the best duck I've ever eaten. All of the dishes were interesting, delicious, beautiful.

This was such an amazing dinner. First of all, someone from the restaurant staff reached out to me beforehand asking if we were celebrating something specific. When I told them it was a birthday, they asked for the name of the person celebrating. We showed up to the restaurant and they had printed special menus for our table that said Happy Birthday (name), and provided us each a glass of complimentary champagne.
It was so thoughtful, and made the experience one that we will never forget! The food was amazing, the staff was great, and the experience was great. 10/10!
Absolutely incredible. The food was better than I could ever imagine and the our did a great job of celebrating a birthday while also paying excellent attention to allergies and serving versions of the dishes that took everyone's preferences into account. I will definitely be back!
STELLAR. No two ways about it. Crudo. Outrageous. Sweet potatoes are the kind of fish you ask for before you go to the electric chair. And the friggin shortrib!!!!! Oh my word.

My wife and are I are big foodies. We both work in the biz, and tend to dine out fairly often. We have a long list of restaurants ranging from Michelin Star recipients all the way down to the delco word-of-mouth deli. Abe Fisher has been on our list for a long time and we decided to finally try it out for restaurant week. We were warmly greeted by the manager at the host stand and sat immediately at a nice table. The restaurant was full so the timing there was great. We were instantly greeted and explained how the RW menu worked. Ambiance was decent, music at a good level, lighting was perfect. The swarmed service really worked and never was confusing. My wife's cocktail was inventive and cool. Courses were timed nicely, we were given proper mise en place. Unfortunately, the food missed the mark significantly on every course. The flavors, textures, balance, and presentation just did not live up to the hype. I could go into more significant detail but i will give credit where it is due. The quark panna cotta was one of the best desserts I've had in recent memory. The dishes seemed really cool, and fusion-y and well thought out on paper, they just didn't deliver.
The food was phenomenal as well as the service. I arrived 5 minutes early and had to wait for my table until the actual time of my reservation but once I was seated the service was great. The food was delicious and had a great appearance. Overall, I really enjoyed my evening.

We went during restaurant week and did the restaurant week menu. The breads and spreads were ridiculously good, so that was a hard act to follow. We had the bluefish and sweet potato appetizers, which were good but not great. I had the salmon, which was excellent, and some sort of pear-almond tart for dessert (which was phenomenal). Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and prompt.
The restaurant’s food was as impressive as their ambiance! Would definitely go back

Had a terrific meal at Abe Fisher- fantastic food and good service. The restaurant is very comfortable and even with a full dining room you could easily carry on a conversation. Loved the breads and spreads and the potato latkes were really delicious the dill sour cream and the roasted apple jam added the right amount of sweetness. The staff was very nice and accommodating regarding food allergies. The only minor quibble was our waiter seemed somewhat untrained- had some issue with taking drink orders and forgot to put them in. The excellent kitchen runners made up for him and we were well taken care of overall.
The service was only slightly above average. The food was very good but not excellent. The space was fairly small and compact. The table seemed far away from the table so I was crunched over most of the time.

We ordered the prix fix with the wine pairings , server was excellent , knowledgeable and well versed on the menu and pairings , the spreads came out first , all perfectly prepared , a few minutes later the pickled mackerel then the kale salad immediately , the courses were brought out too quickly and they literally overwhelmed the table and the wines were left to catch up , we asked the server
To slow down and he was very attentive and allowed us to enjoy each course before plating the main course , the Hungarian duck , all perfectly prepared and plated , the desserts were equally well prepared , the food was authentic , unique and our only commentary was that here was far too much kosher salt used in food particularly the kale salad . The service was outstanding , always an outstanding experience

After reading many excellent reviews, my wife and I were really looking forward to our dinner at Abe Fisher, but unfortunately the whole experience really fell flat. First, the style of service here is odd. Although we were greeted by one server, that server was not very attentive and wasn’t often around, so it felt like we were constantly dealing with a different staff member each time we needed something, and no one was really keeping tabs on us in any consistent way. It was very disjointed. As far as food, we knew we wanted to try the Montreal style short ribs (which were excellent), which meant we had to do the chef’s tasting menu. I found it odd that even though this menu came with all the same things as the cheaper prix fixe menu, which allows you to choose each course yourself, we were told we couldn’t choose our own starters or dessert - it was chef’s choice only. We were initially ok with this, since the server also led us to believe we’d be getting extra courses and a nice sampling of the menu, when in reality, all we were given were the same breads and spreads, 2 starters, and 2 desserts as the cheaper prix fixe menu, but without any input from us. The two starters we were given were the salmon tartare and the sweet potatoes, neither of which really seems like a great way to showcase the ‘modern Jewish cuisine’ of the restaurant. These dishes felt like things we could get anywhere. Similarly, it seemed stupid that we couldn’t just tell them which two desserts we wanted, which led to us getting two we weren’t really interested in, and not having olive oil cake we were looking forward to trying. The breads and spreads were ok, but not memorable, and the small amount of bread given was ridiculous in comparison to the large portions of the spreads. When we asked for extra bread, it was a long process to get more. Despite much of the food being pretty good, especially the short ribs, the rest was unremarkable and service was too mediocre to want to return.
