The menu at Abe Fisher includes classics with a twist, like chicken liver mousse, borscht tartare, cholent pot pie, Hungarian duck and veal schnitzel tacos. You can also get family-sized portions for certain items like Montreal smoked short ribs with homemade rye bread and mustard. For dessert at Abe Fisher, choose from an almond cake, apple tart, or the bacon and egg cream. There is also a full bar and a wide selection of amari.
Exceptional meal. We've traveled all over enjoying as many different dining experiences as we can. This one was truly unique. As if you were at the Jewish holiday table in the 60s or 70s but timewarped forward by a masterful magician of a chef with no holds barred. You must know that any dietary "laws" are thrown to the wind. Think back to the day when bubbie happily knew nothing about sodium or cholesterol for just one night. Funny, it was hard to do at first for us but realized that the chef needed us to go along with the program just for this one meal. We chose the short rib tasting menu. Since I really wanted the latke on the tasting menu they ran one out. Also surprised us with a gratis squash dish from the prix fixe side. Friendliest service and surprise glass of champagne as it was our anniversary. When we go back hope that Amir is still there to guide us through our meal. Sorry if I spelled your name wrong.
The staff here was amazingly attentive and kind. We had a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic and we would absolutely return.
Amazing as always! Every plate was delicious and the service was exceptional. Even a surprise from the kitchen for my birthday!
We only lived on Philly for a year. The Hungarian Duck tasting menu was the best thing we ate for that year! So much food with such great service! Pace yourself and come hungry!
One of Philly's finest..................the Chef is amazing!
Interesting and fun menu. Group of 4 got to try almost everything on menu. Return visit required!!
What a great meal and service!!!! Creative and imaginative menu - executed just perfectly. Fabulous way to celebrate a couple of July Birthdays. We will be back.
Food was wonderful, but it's so noisy I could not hear my dinner companion. A bit pricey too!
Great service and everything was delicious. Went for our anniversary and they went out of their way to make it feel special.
Excellent service. It was a challenge to finish the amount of food presented in the tasting menus.
A fairly casual place. Our waitstaff was terrific. The food portions are adequate but pricing is a bit steep for what you get and I found some of the dishes were too salty.
They ‘gifted’ a couple of dishes and we were already full by the time the 2nd gift of sweet potatoes arrived. We hardly touched it. The table next to us ordered the $75 short rib and it was huge. I couldn’t believe it when the couple finished the entire thing with the other dishes they ordered. Nothing memorable stood out for me that I’d hurry back.
Perfect finish for the philly trip! The salted brisket and veal schnitzel tacos are top notch.
Our anniversary dinner was spectacular. The Hungarian duck prix fix was a parade of delicious foods and the wine/sake pairings were spot on. Highly recommended for a special occasion.
Wow what a great experience! Wolf made our evening super memorable. Thanks for the outstanding hospitality and a delicious dinner, drinks, and wine. We can’t wait to return!
Fabulous on all fronts - food & service. Decor, lighting, temperature all on point. We would have ordered everything on the menu. The volume and selection of the music detracted from our experience.
The food was amazing. Could taste the flavor in every single meal brought out. They were able to accommodate us in both menus. Definitely coming back.
Food was good and plentiful, but the flavor of the duck in the main dish left a little to be desired.
Brought a bottle of wine and asked about corkage and they acted like they'd never received that question before which was astonishing. The server then came by after some discussion and told us the corkage was 45 dollars. Everyone in our group found that to be absurd and I'm pretty sure they just pulled that number out of a hat based on our group being 4 people. I've been to a number of really fancy restaurants before and I've never seen corkage over 25-30 dollars. That left a somewhat bad taste in our mouth and we decided to just drink the bottle after dinner. Not sure the wait staff really has much experience.
The food was delicious, we tried almost every dish and nothing disappointed. Highest marks to the egg and bacon cream, the borscht tartare and the smoked salmon crudo. They also have a very good wine list and the decor is quite pleasant.
We had an absolutely amazing experience dining at Abe Fisher! We were celebrating our anniversary, and our server and team did a phenomenal job of taking care of us, and flooding up with "bonus" items from the kitchen. The food and service were second to none, and we will absolutely be back the next time we're in Philadelphia!
Food was great just came to the table way too fast . Felt like speed eating !
Had an exceptional experience at Abe Fisher. Food was excellent—particular highlights were a chicken and crepe dish with morels and kale and stuffed cabbage with cherries. Service was exceptional.
The restaurant goes out of its way to modify dishes according to any dietary restrictions of its customers. The staff also makes sure that the dishes come out of the kitchen correctly for said diner with food restrictions.
The staff is extremely friendly.
Great food, great service. If you go, ask for Alex!
One of the best, most overlooked restaurants in Philadelphia. The menu is one gem after another, and when you pair that with some of the best service anywhere, you have an unbeatable recipe - sorry for the pun.
Oh my goodness. This place is amazing. The food, the people, the space itself. There’s nothing about Abe Fisher that wasn’t perfect for our visit. My new favorite restaurant, for sure. Looking forward to coming back often in the future.
First ... service was excellent ... table was cleaned between each course, servers were attentive but we didn’t feel rushed.
Ambience was odd ... music was blasting (Maybe we are too old) including loud Led Zeppelin songs. Tough to converse and the music seemed out of place.
Food was hit or miss. We had the chef’s tasting - Montreal style braised short ribs. First course ... The breads and spreads were a 10 ! Excellent! 2nd course ... I asked fir no cheese but the salad was covered in cheese ... I should have sent it back. The sweet potato dish was excellent. The 3rd course was the ribs and they were inedible. Felt like I was eating a glass of salt. I could barely swallow the food. Extremely disappointed. We only ate a few slices. My wife agrees with this assessment.
Dessert was also hit or miss ... the maple custard and chocolate parfait was excellent but the raspberry tort was overwhelmed by rosemary ... didn’t finish it.
What an experience! Everything is made for sharing so order something different from each other. You won’t be disappointed! Between the two of us we were able to try our 6 menu items AND 3 surprise and delight items from the chef. An epicurean delight and worth every penny. The waiter was spot on with wine recommendations as well.
Date night with my hubby before Jewish services. Apropos.
Awesome! 5 stars
An excellent all-around meal. Food and flavors were of highest quality, ambience is hip and entertaining, and service was outstanding. Would recommend to anyone and I will be back.
Three of us shared the short ribs tasting menu, and every bite was delicious. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We went on a Tuesday night, so it wasn't very busy, thus I can't really speak to the noise level. An outstanding meal!
Cool space, modern, fun. Great service, very attentive and knowledgeable staff. Excellent and unique cocktails. Well thought-out menu. Unique selections not found in very many places. Every item was perfectly prepared and presented. You will not leave here wanting more! This is what dining should be. Could not recommend any more highly. Outstanding in every way.
Went for our anniversary and tried the tasting menu with Montreal Short Ribs. Highly recommend! Our only complaint was with the music volume— not sure if it was the acoustics of the room, but it was quite loud and made it difficult to hear each other and our server.
Just loved every part of it. Restaurant had a great atmosphere, the wait staff from start to finish were informative and attentive, and most importantly the food was simply delightful. We went with the short ribs tasting menu and each course was inventive and fun to eat. Others at the table complained about the cold coffee (the tea by comparison was appropriately hot) and the staff quickly apologized and removed the coffee from the bill. We like eating out well often and this place ranks right up there as one of the best experiences we’ve had!
We had a great experience. Very delicious food and great friendly service. We live in San Francisco, it met SF restaurant standards! I would highly recommend!
Noise level out of this world!!!!!!!! Brisket was nothing but fat!!! Every thing else tasted of to much of salt!! If you are going to charge me 12.00 for a bourbon at least give me a full 1 oz. shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Borscht Tartare was to die for - such a simple dish done soooo well!
Expensive. The ribs are way to fatty. The taster menu does not provide good value
We were awed by the food and further awed by the customer service. Every staff member was beyond courteous and very knowledgeable. It was truly a pleasure to dine here.
As always, the food was incredible! Love this place...
