Abe and Louie's - Boca Raton Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately one of our steaks was overcooked and the waiter tried to tell us maybe the orders were switched and then he walked away. We have eaten there many times and have had better service. Other than the overcooked steak the other food was very good. It was my husband's birthday and they did bring him a slice of cake
The steak and side dishers were delicious as always, but the real star of the evening was Griff the waiter who made this special occasion even more special. We sat in the back room which was more quiet and it allowed us to comfortable speak with everyone at the table.
This is a first rate restaurant! The service, ambience, wine and food are the best. I have dined in many restaurants noted for their steaks, this is positively number one! The occasion was a birthday and my companion said it was a truly great evening. The Filet Mignon was so tender and the sides that we ordered for it were a nice addition. At the end of the entree our server (Hugh H.) brought over a slice of delightful Chocolate Cake with Raspberry drizzle, and a lit candle to celebrate the Birthday. It topped off a great meal.
Our waiter was very inconsistent busy talking to everyone around but to the extreme. We poured our own wine from the bucket and the salad I ordered with steak on top was not delivered right . My husband and I shared a large steak and I was told that they would cut up the meat in the back and add it to my salad... that was not done. It's a little difficult when you're sitting at a very small table to be cutting up items and fixing them for another platter. We will not return.
Overrated and Overpriced. Had never been there before. Had been told that is was a great place to go for steaks, but it was anything but that night. Such a disappointment. Such a BLAH steak and food. Honestly, Anybody can make a better steak at home.
The $55 Rib-Eye Steak didn't taste aged, special cut at all. I'm all in for a good steak a strong price, but its got to be worth it. This was a Generic steak, blah tasting at best....not overdone or anything...just blah. Had to add extra salt to make it work .. The "$10" baked Potato tasted OLD. Not sure how you mess up a baked potato but they did. And The "$10" brussel sprouts were fair at best....simply cut in half and pan seared. No bacon, onion or special anything....
Not sure who the chef was that day, but I'd fire him and start over. We paid without saying anything. $225 for 2 people. Pretty Strong bill for such a lousy dinner. Can't recommend, sorry.
Honestly we loved the feel of the restaurant! Went there to celebrate my hubby’s bday with another couple. Ordered the Abe & Louie salad which was quite disappointing and rather bland, bunch of lettuce with 3 thin slices of cinnamon apples, a few pistachios scattering on the bottom of the plate, and a very light n boring Dijon vinaigrette. Will definitely not order that one again. Our friends had the Mediterranean salad which they enjoyed and looked a lot more interesting than ours looked and tasted. 3 of us ordered the bone-in ribeye and one had the filet mignon. Sides were the cauliflower purée, au gratin potatoes, creamed spinach, and Brussels sprouts. I knew just my the way our ribeyes looked that they were not great cuts. The cap was tiny and the ribeye was very lean without much marbled, taste and texture resembling a sirloin. The gratin has a nice crust, spinach a little too flat and bland, Brussel sprouts lacked preparation creativity (try those served at Cooper’s Hawk and you’ll never eat them from anywhere else), and cauliflower I make better at home. Everything lacked “deliciousness.” We had the butterscotch bread pudding which was very sweet but the closest to delicious we came to so far...but even that lacked either a sauce or a scoop of ice cream for creaminess ... we ordered a scoop of vanilla ice cream but the pudding wasn’t hot anymore by the time the ice cream came. Just not wowed by the whole experience.
