Abe and Louie's - Boca Raton Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant staff was gracious and accommodating. We didn't care for the first table we were given due to the small size and cramped quarters. The hostess was understanding and agreed to our request to wait for a more comfortable spot. Our server, Chris, was pleasant and knowledgeable about menu selections. The decor of this restaurant is traditional and elegant; not everyone dresses nicely (some grown ups in character T shirts and shorts) but that is not the fault of the restaurant. A few patrons were also discourteously loud (shrieking laughs and guffaws... shrill shrieking for our entire visit). We have always enjoyed Abe and Louie's in the past; this time the food was not quite as delicious as usual. The temperature was fine but the House salad was nothing special and the Au Gratin potatoes were overcooked. The creamed corn is a dish we usually rave about; it was good but not "out of this world" in that it was too dry. The mushrooms were extraordinary; a perfect and savory accompaniment with hearty quartered mushrooms deliciously prepared. My Delmonico was decent in proportion albeit slightly too well done to be medium. I would order a different cut of steak in the future. My husband's NY Strip was excellent and cooked perfectly. We also ordered oysters on the half shell; they were fresh and plentiful. We will go back in the future as this restaurant is enjoyable with prime meats. Will just order differently next time.
Very nice atmosphere for a special occasion and service was on point. Very high price tag however for the quality of food. An appetizer, 3 beers, and two meals with a dessert was almost $300, which would be reasonable if the steak was amazing. It didn’t really have much flavor to it. Would recommend III Forks or Council Oak instead.
My NY strip was perfect. Charred on the outside, pink and juicy on the inside. The salads were humongous and tasty. The grilled asparagus was nothing special. Here’s a tip about the wine. They offer wines by the glass or you can purchase a half bottle (375 ml, about 12 ounces). It is much cheaper to buy two 6 oz glasses of wine than to buy the half bottle. Service was a bit over solicitous, but efficient. This was an extremely expensive meal, but, hey, so is a Ferrari.
We had reservations for 9:30pm but the dining staff wasn't ready. Hostess was not warm at all towards us and we went to the bar. The bartender left us alone at the bar even though we ordered two drinks Johnny Walker Black- rocks & Espresso Martini = My wife said Martini was not good.
Nice table overlooking restaurant!
Had appetizer- Bacon, Porterhouse for 2 "little overdone"- Lobster Mac & Cheese, 2 more Johnny Walker Black-rocks-Chocolate Cake- Espresso and Cappuccino while we watched restaurant clear out. Had $50 dollar coupon on I Phone if we spent $150- but Maitre D took inordinate amount of time to process it. Mad us feel uncomfortable which was surprising since Abe & Louis sent it to my I-Phone. Spent way over it and tipped more than 20% - but did not feel special at all
Disappointing. Have eaten there previously and this time food was mediocre and very expensive. I ordered lobster and it was tough and not flavorful and I sent it back. Friends said steak was ok not great, and another said swordfish was “fishy”. Not what you expect at Abe and Louie’s. Will not run back!
Hubby and I went there for a birthday dinner on a Tuesday night. Shared bone-in ribeye and a few sides. The steak was very good and perfectly medium rare, but pricey ($55). Sides were fine, but nothing special and also pricey ($10-12). Service was quite good. Had to wait a few times to get waiter's attention. What was very disappointing though was the noise level. Somehow they managed to have a very loud and raucous crowd on a Tuesday night. It was difficult to carry on a conversation. More like a pub atmosphere which was not what I expected at that price point. Not sure we will return.
When we declined to accept a table right by the front door, we were seated with distain in a separate room filled with large parties and an extremely loud noise level. Although we have been patrons a number of times before, we will find another steak house in the future.
Love Abe and Louie's. The ambience is great. The food is amazing. We had shrimp cocktail which were huge and delicious, Cesar salad was good and huge enough for two. We split bone in ribeye which was perfect. We also had mashed potatoes and spinach which we shared. We also try and
