Family and friends gathered for a birthday brunch. We were s group of 9 adults and 1 two year old.
Everything was perfect - food, ambience and service, as it always is at Abe and Louie’s!
Best steak in town, always a great meal. Hit a Friday night and it was unusually busy, but we had used Open Table earlier to make reservations for 8:15pm. We had to wait at least 25 minutes past our reservation as the front desk was not communicating. We were told 3 times that we had a table by one person at the front desk and when we went to be seated, the table had been given away by another front desk person. Have never run into this before and it was frustrating already given the later time and lack of cohesiveness you would expect from a restaurant such as this. Ask for Walter, he is a terrific waiter, knows the menu and is incredibly professional yet engaging. Will always go back, as I said the food is amazing, but would like to see order at the front desk.
One of the finest meals I have had. Food was outstanding from the fresh, lump crab through the bone-in filet.
I ordered a fine wine which was decanted without my having to ask.
The service was top notch,
Every time I am in Boston thus is my go to place.
Bobby D was a wonderful server and we had a great time! The special tuna appetizer was fantastic. The steaks and chops are always the highest quality cooked to perfection.
Food was amazing! Great server!
It was great
Awesome service and the food was excellent! If you haven’t tried the blackened swordfish you are really missing out!
Service was fantastic
The food was incredible as usual. We have never had a bad meal here. Our waiter Drew was also excellent - he really helped make our anniversary special. Abe and Louis is hands down the best steakhouse in Boston.
It was all good. Noise level a little high but okay
Yes, it's a little pricey - after all it is a steakhouse - but everything about it was great. The steaks were perfect, the drinks were strong, and the service was excellent --the big three.
Excellent food and service. The only low point is that I asked for a pilsner type beer, which should be cold, and was warm...
The music was a bit to loud at Brunch. For a conversation, sit away from the Performers.
We had a fabulous Sunday Brunch at the bar with Mike Buckley, the best bartender ever!!! The food was amazing and the service was excellent .!!!!!!!
Bone in Rib Eye was excellent!
A good steakhouse in Boston near the convention center
We sat at the upstairs bar and the two bartenders (Bryan & Brian) were awesome.
They were very engaging and helpful with food suggestions.
A classic steakhouse with impeccable service. Steaks are huge so we split the bone in ribeye. Still had plenty. Sides are innovative and meant to be shared. Homemade cheesecake was excellent!
Fantastic in every way! Best meal we had in Boston!
It was my husband’s birthday and they treated him extra special. Always a great time at A and L’s!
This was my second time here with family and friends and it was a very good experience apart from one downside. Abe and Louie's is known as a steakhouse and therefore when ordering the $50 filet, my expectations were above average for the steak preparation. I had ordered my filet to be medium, but unfortunately my filet came to me so raw in the middle that it was hard to even cut. It was sent back to cook some more and when it came back the second time, it was still under cooked. Rather than wait for it a third time after the rest of my table had almost finished eating their meals, I decided to eat around the under cooked portion of my filet.
Moving along to some positive feedback, the side dishes were outstanding. One such dish was the carrot dish and it was literally the best carrot dish of my life! The service we had was also impeccable! Our server literally noticed everything and was handled herself very well. The manager came over to apologize for the underdone filet as well, so I felt a true sense of positive customer service. They really did everything they could to make up for the kitchen's mistake.
Came to celebrate our anniversary. Food was good but tables are seated on top of each other and it’s very loud. Service was nothing special. Other steakhouses in Boston offer a much better experience/value.
Server was intelligent, knowledgable in his advice and patient. Good job.
Great date and lovely staff! We got dessert on the house - our server loved us!
Waiter was excellent. Food was delicious as usual. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Back Bay.
My husband and I were celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary. We got a wonderful table and they brought out two glasses of champagne to help us celebrate our anniversary. We had an amazing dinner - husband got the Delmonico steak and I got the grouper- awesome ! Will definitely go again and bring friends. Also gave us 7 layer chocolate cake to share compliments of the house. Thank you for helping make this a truly special night.
OK, to be clear - Abe & Louis has been one of my favorite steak restaurants in Boston. Last Sunday, as my wife and I were heading to an Aruban vacation we decided to have a special "birthday/Anniversary" dinner in Boston. I ordered a NY Strip exactly as I always do - RARE -- "black and Blue" rare. I made sure the waitress knew how rare I like it (e.g. close to "mooing").
It came out medium rare. While I waited for waitress to come back I did nibble a few times, and then was so hungry, I managed to eat the entire steak. When she finally came back (and she never came to inquire on temp in early part of meal) I told her I had never had such a poorly prepared steak there. I was not looking for anything like refund but wanted to let manager know. Manager came by, and asked me about it, and I lodged complaint. Manager looked at me and said "I'm sorry" and left the table.
So what is the takeaway? At least from my perspective, A&L is still a fine spot. We went on a Sunday night. I am guessing the Sunday chef was not the premiere chef who would cook on Thursday-Friday-Sat. But more important, I am guessing it was the waitress who perhaps was so busy she left my steak sitting for longer period than it should and then came to me more well done. My wife's was also overdone -- came as medium instead of medium rare.
Next time - Grill 23 will once again get our nod for the pre-trip dinner.
Everything was Wonderful, food and service! The steak was cooked perfectly and the fish too!
We had a lovely birthday brunch for me and my 4 year old grandson. The food was fabulous, the service by Anthony was spot on and event was exactly what we wanted. Thank you (French toast was A+)
We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was amazing! All courses were delicious and the service was good!
Quality service, incredible food, great atmosphere.
Fantastic as always!!! Brian at the upstairs bar was a joy! Great drinks, fabulous food, very upbeat energy. Never disappoints.
We had made reservations quite some time ago in anticipation of our anniversary. I don’t know why when making the reservation you are asked if it’s a special occasion because it was never acknowledged.
The waiter was nice but short with us. He never returned to ask how our meal was and if he had he would have notice that our water was empty and my side dish was burnt to a crisp. When the table was cleared by someone else we pointed out the black carrots and he chuckled.
We were highly disappointed and will not return
Service was excellent server was so knowledgable and attentive to needs, table ready upon arrival booked ahead of time through open table, food was wonderful, good wine list. If visiting Boston suggest eating here great time
The rolls are to die for. Steaks great and service attentive
The service was impeccable, the food was outstanding. My date and l thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My date ordered the 20 ounce filet mignon with bone in which he said was scrumptious. The spicy tarragon stuffed lobster appetizer was Beyong scrumptious.
The only wrinkle in our dining experience was .....crying babies which neither Abe and Louie staff nor my date and I could control, alas.
Waiter was amazing!
Excellent experience. From the time we walked in to the time the walked out everything was amazing.
Our waiter Bobby D was superb.
Will definitely go back when in Boston.
Wonderful evening with great food and great service. One expects great meat at your restaurant , but the side dishes were equally spectacular. We especially enjoyed the cauliflower steak and hash browns.
Excellent food and excellent service. Our waiter was very attentive.
