ABC Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Probably the worst service I have experienced in a restaurant of this standard in NYC for some time. Took them 15 minutes past our reservation time (at lunch time) for them to seat us and then a further 15 minutes before anyone offered a glass of water. Server finally took our order 15 minutes later - so now 45 minutes passed our booking time.
Waited a further 20 minutes for appetizers and then another long delay for the main course.
Overall it was almost 3 hours for what was supposed to be a quick lunch.
Food was ok but would not go back.
Loved the carrotini! Followed by the soft scrambled spicy eggs with crisp oysters absolutely delicious! Others had the eggs Benedict that looked amazing. Jelly donut was so good, oozing grape jelly, but I preferred a bite of the chocolate glazed. Great side of bacon and even a nice Bloody Mary heavy on horseradish. We tried a lot! Can’t wait to return.
The food was delicious - great seasonal variety. Service was spotty and strangely absent at times. Food all showed at once. We had asked to order some starters to eat with our cocktails, but the server said the kitchen preferred the entire order at once to stage it properly. Having all the dishes come at once wasn’t a pleasant dining experience.
I was disappointed with the overall level of service and quality I normally get and expect from any ABC restaurant. The coffee came out very late the first time, and both the first and separate second order was lukewarm. The waiter in general was rather unfriendly and not very accommodating.
This place was incredible!!! The food was on point and the service was over the top. Our bartender Robbie made the experience, although we are from the south the fried chicken was out of this W.O.R.L.D. Every drink and menu item was literally the best thing since sliced bread! Definitely a must for a visit to NYC. Great for vegetarians too
This place is very underwhelming. The front of house needs to get their act together. The food is good as it always is. The hosts and wait staff not so great as a restaurant of this caliber should be. I waited an hour past my reservation. While this is happening the hostess seems put off that there are people waiting and excused the fact that it’s the holidays and people are lingering. How about the fact that it’s always the holidays and you should plan for this. Also don’t take walk ins if you can’t seat your reservations!
Once finally seated we waited so long for menus and very lukewarm service. Felt like everyone was in a rush and annoyed by their jobs that night. Usually when you order wine here, you get a taste first. Well not that night. Meh.
I was visiting New York for a long weekend with my two 20-something daughters. We enjoy good food and unique dining experiences and I always research restaurants and make reservations well in advance of my travels.
I had heard and read great things about ABC Kitchen, but my experience was just so-so.
Keeping in mind the busy holiday season, the restaurant was extremely busy. I ended up waiting about 25 minutes for my reservation. I'm not sure I fully understood how they were seating people as it appeared those with reservations waited as long as the walk-ins.
We were finally seated, but had to wait to get get menus, wait to order and had a very long wait for our food.
The food was fine, but nothing spectacular or memorable.
There are other restaurants in New York I wouldn't hesitate to recommend; ABC Kitchen isn't one of them. Overrated.
Love Love Love ABC Kitchen. Whenever I'm in NYC, I plan a lunch here! It's always delicious and the energy is awesome. My only pet peeve is that they do not just refill your tea. They ask if you would like another--- and then charge you for it. Needless to say, I will be back because the food is that good. I just won't order ice tea and wanted to warn other diners!
Overall just FAIR. I don't think we'll be returning.
The four of us had lunch at ABC Kitchen and it was a little disappointing. The space and the atmosphere is very nice, and the service was very attentive.... but the food was uninspired, especially for the price (over $200 plus tip for lunch for 4). The pasta dish was so oily that my wife returned it. The pizza was average as was the fish sandwich. There was very little to remind you that this was fine dining, except the check.
The experience dining at ABC Kitchen was very enjoyable. The food was excellent, the waitress very friendly and the ambiance very lively. However, it was way to noisy for catching up with an old friend. However, that didn't stop us from enjoying our dinner.
The appetizers and entrees were outstanding. They even make it special for my wife's birthday with a cupcake with candle. The dessert recommended by our waiter was very sweet and disappointing (ice cream sundae). Skip the desserts and get another appetizer.
