What Insiders Are Saying
After five years in business, ABC Kitchen is still pretty. But after a recent change in chef, the food is just pretty good.
Simple seasonal dishes, excellent cocktails, and an incredibly friendly and helpful team. This is my favorite NYC restaurant.
Had high hopes. Wait staff was slow and not attentive. Some food items were good (mushroom pizza), while other items were mediocre (kohlrabi salad, cookies). Not worth the price, but the space is beautiful.
It was a nice atmosphere but the food was not worth the price. Took along time for server to get to our table and once food was delivered never saw him again until we got our check.
Wonderful service and food. Highly recommend the veggie burger.
Came with family visiting from CA which included two tweens (13 &10) and was worried the teens would not enjoy farm to table. They loved the pizza, olives and ravioli. The adults LOVED the the asparagus, beets, mushroom pizza, Bolognese, pork chop and salmon. Everything was outstanding. Definitely will go again!
Started off really well. Waited at the bar on our table and got a great drink, bartenders were very friendly and attentive. Once we sat down ... our waiter was where it all went downhill. He did not introduce himself or the special he simply walked up asking if we had questions ready for us to order. It seemed like he could care less to give any recommendations for anything that wasn’t the most expensive things on the menu. And once we put in apps he then informed us he wouldn’t submit them until we placed our entire order.... ok. Food was quite good. We got the pizza, spring pasta, and the avocado carrot appetizer. All yummy. Space was great for people watching. But the service was not good at all... sadly! I would go back if this were not the case. For the prices the service should be on par with the rest of the restaurants in its category in NYC.
Ons of my favorite restaurants in New York!! It’s perfect
We’ve enjoyed ABC kitchen for years. Tonight was horrible! With a reservation, we waited an hour for our table; the longest I have EVER waited for a table with a reservation. We were only updated when we asked the hostess what was going on. Not once were we offered a glass of wine, water and appetizer or anything else during this excruciating wait. Yet we were told repeatedly “the manager is checking on tables.” Once we sat down, the waitress was clearly flustered and paid no attention to us; Yet another 45 minutes until food was delivered. Honestly we saw her taking and flirting endlessly with a table of guys behind us. But she never ever even asked us how our food was. Food was great but service gets a zero. Too bad. I would not come back again until this restaurant gets its act together.
Too noisy for us. Food good but ABC Cucina is better.
great place. but a bit too noisy for our out-of towners. but surely a terrific vibe with a smart staff.
Birthday dinner was fabulous!!! Always perfect. Not one complaint!
Amazing meal! Amazing service! The ambiance is perfect. We love ABC Kitchen!!
Excellent food, excellent service. Always 10/10.
did the chef change? been here a handful of times and loved it. this time it was not very good, portions were smaller. won't be running back soon
This was my first time at abc kitchen and it was exquisite! The ambiance is beautiful- very thoughtful design with mood lighting that isn’t pretentious. However it pales in comparison with the food. I had the roasted carrots and the squash toast with homemade ricotta to start, and for the main, I had the sea bass- my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The service was also excellent- well versed on the menu and helpful without being intrusive. It was pricier than a standard dinner, but worth it. I can’t wait to go back!
We eat at this restaurant often. Food is always delicious and service is excellent and welcoming. From the minute you enter til you leave - it is 10/10!!
Loved it. Delicious food. Reasonably priced and interesting wines. Great service.
Great service by Caroline. She did an outstanding job of
Balancing professionalism, the right amount of bumor, and when do just give us our space. Truly an outstanding server and I write these review rarely if ever.
As always the food here is interesting and very, very good
The staff is very well informed and extremely helpful
Don’t miss the crab toast and the pretzel crusted calamari
Simply, one of my favorite go-tos in the city. Impeccable food with outstanding, constant service.
We had to wait and the table wasn’t amazing.
We enjoyed eating at abc kitchen.
Kind of hard to find but once you find it, its incredible. From the ambiance to the hospitality to the food. AAA+++
Will definitely make this a must stop at every NYC trip.
Amazing service, we arrived late and they still gave us a table, food is on point. We went for breakfast and had the cheese bichitos, eggs Benedicts and one of their pizzas. Eggs Benedict where perfectly balanced joy in every bite. Great ambiance.
Delicious food, well seasoned and presented. Definitely recommend!
The chef let's the food speak for itself in soft whispers as opposed to bold flavors. Fresh ingredients are allowed to have the full spotlight. I was grateful for a small portion option of pasta after eating the meat and cheese plate with bread. Overall, this is a wonderful experience.
Service is outstanding, the French toast is a must try!
We went there for brunch, and the food was mediocre compared to their dinner menu. This used to be our favorite spot in the city, but sadly, the quality of the food and service has declined over the years. And this time, service was really disappointing. It ruined our experience. We had reservations but it took a while for the hostess to seat us. And then when we were finally seated, we had waited for a while before realizing not a single sever was going to come over to take our orders. We had to flag a busser to bring a server over to take our orders. It turns out that no one was assigned to our table. And the server who took our order looked royally annoyed that she had to take our orders because we weren’t in her section. She never returned to our table to see how we were doing. So anytime we needed anything we had to flag down a runner or busser. It was a subpar experience and although we used to enjoy going there over the years, I’m not sure I would return after this experience. It was time and money wasted.
Delicious as always, staff is always attentive and prompt.
Very slow service. We both ordered set menu but took nearly two hours to get our food served. The dessert still hadn’t come and had to take it to go.
We adored Michael DeBarotolo, our server! He was the BEST!
Other than too crowded and lots of people, everything is great! The staff are very welcoming and make us feel comfortable!
Very enjoyable meal. Food was excellent and service was flawless. A bit noisy and very expensive but a very nice experience. We’ll be back.
Was good overall
The food is always delicious, but the service was lacking!!
We had to continuously hunt down our waiter, he would go missing for long periods of time
The bathrooms were really dirty + no toilet paper and overflowing trash cans
Very expensive for the amount of food you get. I’m used to NYC prices, but the food was nothing special and very expensive. I’d try dining for dinner, but it’s definitely not worth it for brunch.
I enjoyed my time at ABC Kitchen. The waiter curated a wonderful experience for me on my first time out. He made a few recommondations on the menu suggestions that enhanced my dinner and brought everything together. I look forward to my swift return
We were here six years’ earlier for a birthday, and it was great to come back and find the overall excellence had continued. Service was pleasant and not over the top. Emily, our server, was great with suggestions for dinner and wine. The food? OMG! Their take on fried chicken is a deconstructed Nashville Hot Chicken with very crisp skin, and Swiss chard swimming in hot honey butter. Just great! The recommended side of mashed potatos were amazing and I have to find that recipe for our mashed potatoes during the holidays.
The desserts were wonderful, with the pie crust of the apple tart shining - flaky, buttery, and perfect with the apple filling. WIne list was a great representation of several regions with some excellent selections.
It’s eclectic, energetic, and well worth the trip down.
