Abby Lane Ratings and Reviews
In booking the reservation I had specifically requested a regular-height dining table as I was having dinner with my mother who is short and has some mobility issues. We were seated at a high top, and told that was all that was available. The table also wobbled. Service was very polite but slow (were were there nearly a half hour before we even had a drink) and then our entrees came less than a few minutes after our entree.
The food was very good, but there's plenty of restaurants in the area I'll likely attend before coming back here.
Food was fantastic. Our table shared a number of small plate and apps, and enjoyed every dish. The ribs were a standout. Cauliflower hummus was unique and addictive. The house made sangria was perfect. The only mildly disappointment was my sister's cocktail which was sadly not well balanced. Service was cheerful and friendly, albeit a little frenetic, which is what you expect, really, getting dinner on a Saturday night in the window right before a show next door. Extra points to our server for asking as soon as we sat down if we had theater tickets, and if so, what time. He made sure we made it out in plenty of time for our show.
Service was excellent and the small plates were the perfect size. Very close to the theater district which was the reason we chose the restaurant. On a Saturday night, it does get busy prior to theater times so it would be best to make a reservation. The time between ordering and food delivery was quick so it is very convenient for pre theater meal.
The food was delicious and the service excellent, but it was so noisy we would not return. And I noticed although we took our time - maybe an hour to eat dinner - which isn't all that long, there were two different couples who say next to us, the first got their food - full dinners as we were ordering, and ate fast and left, and the second couple came, ordered, ate and left just before us. So I wonder if people tend to eat faster and leave sooner when it is so noisy, instead of having a second drink or dessert? Too bad.
Cocktails were fine (although a bit expensive...I don't expect to pay $13 for a cocktail in Boston at a restaurant with nachos). But the nachos were good. Entrees were disappointing. Steak was covered in all kinds of sauce and veggies but there was no flavor. Tasted like it had been defrosted. Nashville chicken was fine but not better than what I could get at an Applebees. Steak flatbread was missing....steak; only a few pieces on it. Overall, nothing special. The menu looks like it will be great, but the food is lacking in flavor.
We went here before a comedy show at the wilbur. It was disappointing that they didn't have 3 of the dinners we requested. I understand not having 1 or even 2 things on the menu but the menu wasn't very big to begin with. I also wasn't crazy about being seated directly next to other diners when the place was relatively empty, and the seats were quite close to the table next to us, so I bumped into them when I was sitting down. The food we ordered was okay but not exactly what we were hoping for.
Food was better than expected for a place right across the street from the Wilbur Theatre. A good choice pre or post theatre. We asked to sit upstairs where it was quieter. Most of upstairs is a bar and low couches which could accommodate larger groups
, but there were a few tables. Kobe beef sliders were delicious. Everything else was solid/good.
Our server was a delight. we try not to be the needy type of diners, but we called her over multiple times during the meal and she handled it with aplomb. For this meal we ordered multiple apps and they were fine. the calamari was tender and the sliders were tasty. The queso could have used a bit more spice bu I understand its being made for multiple palates. Just right for our needs that evening
Meal and service were great. My mom, sister and I were there for dinner before seeing a show in the theater district and the server was so conscious of making sure we got our food on time, and even brought us complimentary chips and delicious onion dip while we waited for our food. Burger, fries, cocktails, and pizzas were delicious.
Will definitely go back here - so glad I found it!
Despite our reservations, in a nearly empty restaurant the greeter seated us at an awkward deuce between the door and the hostess stand. We knew enough to ask for upstairs, but we were responded to with a reluctant agreement. Our waitress with bright blue eyeshadow was awesome, food wast great, hot and fresh. Dessert choices lack.
Place was clean and staff was friendly. Food was ok. My pizza was soggy in the middle and it taste a bit like raw dough. Burger taste great and the fries were ver crunchy. Calamari was very rubbery and took a bit of a fight to finish. Good atmosphere overall.
