Abby Lane Ratings and Reviews
Food was delicious. Lots of great options on apps made it hard to choose! Could use an extra entree option, but they all looked delicious as well. Fun and rustic atmosphere. Food was delivered quickly - almost too quickly as mains came out literally within minutes of getting our apps.
We will definitely go back.
Although my meal was initially undercooked, the staff at Abby Lane handled the situation flawlessly. They cooked me an entirely new meal and gave me a basket of fries while I waited. The server was very attentive and everyone in the restaurant was friendly. Would definitely go back.
restaurant in the theatre district should be prepared for pre-theatre rush - they were not. made a reservation in advance for special lunch with mom - tried to seat us right at door on frigid day. not sure what happened to reservation request. mom's flatbread was burnt. took forever to get drinks. my avocado BLT was just ok. will try another place in theatre district next time!
The wife and I had dinner and a show. It was 5:45 so it’s crowded on a Friday night. The waitress was busy which wasn’t a problem. The only 2 things I didn’t care for was the the Entree came before the appetizers. We both had burgers for the main dish. I wanted well done and the wife medium well. They came out medium rare. As soon as you took a bite you knew it. I ate it anyway. I’d go back only if I’m at the theatre. Won’t go out of my way.
Reservation made for pre-theater dinner.
Arrived early but was offered a table right away next to the door- a cold windy evening made it less than desirable- was offered a table opposite the door/ not much different. I noticed a table 20 feet further away and asked for that. Was told in a very clipped voice that it was reserved. I thought I had a reservation too but accepted the table opposite the door.
The food(flatbreads) was very good as was the table service. After eating, I noticed the “reserved” table was still unoccupied. I guess I didn’t offer an incentive to the host who left his personality somewhere else.
Oh Yes, we passed on the only desert offering. DONUTS!
Great location for theater but little more to offer unless you like 18” wide tables.
The kind folks at Abby Lane went out of their way to find a great table for our expanding group. We had awesome appetizers - loved the nachos - and a wonderful table overlooking Tremont Street. This is a perfect spot when going to a show. Abby Lane our new go-to spot when heading to the theater district.
The food was very good. We tried the calamari which was pure perfection. The steaks tips are fantastic and a must try. The noise level is quite loud, however it's trendy and fun. Loved the convenience to dine prior to going to the theater. We will most definitely return the next time we are in the area.
The restaurant was very convenient for a pre-show lunch. There is a small kids menu and it was very nice. The front of the house hostess was rude when she sat us and the party that came in after us. The wait staff took better care of the patrons. I was disappointed by that.
The menu is different and there doesn't seem to be too much to choose from anymore. I remember going last year and it was much better. Hostesses weren't friendly and kind of snotty. Food was very mediocre and I left feeling disappointed and Unsatisifed. Probably won't be going back.
Host was very polite and accommodating. Server was attentive and efficient. Cocktails were amazing. "My therapist knows about your" is my new favorite drink. Nachos were some of the best I have had in a long time, with amazing favor and lots of yummy guac. Burgers were great and all good was very hot on delivery. Steak tips had good favor but did not have the texture of filet as advertised, this being my only disappointment. No meal here is completed without the donuts AMAZING!!
I'm getting a little tired of being asked to write up a review for EVERY restaurant I go to, year after year. Abby Lane was fine. The waitress was fine and so far as I can recall neither of us died from the food. It did what it claimed it would do: It prepared a couple of decent meals to a decent-looking WASPy couple and nothing terrible happened. What more can I say?
We came to Boston to celebrate a birthday, and I'm glad we stumbled on this restaurant online! The atmosphere was great, cozy and hip and the same time. The food was VERY good, especially the nachos and the small plates. And we love the creative drink menu! All in all, highly recommended. Be sure to go in between showtimes!!!
We were seeing a show at The Wilbur which is right across the Street from Abby Lane so we chose this restaurant out of convenience. What a great find. The food was great. The clam chowder was great but kind of a weak portion size. I also had the ceasar salad with steak. it was also really good. My husband tried the Kobe Sliders and the short rib croquettes, he loved them. Our server was friendly and prompt. The atmosphere was chic and open. the screens in the bar had my date a little distracted with sports but that's his fault. The abby cocktail was awesome.
Even if you aren't going to a show, its worth a visit.
Had been here twice before a show and loved it so was very disappointed to return before another show and have a bad meal. Menu had changed (which was not done online so we were expecting the same good fare when we arrived). Menu lacked anything interesting and our food was just so blah, like it would be in a chain restaurant in the suburbs. Very mediocre - which makes it not worth returning to.
For the purpose, Abby Lane was passable. But, wish they had told us we would be sitting at a low table in the bar area. We had reservations and watched several tables go unfilled until near the end of our meal. We could have been told when the next reservation was so as to allow us to choose to sit at a table - not leaning over our meal or trying to balance it in our hands. Had my 9 year granddaughter with us. The sitting was very awkward and uncomfortable.
This place is very good but I am not happy with the reservation process. I had originally reserved a table for 2, but then I modified it to 3. I received an email from Open Table (OT) confirming the change but I got another email the day before confirming on table for 2. Sure enough, when I arrived, my table for 3 was gone. It appears to be a screw up with the restaurant.
I've been using (OT) for years now and this is the first time ever that I've had a problem. This time I was not happy. The process was awful and the restaurant had to move us upstairs to sit on couches with no backs around a low coffee table...harder to eat a meal. We ended up sitting at the bar which was better, but the service wasn't as good as it was at a table ...understandable because there were only two bartenders working the entire bar, which was huge and crowded.
I might think twice about going to Abby Lane again, especially since they used to serve their wonderful home made chips with a fabulous dip and they have discontinued that. Too bad...
