We chose Abby Lane because of its proximity to the Shubert, and we’re so glad we did. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and efficient, but blissfully unrushed (despite being a busy evening!). Would definitely recommend Abby Lane. And if you’re looking for a nice app, try the cheddar jalapeño kettle chips. Just enough and really yummy!
Very convenient to theater district.
Good draft selections but average bar food fare.
We were there before a Dead concert(without Jerry) so the place was insane- but we got seats, ate and got into the show with no problem- great for any theater events- food was good but a couple items were forgotten- I attributed that o the craziness of the place- definitely would go back if going to a show there-
We went for a pre theater drink and meal. It was busy but we had reserved a table through Open Table and we were brought to a table immediately. Amazing!!! The korean chicken wings were amazing and the cocktails were world class!!! Our waiter was slammed but was experienced enough to be able to keep his tables happy and we honestly felt no delays! Kudos to Abby Lane for managing the pre theater crowd perfectly. Loved it!!!
Always a good meal. We enjoyed the chicken wings, fried chicken sandwich with excellent fries, and Brussels sprout Caesar salad. Packed, so we went back outside and madr a reservation on open table, seated 10 minutes later! Great service.
It's always good from the food and drinks, to the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff, . Service and food are always great, no problems with anything .
Excellent location for the theater. Staff was attentive, pleasant, just the right amount of attention - from the host station, to the waitress and the bus boy. Made for a great pre-theater light meal and drinks, and offered a discount to theater attendees. Will definitely return!
Had a 5:45 reservation for dinner before a show. Had apps, dinner AND dessert and still had plenty of time for the show. The service was fantastic, my burger was cooked to perfection and the donuts for dessert were AH-mazing.
The noise level was a little on the higher side (which is to be expected because of the setting) so I would not recommend for a first date (unless it's a date your aunt Sally set you up on and you don't want to go - the high tops are close enough together that it is easy to chat with your fellow diners).
I would absolutely recommend Abbey Lane for a burger and a chat before a show.
Great dinner out my sister and twin nephews before a show. They even gave us the donuts with candles for their birthday. Very nice
Enjoyed all the small dishes we ordered. Chose this restaurant because of its location right in the heart of theater district and had gone searching for something with good gluten free options. Thumbs up for offering gluten free flatbread and burger bun options (although the flatbread is really a pizza and not a flatbread). Kind of limited beyond that. A bit weird to have a footnote on their menu that claims to identify other GF items, but then not have that marker on a single other item on the menu! Given that the small plates lend themselves to a great sharing menu for a group, would probably not take a whole lot to adapt or offer a slightly modified version of another 3-4 of the small plate options to become a real GF find. Given the effort made with the bread and flatbread, it would take this restaurant from good to great for those seeking this out.
Portions were generous and tasty. Salads were a little rich and too garlicky for my taste. Place also smelled like burnt food...at first not unpleasant but got overwhelming as dinner progressed. Very weird that they only serve donut# for dessert.Really? Menu was smaller than when we last went there but still ample choices albeit mostly small plates
Our experience was positive. I've been the Abby Lane a few times and have been pleased.
Went here for dinner on the way to see a show at the Boston Opera House. It was a quiet weeknight. Tapas were delish and server was very pleasant. I would return to try something else another time. Cocktails looked interesting too, but we did not try them.
We were so excited about the menu but found it changed and wasn’t updated. The calamari was great, but the tartare was made with hard boiled eggs and too many onions. I felt like I was eating a slab of uncooked meatloaf. The burger was ok. I am not sure we will be back.
Had high hopes. The smell in the restaurant upon arrival was akin to old dish rags that had been used a hundred times. I realize it was just 4pm, but come on...it's a restaurant... there should be enticing aromas, not that.
Great service. Skylar was wonderful and attentive. Oysters and wings were good. My roast beef au ju sandwich was terrible. Meat tasted like it came from a deli. The au ju was thick and glossy with a sweet taste. They put two hacked up pickles on my plate...cut on the bias but were more like an afterthought.. they were really just chunks tossed on the plate. Horrible. My granddaughters ice cream came melted in a Styrofoam cup. $118 for just above airline quality food.
Had a great late lunch before seeing Blue Man Group up the street. Staff could not have been nicer and the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend before any show in Boston. Great location!
This was a great restaurant with fabulous service and delicious food!
We were seated promptly by friendly hostess and granted our window seat request. Waitress very helpful/knowledgeable about menu answering all our questions. My burger was cooked perfectly and the French fries were delicious!
We came after a comedy concert at a local theater. I’d never been before. I loved it. Both the food and atmosphere were great. I made reservations but we were able to get seated early. Food came quickly. I’ll certainly be back.
Great food. Interesting selections. Attentive staff
Offers 15% off if you have show tickets! Great value even without that. Very accommodating to reservations. May have been slightly understaffed because our server was very pressed for time, but very polite. Would go again.
The food was very good. I asked for a medium burger, got rare, ate anyway because I had a show to catch. The waiter never came back to us to refill water or ask us how are food was. Had to flag him down for a second beer and then again for the check. This place will do well because if location and vibe. Some more training for waiters and because they turn around orders so quickly they have to slow it up when grilling beef.
Made a reservation for my birthday celebration. We were seated at a tiny table on top of a pole. Drinks were terrible, literally flowery and over priced. This was their version of a martini (see photo). Nachos were good. Waiter tried. But so not worth the money spent or making a reservation.
Great food, slow service.
We went here for a Valentine's dinner/pre show drinks. My wife couldn't eat her clam chowder because she was battling a stomach bug. Our server, Erin noticed and made her a magic concoction of soda water and bitters and it saved the night, and she was able to see blue man group instead if having to go home sick.
Excellent service. Christine was very helpful and knowledgeable.
Everything was delicious! Great spot for before a show too.
Stopped in for a quick bite with my wife before going to a show. Waiter was attentive and helpful with suggestions. She checked up on how we were doing at just the right times. Ordered your basic pub fare, nachos and cheeseburgers which were both well above pub average including well done fries. Their version of an Old Fashioned was delicious, and to top it off they played 80s music for a bit of high school nostalgia! Will definitely keep in mind when I find myself near the theater district.
Went there before seeing a show at the Wilbur Theater.
My only complaint is that they have high tables near the front, and the spacing between the tables is REALLY narrow. You need to be a size 0 to get inbetween the tables.
They have great drinks and I really enjoyed the cacciatore chicken over creamy polenta.
i am a BIG fan of jason santos - so this was especially disappointing. the service was really just OK by the server. the 3 hosts were disinterested - they would minimally engage if you initiated contact. my dinner was a terrible disappointment - lousy salad dressing - just a bunch of lettuce leaves coated with a creamy dressing (not my preferred or expected dressing for a caesar) - a few streak tips thrown along the side of the dish bb the lettuce (although they were cooked well) and a small serving of the advertised roasted brussels sprouts. very unappealing presentation....not great taste. our server never once asked how things were. this is our 2nd poor experience there - i tried it again bc i am such a jason santos fan. now i am done and will not ever recommend it.
This was a perfect place for seven of us to have dinner before a dance performance next door at the Shubert Theatre. Six of us are over 75 and one a high school senior. We all enjoyed our meals. The noise level was a bit of a problem for the older diners in our party, but overall the service was great and the food was delicious.
Our second time there and loved it all over again! We will return😍
Delicious food. Great prices. Loved the calamari. Very clean. Staff was wonderful. Would highly recommend this restaurant before going to the theater.
Went for late night dinner following show at the Schubert. Very pleasantly surprised! Food was delicious and somewhat creative for a gastro pub type restaurant. Excellent cocktails and good selection of wine and beer. Vibrant vibe. Will definitely go again next time we're in the theater district.
Casual, good for a bite prior to a show. Loud and crowded. Good bacon avocado sandwich. Some vegetarian options.
The cauliflower hummus was outstanding! Great for pre-theater dinner. Very noisy and like most Boston restaurants, you’ll be sitting on top of the table next to you.
Great service, from the welcoming at the door to the end of the night.
Reservation on time. Nice variety of choices on the menu. Waiter very personable. Food was delicious. Timely service.
