Always enjoyed this restaurant. Prices are better than other restaurants at fisherman’s wharf. Tip: order the $.99 oysters that are available during happy hour. You can eat the oysters at your table rather than the bar. Good value for the money.
Very friendly service ! Lovely food ! A good discovery for us
We were a group of eight, enjoyed appetizers, cocktails and main courses. The food was wonderful, every single diner was more than pleased. But the service, the service was outstanding! The entire wait staff was superb.
The food and the service were outstanding, as usual. And you can't beat the locals menu for the best deal in town.
Very nice server, but a lot of large parties to attend to, so we got lost in the crowd. Food was fine, but everything felt hurried and rushed. Even took a long time to get change. Chalked it up to a busy President ‘s day weekend. We would give this another try.
Loved the waiter! He was great our drinks were never empty and the food was perfect! We left very happy and very full! I wish I could have taken all the bread home! I highly recommend eating here.
For a place allegedly famous for their calamari, I was disappointed. The "famous original" fried calamari as oily and was of modest size. Also while the Best Western I stated in nearby gave me a Abalonetti business card which the hotel clerk endorsed which stated good for a calamari appetizer. But when we were at the restaurant, we were told, "we are low on calamari" so you can buy it for cash but we cannot give you it under this offer" and offered some pickled artichokes and mushrooms instead. The kind of stuff we could get at any grocery deli.
So we bought the calamari that was supposed to be free and were disappointed by the quality. I suggest you pick another restaurant in the area.
Very touristy - overpriced and not that good. Salmon was blah.
Fantastic staff, straightforward menu with classic flavor, fresh. The antipasto plater is a must as are the variety of calamari.
Went for valentines, had the lobster and abalone! So incredibly amazing, both dishes. Staff was courteous and helpful. On point in every way... and the view is fantastic. Don’t let the other restaurants hustle you! Keep walking till you see the blue building!
Classic, been consistent forever... They do squid right!
Typical of the restaurants on the Wharf. Decent seafood, decent prices. Service was excellent.
My wife had Halibut which she really liked-large portion cooked perfectly. I had fish and chips-thought they were quite average. We shared a calamari appetizer - also disappointedly average considering this is their specialty. Overall a decent experience, enhanced by attentive service.
I would try again and order differently.
Very good and reasonable priced meal. We ate from the Local menu.
We have been coming here for years (we live in the East Bay 680 corridor). It is a very dependable restaurant with excellent and moderately priced food and wine. A few days ago I had the very best grilled Alaskan halibut of my life. It was one of their specials and it rated 5 stars. It was topped with a savory lemon capers butter sauce and accompanied by fluffy and tasty rice and perfectly made Al Dente vegetables. I know the Warf is considered touristy but don't underestimate the seafood offered at the local restaurants. Besides, who doesn't like to eat on the Monterey Bay!!??
fun location, good apps, below average calamari, no taste whatsoever. Service super friendly and helpful.
My husband said the halibut was the best he can recall eating. I had excellent calimari. We loved the food and have been eating at Abalonetti whenever we visit Monterey. Highly recommended.
Lovely spot among the crowds. Great service, and nice lunch. Fantastic sardines!!!
One of our favorite restaurants.
Meh just meh. Would have rather gone somewhere a little nicer and spent a little more at the price we finished with. Oh well it was ok. But just ok.
Awesome place to hit while in Monterey from out of town
one dish did not come till 30 min after all the others, thought he forgot to order. a waiter shoud always come to the table and say its on the way, or whatever, to let the diner know it still is working. Not a word was said. when the mussels and clams dish came it was a very small order which is surprising for this restaurant. would not order that dish again.
Nice restaurant on the wharf. Good sand dabs and pizza.
I can't believe this place had 4 star reviews!
Limp salad , fish and chips equal to fast food chain restaurants. Calamari had the same (way too thick breading.
Pasta was decent.
Nice atmosphere right on the water.
A great pick for seafood and calamari. I have walked by this restaurant a dozen times, but after reading Open Table reviews I tried it out. I took three business colleagues who hadn't been to Monterey before. We all had different calamari dishes and all of us loved them. Service was great. I'll be back.
Over the years this place has deteriorated. The bartender was uncommunicative and not welcoming as he served drinks. Food is good but the place is not welcoming. I'd go somewhere else next time.
I was looking for a seafood restaurant and was able to get a reservation within a short amount of time. Service was good, food was delicious. I ordered the lobster/prawn ravioli. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
They were so sweet and brought us treats for our birthdays!!
Classic Monterey Pier and great Sicilian food. The garlic ... the oysters ... the bread ... the seafood. All great !!!
Marty's special. Calamari over eggplant parmigana.
1/2 price happy hour Marguerita was awful- was not drinkable! Food was ok, not great. Everything was very greasy. Service was very slow.
Slowest service even though the place was dead! Food quality fell short!
Nice place and good food. Great mussels and clams!
We are local and have dined at most of the restaurants on Fisherman's Wharf. We had not been to Abalonetti's for years so decide to give it a try once again. Wharf restaurants tend to be expensive -- Abalonetti's was no exception except the food at best was only adequate. Started with calamari, followed by sanddabs with over cooked veggies for me and small overcooked fried shrimp and chips for my husband. They were promoting their margaritas but the ones that arrived were warm and sweet. We both switched to wine. Next time we visit the Wharf, we will return to Scales, Domenico's or over on Wharf 2, the Sandbar & Grill. All good. We also like Massaro & Santos on the Coast Guard Pier.
We have been coming here for years & they have a great local menu!! The wait staff is amazing, along with the fresh seafood items offered on a daily basis. I love their Calamari Steak & the fresh oysters most of all! Also, you can't beat their antipasto items too. I would highly recommend Abalonetti Bar & Grill to anyone who wants to visit the Monterey Wharf or who is luckily enough to live in paradise, like me!!
Middle of the road.
Went here on a Saturday night with my family. This was a good spot. Food and service was good.
Perfect place to enjoy the wharf and relax. Great gnocchi!
Loved! The Marty Special! Great service, lovely view, delish food!
They make 20 kinds of calamari. How cool is that?!! And it tasted great! Our waiter was awesome too - super-attentive!
My wife and I eat here every time we visit Monterey and we are never disappointed. The food is good and the service is always warm and friendly. Try The Marty Special.
Service could have been better. View was very nice and the drinks were really well put together. Once our food came out we were a little disappointed with a pasta because it seemed all they used for the sauce was butter. Girlfriend did not enjoy her meal. The ciopinno was really delicious.
