It was our first time to dine at this location. Availing of the restaurant week offer, it was definitely a great value for delicious food. The green zucchini soup was delicious and prepared to taste perfect. The sea bream with arugula was outstanding and flavorful. Dessert was just right for a sweet ending. Will go back and try different items on the regular menu.
The food, wait staff, owner and ambiance were wonderful. You should experience it. I ateinside and while others are outside, I think inside is the way to go.
Get the ricotta antipasti.
Actually everything is amazing.
But one thing, don't miss the doughnuts.
Service was slooow but the waitstaff must be used to it and treated us well.
shame your wine list is vast but a very poor selection let me help you call anytime 6317532022 harry dickran sr.
Normal prix Fix lunch is good here. Never a problem getting a table. Food is wonderful. Restaurant week added desert and removed a few dollars from the bill. What could be better. The staff is always eager to see that your needs are met.
Love the presentation and service. It is a beautiful restaurant
I enjoyed a restaurant week lunch at this charming place; the food was excellent, as was the service. I will definitely come back
Went for lunch during restaurant week. Service and ambiance were great, but was left unimpressed by the food, especially considering all the good things I've heard about the place. I could've easily cooked the pasta entree (or a better version) myself.
The restaurant week menu adds to the normal value of their prix fix lunch. The food was excellent as it has been in the past. Consistently good.
Enjoyed a wonderful Restaurant Week $25 lunch. Food was prepared beautifully and was not overly done. Service was outstanding and outdoor seating was very enjoyable.
What s restaurant should be.
I have eaten at A Voce for dinner and for lunch on many occasions and I observe to be consistently good, however there was a couple of misses on my last meal there. Their Veal Milanese was oily. It seemed that perhaps the oil was not hot enough when it was fried and so rather than a crispy breading there was a soggy one. The cutlet, however was not over or under cooked.
The ricotta desert lacked flavor and character.
This is my first time coming for A Voce this location. I was delighted. The food, the service, and the ambience, I enjoyed everything. It was much better experience than uptown one. I would definitely go back.
again i say everything is great wine list vast but missing the most popular wines anywhere new zealand marborugh sauvion blanc
great wine list with the exception of no sauvignon blanc from marborouh section of new zealand which happens to have the best sauvignon selections in the world according to wine magazines and myself
A perfect balance of calm, soothing interiors with quietly attentive service creates a backdrop for the star of the establishment - the spectacular cuisine. Each course was a surprise and delight to the palette and recipes that seemed like slight twists on classic recipes keep you guessing on ingredients and preparations. A perfect spot for a charming evening!
Two for two "a voce" waiters were very disappointing. The first being the male waiter at the Columbus Circle two Decembers ago--he was horrible and smug. I've also been to the Greenwich, CT location years back but it wasn't notable and thus was probably very good. After all more people are prone to complaining then commending and I hate to for that category with this review but alas I unfortunately feel thusly compelled.
The other night our waitress at the Madison location didn't properly listen to us and brought out the wrong potion size for a pasta we ordered as an appetizer for the table. "Enough for the three of us" would probably mean two portions or to at least use your judgement about portion size. But instead of clarifying, her judgement and probably a concern that we only wanted to be charged for one or something led to ridiculously small portions which we were too polite to point out (we simply ordered another appetizer). She was smug and dismissive the entire time too. Even the sommelier was dismissive.
The hostess, food, ambience and noise level (great for intimate conversation--or conversation in general) was all on point but the actual table service was ridiculous and I would expect much more. We were not shy or modest about what we ordered (full meals with apps, wine, multiple desserts with coffees and liqueurs). But even if we were more modest, there is no excuse for such subpar service. I can't even think of an excuse for them; the restaurant was not even at all crowded.
I don't really know what else to say. I'm at a loss and just very disappointed. It's a great location, space and has excellent food, and yet this. Management should seriously consider hiring a fine dining service consultant for their staff. That's all I can think of. I sincerely hope they get better because I do want to want to return and to recommend this restaurant. The owner and chef deserve it.
excellant as usual food is terrific waiters and host are exceptional love to eat there
There are far too few restaurants of this quality left in New York at this price range and comfort level.
The classic modernist interior is a delight.
Service was impeccable, food was beautifully presented (very architectural!) and delicious. What a nice find - great for business lunches (tables spaced appropriately).
One of the best Italian restaurants in NY. Simple like that.
my only minor dissapointment is that among your great wine list sauigon blanc from marlboro new zealand is missing especially kim crawford
There are very few places, even in NYC, where you can get superb food, a worldclass wine list, perfectly attentive service, and a beautiful outdoor setting all in one restaurant. A Voce is one of those rare places.
My friend and I were quickly seated. I complained about the loud "music" and the feeling that I was sitting in a ditch (low chair) and we were immediately seated elsewhere, solving both problems . We left feeling well cared-for. We would return.
Always feel welcome here, helpful, friendly and reliable. Quite expensive for small portions, but each bite is delicious and considerate, and the staff doesn't rush and is knowledgeable and courteous.
Appreciate the menu variety, our party of three consisted of a vegetarian, meat lover and seafood fan and we all enjoyed our dinner. Thank you A Voce and congratulations in staying consistent in maintaining your high standards.
Have been twice within 2 weeks, first time my booking, second invited by a friend. Mixed reviews of dishes first time allowed me to have a better experience the second time by knowing what to order. The Tuna Crudo, Fegato, Gnocchi and Scialatielli were all excellent starters. The Branzino, Maiale,Agnello and Fiorentina are my suggested entrees. Stay away from the Pollo ... mediocre at best! The absolute MUST have dish is the dessert Bomboloni alla Toscana... EVERYONE at the table , on both occasions, said it was one of the best desserts they every had!
Restaurant has too many tables in a small space. Our table was near a column where the waiters and waitresses passed between. They kept bumping our chairs which was fustrating.
Food presentation was really nice.
Food was mediocre, small portions and overpriced. We have been here 3 times and this time we were disappointed. We will not be going back.
I'd eaten at Voce at Columbus and loved it. Perhaps the fact that we ate the Restaurant Week menu took away from the prior experience as the selection did not include the charcuterie- antipasta entre and was a bit limited. The soup was ok and only lukewarm, the flounder tasty but way small and the dessert, lime meringue pie was the highlight. The waiter was friendly but service was poor. We waited WAY too long for attention after the main dish and our coffee was so late that we had to cancel it after being there for 1 1/2 hrs+ for lunch! A pity. I'd selected the restaurant for an industry colleague and found it a bit embarrassing, did not live up to expectations.
I've been several times and had always enjoyed the food. I went this week to check out the new chef (and brought 2 friends) and was underwhelmed by the food and shocked by the prices for what you get it. I had the lamb chop and it consisted of 2 truly bite size portions and nothing else on the plate for $34. The steak for 2 was $125 and fine. I eat out in NY a few times a week so know what to expect where. Wish the old chef was still there.
We visited the restaurant for a late dinner after our arrival in NYC and were more than happy that the staff met all our expectations and was willing to assist our several requests with pleasure. Excellent service was combined with brilliant food and an outstanding wine, so we woukd definetely recommend this restaurant!
The food at A Voce was quite good, with a slight experimental leaning.
Unfortunately, I was there on a slow night, in the midst of a snow storm, and the waiter decided to make up for his lost tips by pushing us to order more, and towards more expensive items. He refused to answer simple questions directly, and would not make any recommendations, except to point to the higher priced items. When we said what we wanted, he kept trying to get us to order more.
This is the worst service I've had in years. The waiter is supposed to guide you through your meal, not squeeze you for his own benefit. It was wildly inappropriate for a restaurant of this caliber. I would not go back.
A group of friends and I made a reservation for 8 pm on a Monday night. Although the food was wonderful, and we had the restaurant to ourselves mid-way through our entrees, our waiter was constantly rushing us, and even told us that we had to order quickly because the kitchen would be closing soon. We ordered an appetizer and dessert to share, but certainly were not hogging the table or keeping anyone late - we were out of the restaurant before 10 pm. It's New York City - if you accept a reservation at 8 pm on a slow night, please don't rush diners out.
This is a lovely restaurant with EXCELLENT customer service. The food I ordered was delish and they catered to my food allergy. However, my pasta portion was a bit too small.
Out of this world AMZING! This dessert is the best of my lunch experience.
Lovely plating, too pretty to eat. Taste wonderful.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
A Voce is an fantastic restaurant with outstanding food and service. Every phase of the meal offered an exciting and delicious voyage that had both my wife and I very satisfied with our selections. From the appetizers to the entree to the delectable desserts, a terrific experience. The Wait service was also very friendly attentive but non intrusive so we could enjoy our meal, our conversation and if there was something we needed, a waiter was immediately available to assist.
Forget american italian and bring on delish thin sliced grilled calamari
Try to frequent different restaurants when we are in the city. Don't know how we missed this place for so long. Great food, wonderful service...nothing negative to say about it. We plan on revisiting. Too good not to~
This was a great spot for a lunch meeting. Delicious Italian food.
Every aspect of my experience at Avoce Madison was amazing. I took my parents there to celebrate their 49th Wedding Anniversary and everyone at Avoce made it special for them. From the instant we walked in and the Maitre d wished my parents a Happy Anniversary, to the customized menu and our fabulous server who made the night, everything was spectacular. My parents were raving about their experience days later.
