This is a great farm to table restaurant. Food is excellent. We love the small quaint cafe atmosphere. The small details make it stand out.
Food under the new chef is exceptionally good. Service not quite the personal touch as with the previous owners...but certainly professional. no complaints. Price at the higher end of top byos in the area. But, the food justifies that. A be back for sure.
Took us a while to get the reservation but well worth the wait!! Service was very good and our food was served at a good place (some "hot" restaurants will try to turn over tables") We started with the grilled octopus and the lamb special as starters the prep and flavors were great and actually complemented each other. The rabbit stew was a pleasant surprise and delicious and the short ribs melted in your mouth. Can be a little loud, but there was one large party which always turns up the volume but we managed to talk among the four of us without too much trouble. Overall its a keeper in our books and we will definitely add it to our roster of "go to" restaurants
usually have a good experience here - will continue to keep going. Waiter was awesome
We love Victoria. Amazing lady and she gives the best sincere..calm.. and warm service. The octopus dish is so beautifully prepared in large bowls with garlic and greens. The shrimp and sausage in large bowl is phenomenal and delicious but was a bit overly salted that night. The chicken entree was really tasty but too meagre a presentation and should have some interesting veggies to fill the plate for the money and for an entree. The entrees are coming on this thin rectangular plate that is more of an appetizer plate and it's a disappointment to look at ...we noticed this too on another visit for an over 36 dollar entree with hardly any accompaniment....it was like "bites" of great food for a main dish. I'd rather then get the larger bowls with appetizer dishes as above that have more to look at and offer, or the very good mussels versus a disappointment with sparsely presented entrees on a thin strip of a plate. The coffee is always excellent. Choices of cheese still are great...actually even better than in the past...and these have lovely little accompaniments..unlike the entrees. Victoria is our last thread to the really hospitable days with Dan and former wait staff. We miss too the Wednesday night surprise amabushe...yum. oh well. Beautiful large farm steaks are gone and which were worth the hefty price. I guess it's octopus for awhile till those awful rectangular thin plates for entrees are in. Am I the only one noticing this?
We We miss the old owners' presence among the diners and participation. It had a?warmth and appreciation to it and the former owner extra effier with a daily delight of flavored butter. The rolls don't have the same exquisite taste.
Have been enjoying ATH since it first opened. The new owners have kept the general feeling of the restaurant going, farm to table, but have dropped a few of the touches that we always looked forward to- honey butter for the Parker House rolls, a daily pizza selection, an enticing made on premises dessert menu. It also seems that they have had changes in their wait staff, resulting in very pleasant people but less knowledgeable about the menu than the long-standing servers that we expected. Given 2 options about the oysters available when we were there, the waiter could only tell us about 1, explaining that he had not had time to see or sample the newest oysters. Our salads and entrees were very good (if somewhat over-priced) but dessert was disappointing. They need a new recipe for their bread pudding. We will give them another try in a couple of months.
Great neighborhood place for lunch. Although the food is very good, the close quarters and lack of atmosphere leave it a little short.
It is on par with the previous owners.
They should offer diners a piece of bread with soup.
Service was outstanding. Food was good, though portions were a bit on the smaller side. I would describe the ambiance as 'french, country, chique.' I would definitely go back. Didn't know in advance that it was BYOB - but luckily there was a wine store across the street.
Wonderful Waiter and the food was fabulous.
Went there to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. The food was excellent, the waiter was very nice & helpful. Nice quite, romantic setting. Highly recommend!
One of my favorite places. Their menu never ceases to amaze me. Highly recommend
Food quality and service both excellent. Tables little too crowded together. Timing of prix fixe dinner also excellent. Reputation well deserved.
My niece and I had a great lunch. Nice atmosphere, great service, and the ATH muscles were, as usual, delicious! It was a pleasant, relaxing lunch
I had dinner here with a friend on a Friday night. This place has a very cozy atmosphere and the staff are very attentive. The menu is small but wonderful. I wound up getting 3 dishes from their bites and appetizers section because I couldn't decide on just one thing. I ordered the butternut squash soup - delicious and hit the spot on a cold night. I also ordered the Txistorra (sauteed chorizo & shrimp, fingerling potatoes, mushrooms, jalapeno garlic-herb pan) - very tasty (close up of this dish is included in my review); and finally the Sprouts (roasted & fried brussel sprouts, sesame seeds, thai chili sauce) - fantastic and probably my favorite of the 3. That said, I would get them all again. My friend order the Barnegat Sea Scallops (with cauliflower/ turnip puree, oyster mushroom fricassee, sage brown butter). I did not try her entree but she loved it. I highly recommend this restaurant but suggest making reservations if coming for dinner being that it is a small place.
We had lunch at A Toute Heure:. The food was delicious and the service great: we go back again
Fabulous and fresh food, great service
The food is always amazing! If it is busy the service can be slow but it is always well worth the wait.
Always friendly. Best octopus and organic farm foods . Fabulous coffee and dessert. Warm and kind accommodating staff ....we love Victoria. Already miss Olivia and Dan. We feel st home. Late nignight and never rush feel after ten or later ....
wonderful as always, brought my son's there for the first time they too loved the food.
As always - Fantastic!!!. Excellent service and wonderful food.
Service was not nearly as good as when under prior managment. Food was good, but the experience overall was average. Under the old owners it was obvious that the entire staff was happy, and it radiated throughout the restaurant.
As my wife and I were having our wine - before ordering anything - we were presented with the check - for a nearby table, and as she presented the check the lady asked "who's paying?" When dinner came, my entree had no grilled seasonal vegetables as the menu promised.
ATH has always been a special place for us, but we will be looking elslewhere from now on.
Food was excellent, plates cold although food was warm. Bread was cold, not just room temperature, but really cold. Service was good.
We have been going to ATH since the earliest days of the business. This is the first time going since the restaurant was sold to a new owner in the Speing 2017. I was very impressed. The food and service was every bit as good, even a touch better. This visit we had about five or six of the small plates and they were all great. We skipped entrees and dessert. Will will go back and try more dishes.
We had lunch at this restaurant . The food was very fresh and delicious . Some of the dishes were very well creative,
Our new favorite spot. Great food, charming atmosphere, friendly service.
The service was very good and the waitstaff was friendly. The mussels in all three ways were fantastic. We weren’t rushed and had a really enjoyable evening. The restaurant was cozy and the noise level was fine . Parking can be a challenge but there is a town parking lot a few doors before the restaurant.
Really really good french type cuisine in very quiet setting. Grilled octupus and chicken was fantastic as was the grouper. Friendly service. One of the best restaurants in Union County
I’m very disappointed with the owners’ lack of transparency regarding their special occasion pricing. Their menu on Open Table for New Years Eve was not updated to reflect their New Years Eve pricing nor were the sky high prices reflected on their menu when we sat down at our table. I can understand hiking prices for special occasions, but the owners’ total lack of transparency on their pricing seems rather underhanded. In any event, $300 plus for a dinner for 2 at a BYO is completely ridiculous anywhere west of the Hudson River regardless of the occasion. Food and service were good, though.
Visit was New Years Eve. I like to review a menu before I go for dietary planning and budget. There was a special 4 course menu. Had no idea until I sat down at the table. It would have been nice to know beforehand. Although the food was quite good, I would not have made reservations. The value was not there for me. On top of high prix fix charge, they was an additional charge for coffee. That really put me over the top. At that point I felt the price was really ridiculous. Next time full disclosure would have been nice.
The restaurant is very cute And feels like a farm home. However, the menu is very limited, the food is simply fine (not wow!) and is overpriced - with no reasonable priced options. The mussels in the fondue had little flavor and the black bass was tasty, but not anything special. I won’t be going back - as there are too many other good restaurants that have a fuller menu, more reasonably priced with better tasting food.
We always looked forward to coming here for special occasions. However, this time for my wife's birthday, after a change of owners, it no longer feels special. We didn't have a good first impression, when, upon arriving, we were pointed to our table and not escorted to our seats. The staff, although competent, was not as personable as the previous staff. Although never inexpensive, the prices seemed to be more extreme. The presentation of my M.C.S. (Mexican Corn Salad) appetizer seemed somewhat haphazard and not very appealing. The dish itself was ok, but if I ever return, I would not order it. My wife enjoyed her Brussel sprouts, bringing the leftovers of the large portion home. She also enjoyed her entrée of scallops, except for the bits of sand that remained, demonstrating less than pristine preparation. My pork chop was large and well-prepared. However, again, the presentation left something to be desired, burying the accompanying vegetables in a flat mess under the chop. For desert I had a healthy portion of crème brulee, which was very good. However, my wife's apple crisp was not what she expected. It had an apple slice and cubes strewn about, some smears of caramel on the plate, and what seemed like an afterthought of crisp/crumbs tossed on the side. Also, her birthday candle was presented on my desert, not hers.
Although not bad, our experience was only good, not special. It didn't match our very positive experiences with the previous owners/management/staff, especially at these premium prices. I don't anticipate returning any time soon.
We had a standing reservation at the old place for years - ate there more than 100 times. This is just not close to what it once was. Prices have not changed but the product surely has. Sad to say but we won’t be rushing back.
Honestly, I knew something wasn’t right when we sat down. Now that I’m home and googled it, I can see that the ownership changed in March. Not a disappointing experience, but certainly not what it was. Service wasn’t as great and knowledge of product just wasn’t there. They need to step it up to stay on top.
Wonderful food and great atmosp
Great place to relax & eat!
Food and service were above average but prices were pretty steep compared to when the previous owners were here. Would recommend but would warn about high prices.
Absolutely fantastic. Not much else to say.
Outstanding creative food. Attentive service and just a delightful evening.
We’ve been to A Toute Heure a few times and it never disappoints. Food is delicious, service is great, and staff knows the menu very well and can give recommendations. BYOB is a plus as well. Make sure to make reservations well in advance! The fresh rolls are incredible. I could just eat that as my meal. Next is trying the brunch!
Very good food and cuisine.
A little noisy
