A Toute Heure Ratings and Reviews
Very quaint and cozy, the new owners didn't disappoint, just as good as it was under previous ownership. Hard to get a reservation though and you cannot book more than 30 days in advance. Overall great food and ambience, service was good. A little on the pricey side.
I have been here several times since the new owners took over. The food has been superb on all occasions. I particularly think the grilled tuna lunch dish is the best I have had anywhere! We had a party of 4 last Friday and everyone was thrilled with their choices.
First time visit and the experience was excellent.
Will go again. Make sure you get reservations and request indoor or outdoor seating. Tables seem to accommodate 2-4 people. BYOB Smart Casual Dress. Expensive, but the food, service, and ambiance will not disappoint.
My wife and I returned to the restaurant for the first time since it was taken over. From our apps to the main course, to desert, the food was OUTSTANDING. We both commented on the flavor in our pork chop and chicken dishes was incredible. We will be coming back very soon. I would highly recommend given the new owners and chef an opportunity to show off their talents.
First time at ATH under new ownership. Still working out some kinks (no special butter with the Parker Rolls, which weren't fully baked), but everything else was amazing. Food presentation was beautiful. Flavors were spot on. Overall, they're getting the kinks ironed out - but the meal was amazing!
Excellent service and the food was spectacular. My husband had the pork chops and said they were the best he had ever eaten. I had the Moroccan Chicken which was beautifully spiced and delicious.
Great service- never rushed- yet the wait staff were attentive.
Very nice setting and beautiful presentation of food.
What a lovely place this was to meet my sister for brunch. She and I have a lot of dietary restrictions and were able to make small alterations to easily enjoy a great brunch together. We decided to split two items and the chef was so nice and made us each separate portions, making additions to make each portion lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed outer visit.
My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary. I've been here in the past, but for brunch which is also a treat. We had the tixtorra and duck special for our appetizers. Both were scrumptious! I had the scallops for dinner and they were literally the best scallops I've ever had! My husband had the duck for dinner and it was delicious. The bread pudding and pear desserts are also amazing. We will be back!
Death of a restaurant. Hubby and I can overlook the noise level and the lack of polished service, but ATH, at its core, always served delicious food. Not a single thing we ordered this weekend was worthwhile. Roasted veggies came out tepid, soft-boiled egg was nearly ice cold (!). Octopus smelled not unlike lighter fluid. Mains weren't any better. Do not be swayed by recent reviews in the press - this restaurant has lost its appeal. Sure, there aren't many great places in NJ from which to choose, but ATH with new owners and a new chef needs to earn good reviews, not inherit them. Really, really sad about this.
This is the first time we have been to ATH since the change of ownership. The food was good but I was very disappointed that they no longer have a Vegetarian Menu- this was once of the main reasons we went to ATH! I was informed that they would modify most dishes on the menu but then I just ate a bunch of sides...it was good but not amazing like how my meals used to be there. The bread was excellent as always but we didn't receive the butter they used to give (we had previously enjoyed homemade pumpkin, garlic, etc). My husband loved his duck meal and we had cheese to start which was excellent.
This used to be one of our favorite places- please bring back more vegetarian options!
One of the best dinners we've enjoyed in a long, long time. Simply put, the food was excellent. Wonderful and inspired choices, fresh ingredients that made the flavors pop and a courteous, engaged staff. Would absolutely recommend to family, friends and those interested in a great night out.
We've have eaten here many times before. This is the second time we were there since the restaurant changed hands. The food was good. Not awesome but good. My husband thought the chicken was very good. They eliminated a lot of the specials. The rolls (famous) were a little greasy. I had a mussel pot that was under-seasoned and over-powered by a tomato base. A little disappointed as I had ordered the dish the time before and it was done really well.
I hope that this restaurant stays on point and stays consistent. It would be a real disappointment as this is my go-to place for mussels
Nice ambiance but food could be better given the price level. Prime steak was not tender, somewhat chewy and not juicy. Tasted more like chain restaurant steak rather than what you would expect from a fine dining restaurant and definitely not for $45, especially in NJ. My wife's fish was not bad, but again, not what you would expect for the price. 150 bucks later, the anniversary dinner did not live up to expectations.
The food was excellent and the service was attentive. It was difficult to talk as the room is small and the restaurant was full and noisy.
Although the rolls were excellent I think it is a little tacky to make you pay if you want more than one. The food is priced at a premium so I think giving two rolls would be nice.
ATH is a hidden jem! The food was delicious, the ambience was relaxed and the staff friendly. Went with a group of friends and was overall an amazing experience. I can't think of anything that could have been better. I can't wait to return for another amazing meal and fun filled evening. Thank you ATH for providing an extraordinary experience.
The food was delicious! Mache salad with fresh local vegetables with mustard dressing was delightful. Mussels with wine, tomatoes, shallots and herbs was amazing. The broth was flavorful and seasoned perfectly. My sister had the soft shell crab sandwich which she enjoyed. She had the lavender creme brulee, which was exquisite. The texture was smooth and creamy with just a hint of lavender... Heavenly. I had the grilled peaches which were actually a bit more savory but a nice - not sweet finish to a great meal. Service was attentive.
A Toute Heure is a lovely restaurant and the five stars it has truly shows in all the details from the minute you walk in down to the little details of stellar service and even how good the candle in the bathroom smelt haha.
Overall it was an excellent experience and quality food. A little salty for my taste, but once again that is just my opinion (and everyone has different taste buds!) and the composure of each dish really is thought out and beautifully plated.
I would keep an eye out on their menus, it's seasonal and I'd probably let that be the deciding factor to if I went back or not, but the evening spent there was definitely worth it.
We were not impressed by the food. The tastes were muddled. The best part of the meal wete the rolls & the ricotta toast appetizer. I would not go back especially for the cost of what you get. This place used to be great.
