Excellent food. Very creative.
Set up for sharing with large lazy susan in the middle of the table.
Great value for the quality and quantity.
Good food and service. Lo mein a bit too greasy and salty for my taste. Overall a great dinner.
A Single Pebble is one of my favorite restaurants. The atmosphere and food both are outstanding.
The food was poorly prepared, fir example, the pork dumplings were all dumpling and no pork. The beef was over cooked and the noodles were dripping in sauce.
Highly recommend the tasting menu - really got to try dishes I might not have ordered and one that I definitely would have - delicious
Excellent food and our party had a lovely dinner and a wonderful evening. Thank you!
This was my third time going to A single Pebble and my second time ordering the tasting menu. It is worth what you pay for it because of the sheer amount of food that you get with it. The tasting menu experience is also very fun because the next dish is always a surprise!
Went for my birthday and had a nice time. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Server came right over and offered drinks and explained a special chef / staff inspired 9 course tasting menu which we ordered. The food came at a regular pace and was delicious. Great variety of tastes. There were many other items on the menu that looked interesting
Good food but a little on the sweet side.
It would be even better if the flavors were a little more Chinese.
It's great food, excellent service and reasonable in price. A go to in Burlington for sure.
Single Pebble is AMAZING! Our first time here, but not our last. Very accommodating to our vegetarian and gluten free group. Try the mock eel, and the Thai red curry soup. Shareable and delicious.
The Green bean side dish was we ordered with apps was so good we ordered s second plate with main dishes. We became a party of six as friends arrived in Burlington earlier than expected and the waitstaff accommodated us quickly.
The only complaint was the room we were seated in had open windows without air conditioning and even at 9 in the evening it was sweltering hot inside.
Favorite Chinese place in Vermont. Run by a family, great food and ambiance.
5 spice chicken was very salty. GF tangerine chicken was very good. Waiter acted like he didn't want to be there and food did not come out together. Seems rude to not serve both diners. Not worth the $$$.
Enough good things. Wish they had a branch in Portland Oregon where I live!
Everyone had a wonderful time, the Single Pebble dim sum Sunday brunch is legendary among foodies in this area and we only wish they would have it more often than once each week.
Fantastic food, amazing cocktails and great service. Wonderful time was had by all.
Very fine and creative Asian cuisine in downtown Burlington. Menu is not entirely authentic Chinese as the chef adds his/her own creative slant to the menu but ingredients are all very fresh and include authentic Chinese staples (ie, tree ear mushrooms, black bean sauce). Do not go here expecting to order General Tso's chicken or any typical take-out fare; the only pedestrian item on the menu is fried rice. Menu offerings are fairly eclectic yet delicious with a bent towards the spicey.
As there were only 2 of us, we ordered a variety of small plates and noodle dishes in an attempt to try more items (admittedly, entrees are fairly pricey); portions were ample size and we still went home with left-overs. Our selection: the hanging pork (tasty and not fatty); chicken dumplings in peanut sauce (also tasty); stir-fried string beans (very good, not oily); vermicelli noodles with pork and black beans (aka "ants climbing in trees": excellent) and Tan Tan noodles in peanut sauce with shrimp (nice little kick added). All very good choices!
Tables are spread out in different rooms and levels which makes for a fun ambiance and reduces noise.
Service was not as bad as expected, given many reviews. Still, our dishes came out in random order, which admittedly allowed us to pace ourselves but was attributed to backed-up orders in the kitchen (why is that at 7:30 pm on a Tuesday eve?). Waitress was pleasant but lacked humor and made an effort to educate me on Chinese menu and eating habits ("everything is eaten family style"; well, geez, of course, as mother and son, there were only 2 of us!) as if I was among the uninitiated. I am not and kind of resented the approach.
I would return but would prefer to see some of the Asian staff out of the kitchen and on the dining room floor. I found the serving staff a bit too buttoned up and humorless.
The most creative asian cuisine I've ever had. Every dish better than the next. We ate all vegetarian and I'd recommend any carnivore to try that here! You won't be disappointed! Creative and yummy!!
I've been here several times and I am never disappointed. This visit was excellent as usual. Great food.
Food was perfectly prepared. The Chop Your Head Off soup was most excellent.
Fantastic! Asian with a creative flair. A favorite when we're in Burlington.
Great dim sum on Sunday. Very filling, wish I could eat more. Decently priced.
Excellent meal, have eaten many times and we are always pleased. Great to go with a medium to large sized group, eat family style and taste a little of all the dishes.
Excellent food, especially my daughters vegan meal, Crisp Sesame "Beef". Service was prompt, polite, informative. Water glasses constantly attended. Definitely make a reservation though, they were very busy on a Sunday evening at 5pm.
Awesome Dim Sum!! I forgot to mention that we had vegetarians in our party when making the reservation. They were super accommodating after I asked upon being seated. Lots of delicious options were presented vegetarian and not. ALL were delicious. Highly recommend.
The Sunday lunch dim sum was excellent. Only one item made with kale was not up to the usual standard. Everything else was very tasty.
After we had all ordered our food, the server added "The meals will come out as they are ready and placed on the center so you can all share." We all looked at each other, surprised. We had never been to this restaurant and agreed that we would have ordered differently, had we been given this information when handed our menus.
Had a great dinner with my wife at Burlington Vermont's A single Pebble. Menu offered many options to choose from, chef's tasting menu seemed very appealing, which we decided we shall do on our next visit. Service was great, the cocktail menu creative. Chinese menu was authentic and creative, and was very flavorful. It surpassed our expectations.
There are many more items on the menu we are looking forward to trying for our next visit.
Fantastic food and wonderful choices for vegetarians.
Very good monkfish special. Chicken dumplings were also good .
I'd never been before but was pleasantly surprised by the wide array of food and drink options, not to mention how large the place is. We had a huge 20+ person group near us which made conversation rather tough for the first part of the evening, but once they cleared out it was a completely different atmosphere.
Amazing wait staff, and wonderful, bountiful food that you will absolutely have take-home from.
We greatly enjoyed the chef's tasting menu. Never a bad experience at a Single Pebble.
Consistently excellent. Not "Chinese food" in the usual American sense, but really amazing, delicious cuisine. The vegetarian options are wonderful, with delicious dishes featuring vegetables, but also wonderful fake meats that stand in excellently for various meats. The Buddha's Sesame Beef is one of my favorite dishes anywhere! Seafood dishes are also excellent; I have never had other meats.
A Single Pebble is one of my all time favorites in Burlington. There are plenty of options for Vegans on the menu, and they will convert other dishes to Vegan for you at your request.
The food is authentic. Love, love, love A Single Pebble, will return time and time again.
The best, as always! There are so many must try dishes, like the mock eel and Buddha "beef" :)
A gracious and peaceful restaurant with delicious food. Reservations are essential, and you should plan on two hours for dinner.
Overall we were a bit disappointed this time. We are normally met by a very friendly staff, however today everyone we encountered from the host to our server seemed more annoyed than anything. We Requested the CHEF'S tasting menu and it really wasn't their best dishes.
We do this tasting to try new things however this time they were all very bland options. Not sure I will be back any time soon.
A friend had recommended this restaurant as one to visit, and we were very happy to get the reservation! We sat outside and took the prix fixe chef's menu for the evening and their suggestion of some lightly filtered sake. All we could say as each plate of tastes came out was "Yum!" Pace yourself though, if you order this one, it's very easy to overeat the first four dishes and not have room for the rest! Lovely flavors, nice presentation, and we loved our waiter. It made for a lovely evening.
I was disappointed by the quality of the food, but I was even more disappointed by what I felt was a server who was more interested in making money than helping to provide a good experience. He started out by describing that their special was the Chef's Special, without telling us how much it would cost (which actually wasn't an issue for me but might be for others) nor telling us that the amount of food coming with the Chef's Special was really too much for 4 people to eat (especially since two of us were women with small appetites). Moreover, when we mentioned that one of us was a pescaterian, he suggested ordering a separate ala cart meal for that person, which would have resulted in even an more ridiculous amount of food being served for 4 people. Shame on him and shame on a restaurant that operates like this.
