Loved the ambiance. The restaurant has a swanky, old-world environment. Great food and great service.
I love the atmosphere.. Early dining is a must if you want to be able to converse.. It does get noisy! The food is outstanding and prepared perfectly..

After living in Newport for 4 years, we finally put a check mark next to A Restaurant on our list. Started with a Cesar Salad complete with authentic anchovies ground in. She had the block cut New York and I had the boneless ribeye. Each was cooked to perfection and we shared sides of cornbread and puree potatoes. Each of those were equally delicious and perfect compliments to our steaks. The staff was very professional yet relaxed and we never had to ask for refills. Cocktails were tasty and delivered promptly too. If I had to pick something to nag about, it would have to be the lighting. For us, if the lighting doesn’t allow you to easily read the menu, then it’s too dark inside. Other than that, this place is top shelf for a great steak dinner.

A Restaurant NEVER disappoints! Kirk, Jared, and Jon consistently knock it out of the park. Jon's "At Chef's Mercy" menu was out of control brilliant and Jared's cocktail and wine pairings were perfection! I can't say enough!

The A restaurant is a replacement to an old local establishment. The food and service were truly mediocre, nothing special... While the booths have a fun, old world ambiance, they are not practical for 4 or 5 people to sit and have a dinner conversation. When we got the bill, there was a 2% surcharge to cover the employees health benefits. My bill was around $500 and this surcharge was just under $10. Just put it into the cost of the food. Honestly, when paying $40 for a steak, I really don't care, nor would I notice if it costs .80 cents more. I really don't want to see a separate surcharge for Employee benefits, electricity used while I was there, laundry service to insure I have clean napkins. etc. All of that should be put into the cost of the food. Which is why it is called a restaurant!!
Food was fantastic. Valet parking was excellent. Server was perfect. Noise level and the resturant interior was terrible.

This was our second visit to A Restaurant. The first time there was an issue with another family dining right next to us. They had a horrible fight and caused such a stir around us that we could not even remember what we ate. This time we came a bit earlier and had a nice meal for the most part. The restaurant does get very loud in the bar area and you can hear every conversation around you but at least there was no other problem this visit. We really enjoyed the starters we tried-a salmon crudo and a butternut, acorn squash burrata dish. Very delicious. The steak my husband had was great. My salmon dinner was not as good as I had hoped. Overall, not bad. Will come again.

This place was a beautiful hidden Jem! We got a last minute reso, ended up running a little late so called ahead. Are host was able to grab a very nice table for us when we arrived. One of the best coursed out meals I've had in a very long time. Would go back just to put together my own cheese board again. Thank you and your staff!!

Brian was our server and he killed it! He was amazing. Food was bomb. And we were celebrating my boyfriends birthday and they came out with ice cream and a candle. It was a perfect ending to the whole experience. I will definitely be back!
We had one waitress for a huge room. We waited to order cocktails...we waited to place our orders... we waited for the cocktails to arrive and waited way too long for mediocre, at best, food to be delivered. It was so loud and noisy we couldn’t even have a decent conversation. Never going back there , ever!

Everything was great at the restaurant. The prob was the next day when I looked at my bill and saw a service charge. I called and was informed by Amy that it was to cover the employees health benefits. I feel that the $510 plus $120 gratuity should have been plenty to help cover the employee benefits. I’m very offended at having to pay a service charge on top of that. I work at a restaurant in seal beach where I am provided benefits and we do not put a service charge on checks for the guests to help pay the benefits. I would suggest to raise beer prices by .50 or wines by the glass or something discreet other than a service charge to guests already spending a decent amount

We had a great time Saturday night… Stacy our server was fantastic along with the busboys! I love the Decour and how they've kept pretty much everything from the old days when it was the arches… The only downside was which was that we had a table at butted up to the bar area which was very loud which is OK because that's what happens in a bar and I ordered off restaurant week menu picking the wrong thing not the quality of the food just that I didn't like it.... definitely will be back and sitting in Stacy's section

Really enjoyed the lighting and fact we could actually carry on conversation without hollaring. The prime steak was delicious. The Brussels sprouts were really good, my husband who doesn’t like them liked them
This is my favorite restaurant in Newport Beach! The food is consistently incredible and delicious, especially the steaks and charcuterie. This is a great restaurant for special occasions, and it is a very fun scene. Can be a little loud, but it's very authentic and the ambiance is great. I always bring out-of-towners here so they can experience the best of Newport Beach! Would highly recommend to anyone - I promise you won't be disappointed.
Had a very nice dinner with my husband at A’s one week ago. It was such an enjoyable time we definitely be back again. We had excellent service and a delicious dinner and the atmosphere was warm, inviting and comfortable.
This was our first visit and expected a more conversational atmosphere rather than the noisy, bustling environment that made couples dining very difficult. The ribeye special was fair but nothing special but can say The Caesar salad was very good. Our waiter, Jared, was very attentive and most efficient.
We had a great dinner for our anniversary. Brian was terrific and made some great suggestions for appetizer (ahi tuna), dinner (filet Med-rare) and dessert (flan). We even received 2-complimentary glasses of rose champagne for our anniversary. Parking was a breeze, ambiance classy and cozy. Couldn't find a fault. Only recommendation I would offer is to add some Napa/Sonoma favorites such as Far Niente, Silver Oak, Caymus, Trefethen, Opus One. We did not recognize any of the wine vintages on the very extensive menu. Although we may not be the most sophisticated drinkers. Loved A-Restaurant. Will come again soon! THUMBS UP!
It was our anniversary but the hostess neglected to tell our waiter, so it was never acknowledged. The hostess appeared aloof, disinterested, looking down at her phone when we walked in......wonder if she was working on homework or reading a novel while she was working with us....?
