Our waiter, Steven, was fantastic. Great Recommendations and Service.
Service was average, busboy was to much in our space.
Santiago made our Valentines amazing!
The service and food were amazing, the only thing bad was an obnoxiously drunk and super loud group. We complained but nothing was really done about them. You could tell everyone in the room was annoyed and fed up.
Made a reservation for Valentine's Day dinner. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Cocktails were excellent. Appetizers were delicious. My steak was just ok; fairly tough piece of meat. My wife's steak was good. When the busboy asked to clear plates, my wife had only eaten about a 1/3 of her steak. I assumed that they would automatically box up the leftovers. When I later inquired of the waiter, he simply said, "Did you ask him to?" No offer to correct the miscommunication. We won't return.
We LOVE A’s!!!! But the table we were sat at was horrid. Tucked away at the side of the bar, playing a basketball game on the TV and all their servers gathered in the corner right by us to key in their orders and then chit chat with each other. Did not make for a very good ambiance ..... and it was for our Valentines celebration. Very disappointed in our table, I wouldn’t seat anyone there , especially for such a nice restaurant, this table left much to be desired.
Reservations were for7:30, we were seated at 7:45 at a table that was vacant when we arrived at 7:15. We felt like we were not important enough to be seated right away. Food was very good, service was very good, noise level over the top. Average experience.
A = Always good
Staff, service, food, ambiance always 👍
Our weekly go to when in town
Warren the bar manager and all the bartenders are the absolute best!!! And Priscilla is the sweetest, most adorable server around! Yummy food and a cozy booth! That's what keeps A our favorite spot.
The food and service was excellent but it is a lively crowd and we had challenges talking to our table mates as the noise level was so high.
One of our favorite restaurants in Newport Beach, our other favorite would be their sister restaurant CDM. Always a great vibe, excellent service and food.
One of the best spots in Newport for dinner. Good food and a great vibe. Always.
Great from start to finish.
Good but a little salty both the chicken and steak. The persimmon salad is to die for.
The appetizers/dessert were great. We went during Restaurant week however didn’t want that. We looked at the menu before we went there and wanted the special. Then we were told that because it was restaurant week we couldn’t get the special. I ordered the salmon, which was over and under cooked in different places. If I was to go there again, I would seat in the bar area and order appetizers. However our server was great. Very friendly and helpful!
“A” never disappoints. So fun, great service and delicious food. We always order a double order of the spicy Yellowtail Eggplant appetizer. I had the Restaurant Week menu- delicious and creative. My Branzino was a tad over salted but the steaks were perfect and we can’t wait for our next dinner there.
Still an old line Newport Beach establishment. drinks are well made and bar is active. Menu is limited and what restaurant doesn’t offer a chicken dish..except in tasting menu. While food seems to be well prepared it’s pork/steak focused. Limited fish offerings (and overpriced at that). We’ve been here numerous times over the years throughout A’s numerous iterations. This was the most disappointing meal in all that time . Stick to drinks at the bar! Service was professional.
Thank you for accommodating our request to dine earlier than booked, especially during restaurant week. We had a wonderful night with good friends and look forward to dining with you again soon.
Food and service were great!
This is my 10th or 11th visit since it went from the Arches to A.
The noise is still just plain crazy.
I requested a seat as far away from the bar as possible, and while it was better than my previous visit, still waaaay too loud for a place trying..... to be a fine dining restaurant.
While I was braced for the noise, I was NOT prepared for my reliably good block cut steak to be not that great.
Temp was ok, but was a different quality of meat, and or maybe over rested.
I’ve had this meal a dozen times.
Definitely not where it used to be.
Service was fine.
The wait for the table has never been good, be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes past your reservation time.
But I will return, as I hope for it to return to former glory, and...there’s not much competition in the area.
Birthday celebration. Always a great dinner experience at A restaurant!
We had driven by A many times & were intrigued with eating there. Restaurant week was the ideal time to try it out!
The ambiance is from time past ( booths in great condition but look like they’re from the 60’s), the wait staff attentive & friendly & the food was sumptuous!
We can’t wait to go back 😊
Kim is great so are Staci & Michelle. We love this place & the market
Unique and quaint restaurant with outstanding food and a fun atmosphere. Not too big of a place, so reservations recommended! And the A5 Waygu beef is definitely worth it!!
Going to A restaurant is like a journey back in time. Great red leather booths, dark lighting, superb food and wonderful service. Love it!
Everything was delicious! Went on a Tuesday and was surprised with half-price wines. Loved it!!!
Great menu and Michelle & Staci's service is always the best! Very professional which makes for a great dining experience.
Came here for NYE early dinner. Service was great. Ordered Scallops and Ribeye dishes and both plates were cleaned off. Ambiance was nice and dark with an old school feel. Will definitely come back.
Best burger in town. Service always impeccable
Dinner with mom and brother and sister in law
We had not been to A Restaurant for many years and we were glad we came back. Brian , our server, was extraordinary and the food was delicious. We won't wait so long to come back.
Always a great place. Food and service is at high level
Requested table in quiet table against a wall because I wear hearing aids. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant with the bar right behind us. Was not able to hear any of my guests. I made this specific request when I booked the reservation thru you on line.
This historic restaurant in Newport Beach has made a major comeback! As good as it ever was in the 80's and 90's! Sunday's are best service industry night in Orange County. It's loud but the place to eat on Sundays!
They never miss, Block Cut NY is the best steak in Newport Beach
The most Amazing Dinner ever.
Our Table Wonderful!
Our Waiter Exceptional👏👏👏!
