A Piece of Havana
We reward our guests by combining the native Siboney staples of corn, peanuts, and yucca with the Spanish accents of rice and olive oil. Alongside relocated Floridian Cubans, Belkis and Juan Plasencia, is a chef who together create garlic and herb-infused delights of the empanadas, moros y cristianos (black beans mixed with white rice), and of course the classic Cuban sandwich. Feel free to take full advantage of the take-out and coffee-to-go bar and drop by for live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Being our Guest is caliente!
It was a wonderful overall experience! We will be going back soon!
A pleasant restaurant with attentive service for very small groups and individuals. Food was not great on this visit but tasty.
Great atmosphere, my go-to place every Friday - live music is the best.
As always the food is great and entertainment is great to but it’s so loud that you can’t talk to your guest and it’s makes it hard to order which is already hard enough with the language differences
We have eaten
At this restaurant many times.
We were there last Thursday for my
Husbands birthday. The worst and slowest service ever.
Took us over an hour just to give and order and get food.
We have never experienced this here before but we were very
Disappointed with this experience.
service was ok full bar little bit of a language barrier food was very good but the coffee was great
OUR BEST TO THE NEW OWNER. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK,
WE SHALL RETURN.
Great music . Good food . Good menu selection. It's a family kind of restaurant and decent bar selection
Great food and staff
Music way too loud. Killed off all conversation. He also sang which he should probably leave to the professionals.
I've been here a few times and my only complaint is the music is always so loud that its hard to hear the waiter and I can't really hold a normal conversation without yelling.
It’s my 4th time in piece of Havana and was so bad. We was in 14 people’s to celebrate my mom bday and they spend more than 1:30h to come with the orders and the restaurant was not full. Also they don’t brought lot of orders like plantains, empanadas, yuca...
So it’s the worst experience here, and I’m sad because we was celebrating my mom bday.
Our biggest issue was that we ordered food to go and only half of the order was put in the bag. That was disappointing.
We had an amazing time and I will recommend this restaurant to all of my family and friends.
Was disappointed that it was an off day for them. No plantains, boiled yucca was undercooked and very hard. They brought us more but it arrived when we were finished eating. The steak was not seasoned. Usually it is a much better experience and we had chosen this as a celebration dinner for our 37th anniversary.
Slow service, music way too loud to have a conversation, food was very dry. Was not impressed.
This restuarant never disappoints! Great food, great atmosphere, friendly service. The music sets the atmosphere so you feel like you're in the heart of Havana!! 10 it t of 10 would recommend!
Love the mojitos!!! Food is always good. Service was excellent. We went early so it was fairly quiet. They have live music on the weekends which is enjoyable but can be very loud.
Great variety. Delicious food. Live music. We had a reservation for my girlfriend’s birthday and we were promptly seated.
I really enjoyed myself was there celebrating my birthday and everyone really had a great time!!
Great place for a relaxing enjoyable night. The food was excellent they have some of the best mojito‘s in Charlotte. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good Cuban food.
We have eaten at A Piece of Havana many times. We always have good service and its a very convenient location with plenty of parking. There was no band playing this time when we were there on Saturday evening. We were somewhat disappointed this time with the preparation of fish dishes. I had the whole fish which was Pompano and it was overcooked and over seasoned. My sister in law had the fried fish and it was also overcooked almost burnt. Also the green beans had too much garlic. I don't know if the restaurant has changed chefs. Our husbands had skirted steak and stuffed chicken which they thought was fine. The steak soup was flavorful with large pieces of meat. The waitress was very friendly. There is a large wine selection with very good prices by the glass and bottle. I hope the chef improves with cooking of the fish next time.
A truly Cuban experience, had Ropa Vieja and Churassco Cubana with rice, tostones and Yuca fries. Coming from a Puerto Rican background this is some of the best food we've had in the states. It'll bring you back to the islands.
We made reservations for a party of 6 for 7:00 pm on a Saturday night. We arrived about 5 minutes early and were seated immediately. Our server was quick to bring water to the table and took our bar order. The drinks were delivered quickly. One member of our party placed an order for an appetizer of empanadas; the server took the order to the kitchen and returned saying it would take over 20 minutes to get the appetizer. We cancelled the order and placed our food orders. We all finished our first drinks from the bar and ordered refills. The drinks were delivered promptly, but we waited more than an hour for our entrees to be served. As we were nearly finished with our meals, a basket of bread arrived. I realize we were there at a peak time and the restaurant was busy with several large groups, however, the wait time seemed incredibly long.
You have to go to Piece of Havana on Friday nights. Great food while a live bands plays then you get Latin dancing lessons and you get the opportunity to practice what you’ve learned.
Little to loud with the live music. Food cld come out hotter as it was not very bust when we came. The bill made absolutely no sense to us at all...the way they listed gratuity, drinks and all made us wonder what was up. Food is really good, some was a little disappointing, like the chicken being tuff and kind of dry. Wld go back though cause places have off nights and in the past it was amazing!
Loved the atmosphere. Food was amazing. Service was punctual and accurate. Happy customer. Enjoyed my birthday
Service terrible and food mediocre. Did not like environment at all
I'm done with this place and it's awful service. Tired of the mistaken takeout orders, slow dine-in service. The food is undeniable, but we have to draw the line at disrespect. I'm frequented this place for years and recommended it many. No more.
Food is great but the service was lacking. Took forever to get refills on water and food took a while to come out. They had a soccer game on and it was loud.
We love coming to eat here and the food is great and the entertainment is great but it’s soo loud the we could not talk to our friends that are sitting directly in front of us
It was our first time and it was awesome. I loved the environment, the music and the fact it was family friendly. The food was delicious and it was served with a smile.
There is so much going on and people standing in front of your table to watch the dancing or waiting to dance. We had to track down our waitress 3 times to get drinks and order food
My wife and I went there to celebrate 9 years of marriage. I heard good things about it, and we decided to try it out. Good atmosphere and the food was good. Will very likely go back.
As always, great food, but this time the service was slower (it seems that most Charlotte restaurants are having challenges hiring sufficient staff), the music was good but too loud (Sat., May 11, 2019), and the restaurant now charges a 3% surcharge for using a credit card (that new policy needs to go!).
Chicken was undercooked and had to send it back. Service is very very slow. Music was excellent but very loud. Wanda Lopez was fantastic!
It was my 48th birthday!
Great atmosphere with live music and great prices ,there is better value on some days.
Great authentic Cuban food at an exceptional value, not perfect, but definitely a must try... Guava BBQ ribs, Cuban sandwiches, ox-tails, stewed beef are all good... Get the mojo on the side and use it for dipping!
Food is great and atmosphere.
