Much too loud - couldn’t hear each other talking across the table, amongst all the big tables and parties going on. Service was mediocre; food even more so. Bronzino filet full of bones making it unpleasant to eat. Not what I’d expect from a FILET. Lamb kabob dry. Grilled calamari app not bad, maybe the best of all we had.
Bread is great as is the baklava. I’d go back only for dessert. Too bad!
First of all, we love going to A La Turka. Whenever we visit New York, we make it a point to go there for a special date. We first discovered A La Turka by accident when we went to Uskandar down the street and they were full. However, this was years ago when A La Turka was quiet and you actually got attention from the wait staff. This time, the place was packed. There were several large parties so we expected our service to be slower but we didn’t expect to be pretty much left to our own devices. It was so packed, we were actually boxed in by the window. My husband could not get out on his side. I had to ask the gentleman at the next table to let me throw. I felt bad that he had to get up and push his chair aside for us to walk past but that was how ridiculously packed it was! Surely there’s some fire code violation to have people boxed in like that. The lack of space also meant we barely saw our waiter. He took our order, he passed us our drinks over the head of the woman at the next table because he couldn’t reach us, someone else brought our food, and he passed us our check (again) over the head of the woman at the next table. Additionally, it was so noisy, my husband and I took to texting each other because we were getting hoarse from shouting our conversation at each other. Lastly, with so many warm bodies, it was stuffy in the restaurant. I’m just glad I was sitting next to a leaky window so I had a bit of draft to cool me off. Not happy at all with our experience this time.
This is an outstanding neighborhood restaurant. Very good food, large portions and good value. Love the eggplant salad. We each had a different dish and each was delicious. Highly recommend. Only negative is loud music.
Great time. Fantastic food, people and entertainment.
Definitely try this. So much fun.
We have had their food many times but the food the other evening was fresh and delicious. The ambiance was very upbeat as it was a night they had Turkish music and a belly dancer. Food and music made it a very festive evening.
Inattentive service, wrong order, poorly prepared zucchini pancakes, undercooked lamb.
Not worth the money, could not wait to leave.
Better options easily found
Will be returning. Good food, good service, prices on the higher side but didn't feel cheated.
Walked in. No prob be greeted us. We sat down at a table. Had to waive over a server. Ordered a drink which never came. Then I reminded them and it came. No water served. We left.
First time at La Turka
Was there for my daughter's birthday.
From the moment we entered the door the service was outstanding!
The service was only trumped by the food. The best authentic cuisine since being in Turkey.
Excellent wine to go with our meal.
If we lived in the city, I would be there weekly.
Wow, what a find!
Can't wait to return!
Been there many years ago...I was pleasantly surprised....Food was fresh and tasty.
My boyfriend and I have lived on the Upper East Side for years and he has eaten at A La Turka several times, but I have never been. He always said how good it was! So we decided to order in for Valentine's Day, but we were so disappointed by the food! I got the mezze platter and he got the turkish dumplings, neither were all that great. There are definitely better Turkish spots in the neighborhood. Save your money and dont bother with this overpriced, underwhelming place.
I went to A La Turka for lunch yesterday which was supposed to be 1000 point reservation. I got an email confirming that I got the thousand points. But the app only applied 100 points what is going on here? Who do I complain to to get this fixed and corrected so I get the appropriate points added on?
We had a lovely meal. Everything was delicious. I would definitely come back again.
Great!! Love the food and the place.
Good food, awful service. Had to tell waiter 3 times not to Take our plate away while we were still eating! Would not go back
There are so many tasty choices here. Whether vegan or otherwise there are numerous tempting items for any diner. The staff is polite and friendly. The staff does not hover over diners but gives privacy for conversation. I always chose the lamb; it is juicy and never overcooked.
It's was amazing... the service and the food. Will definitely be coming back.
great fish and lamb dishes the bread is outstanding.. we will be back soon
Great neighborhood find. The service was great. The portions are large enough to share. The night we were there a 3 piece band was playing and the restaurant was packed. Noise level for conversation was challenging!
Waiters so nice and friendly
Friendly, good food, within short walk of the Met and Met Breuer, reasonable prices.
We are regulars at A La Turka- we love the food, the staff are great, our kids love going.
For was delicious and very fresh. Service was a bit slower than last time but still with the trip.
Totally fabulous!! Excellent food and surprise entertainment. Guys, you MUST try this place. You won’t be disappointed.
The best Adana Kebab, Turkish coffee and Baklava. Highly recommended.
Very much enjoyed this restaurant. Food was very good and portions large. We each had something different and everyone thought the food was great. There was a very noisy table near us who never heard about using your indoor voices, but otherwise service, ambience, value, etc. was very good. I highly recommend.
A la Turka has been at this same spot for 29 years, and is a neighbor stand-bye. Service is fantastic, food pretty good, especially the lamb platter . A bit pricy for what you get, but if your are there when there's belly dancing, it's worth it!!
Love A La Turka!! The lentil soup with a squeeze of lemon is amazing, love the Shepard salad, hummus & they have the BEST grilled octopus anywhere.
Our group of 7 arrived at different times. The first 3 ordered wine and appetizers and as our friends arrived each ordered as they came . Restaurant staff was flexible and accommodating. We also had special food needs among the group, vegetarian and no-carb. Everyone loved the food. Lamb chops are always superb! Dips and spreads are always delicious. The only dish that missed the mark was a Medeterranean salad. The only green was mint. Overall everything was great and staff very friendly and efficient. My local neighborhood constant.
Food was very good! Will definitely go back.
great food at a very reasonable price
very attentive wait staff
overall a great experience
The food was very good. Service was a bit slow but overall good, and the waiters were very nice. They did not have the wine I wanted but gave me something else which I enjoyed. Would recommend for sure.
Went there last minute when we saw Taksim closed, glad we did. We got the eggplant salad and fried calamari both of which were delicious. We shared an lamb mixed grill entree which was delicious as well. Overall the experience was great, the prices were very reasonable and service was good, will definitely be going back.
Great food!
Frankly had been to A La Turka before but had forgotten that fact. My wife and I didn't remember it being exceptional-maybe just fair . We tried it again last night ,being in the neighborhood and seeking Turkish cuisine. Our experience was more noteworthy.I must say that our food was very nicely prepared and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her Lamb Shank main course as I did also with my Lamb adana. The prices are reasonable. The restaurant was not very crowded as we were there early but the service was attentive and the overall food experience was good.We would definitely return next time we at in the area.
Excellent lunch special. Appetizer, salad and lunch entree all delicious and nice size portions.
Great food. Inconsistent service. Nice dinner. Will return. Good value.
We are 'regulars'. We dine frequently and are almost always treated 'very' well. However, service was very slow and inattentive, with surrounding tables being served promptly.
(We were practically ignored!) Since Natalia, the wonderful bartender, along with other staff who know us, are usually extremely welcoming, we don't know what caused the ambivalence the other night.
Generally, we are pleased and satisfied. We live across the street and this is one of our favorite local spots. Hopefully this will continue to occur in the future.
A good place for good Turkish food. We have being going here for years and still like to go.
The heat was not working and we all froze!
They treated us to coffee and dessert for the inconvenience!
The food was excellent but I did not take off my coat or my scarf!
They should have closed the restaurant until it got warm ,
It is all glass as well so that did not help either!
