Very much enjoyed this restaurant. Food was very good and portions large. We each had something different and everyone thought the food was great. There was a very noisy table near us who never heard about using your indoor voices, but otherwise service, ambience, value, etc. was very good. I highly recommend.
Our group of 7 arrived at different times. The first 3 ordered wine and appetizers and as our friends arrived each ordered as they came . Restaurant staff was flexible and accommodating. We also had special food needs among the group, vegetarian and no-carb. Everyone loved the food. Lamb chops are always superb! Dips and spreads are always delicious. The only dish that missed the mark was a Medeterranean salad. The only green was mint. Overall everything was great and staff very friendly and efficient. My local neighborhood constant.
Went there last minute when we saw Taksim closed, glad we did. We got the eggplant salad and fried calamari both of which were delicious. We shared an lamb mixed grill entree which was delicious as well. Overall the experience was great, the prices were very reasonable and service was good, will definitely be going back.
Frankly had been to A La Turka before but had forgotten that fact. My wife and I didn't remember it being exceptional-maybe just fair . We tried it again last night ,being in the neighborhood and seeking Turkish cuisine. Our experience was more noteworthy.I must say that our food was very nicely prepared and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her Lamb Shank main course as I did also with my Lamb adana. The prices are reasonable. The restaurant was not very crowded as we were there early but the service was attentive and the overall food experience was good.We would definitely return next time we at in the area.
We are 'regulars'. We dine frequently and are almost always treated 'very' well. However, service was very slow and inattentive, with surrounding tables being served promptly.
(We were practically ignored!) Since Natalia, the wonderful bartender, along with other staff who know us, are usually extremely welcoming, we don't know what caused the ambivalence the other night.
Generally, we are pleased and satisfied. We live across the street and this is one of our favorite local spots. Hopefully this will continue to occur in the future.
The heat was not working and we all froze!
They treated us to coffee and dessert for the inconvenience!
The food was excellent but I did not take off my coat or my scarf!
They should have closed the restaurant until it got warm ,
It is all glass as well so that did not help either!
I have been to this restaurant many times and on our visit Sat night we had a pretty bad experience. We were 6 people in total and 2 entrees never came out of the kitchen, they finally arrived after the rest of the party was done eating. The waiter was extremely rude about the whole experience and basically yelled at me and told me he took off one of the entrees and I should be happy about that and not complain.
I have eaten here at least 50 times and have ordered in from here at least twice that number. The food is always very good. This last time we dined there, however, there was something new: a new waiter, Boris. He was truly outstanding. Attentive without being obtrusive. Knowledgeable about the daily specials, the wine list, the entire menu. And extraordinarily pleasant as well.
I have been at this restaurant many times over the last 10 years and I like the food and service. However it has been in a decline over the last couple years and this last visit was appalling. We made a reservation on OpenTable and were seated by 7pm but were asked to leave at 9pm given that the table was reserved for someone else. While I understand the business logic behind it there were three glaring issues:
1. We were never told that the table was available for only 2 hrs
2. When we were told this, we were literally signing the check
3. The attitude was very rude. No explanation no apology no alternative solution (ie let's seat you elsewhere).
Then to my shock, when I went to write a review, the restaurant conveniently "deleted" our reservation saying we never arrived. Clearly to avoid a negative review.
While food is great, what makes a restaurant is great service and care for customers. How could one trust the food served by a restaurant with such greed and disrespect. Appalling and sad as it used to be such a great restaurant.
Completely delicious and welcoming. I'm not in that nabe a lot but if I was it would definitely be in our regular rotation. I had the grilled branzino-perfect. Lamb dishes also fab. I would skip the grilled trout though as is too easy to be overdone which it was.
I have been to A La Turks countless times over the years, but have found that the last two experiences very disappointing. During the first experience, two of our friends had to send their meals back because they were served tepid. During our most recent experience, we waited 30 minutes for our entrees only to learn that there was a mixup in the kitchen. When the entrees finally arrived, the salmon steak was an overdone and cut was of poor quality. The second entree was served completely incorrect not to mention the low quality cuts of chicken that were used for the kabob. The servers did ultimatelypresent two glasses of wine and the grilled vegtatables, but way too late into our meal. The service was poor at best. We had to request refills of water and bread because we were basically ignored after our appetizers were served. We will definitely not be back!!
We began with a cold meza. It was delicious and enough for the 4 adults as a starter. The grilled octopus was outstanding. Dessert was very good and served in little portions allowing for sharing. Only complaint was their non-attention to the nut free member of the party. We asked for bread or pita without séame seeds. They never brought anything.
Although the restaurant was not even half full I got a very poor table up against a pole. When my friend arrived and asked for my table with my name, they told her I did not have a resrrvation although I saw my reservation on the list before they seated me. She left and I had to chade her down the street. Once we didn't order drinks wait staff seemed uninterested in our table and we were virtually ignored. There are many really good Turkish restaurants in the neighborhood. So I'm crossing this off my list. Too bad! Used to have great food and great service. What happened to switdfish kabobs and red snapper that they used to serve?
Food was very good. Each of us had something different and all three meals were plentiful and delicious. Prices are reasonable for NY. My only criticism was the very loud balilika music. We were sitting very close to it and it was very annoying. I would definitely go back, but ask for a table on the other side of the restaurant.
