I've supported this restaurant continuously throughout the pandemic; it's in my neighborhood and the food is consistently delicious. Unfortunately tonight I was seated next to an extremely loud large group of 5 which was originally 4, until a woman showed up and squeezed herself in. They are following all safety guidelines but she was literally pressed up against the plexiglass. The staff should not have allowed this.
Aside from this I asked for a dipping sauce for my kebab of hot sauce and yogurt, the same exact duo I get each and every time. Tonight it was a problem and I was offered tzasiki sauce for $10.
At one point in the dinner someone with a hammer or some tool decided to repair the bottom part of the tent. It was annoying, loud and went on for at least 15 minutes.
A check was placed on the table without us asking for it.
Then two of the bus boys hovered over our table waiting for us to leave then actually asked us to hurry because they were closing. Meanwhile the extremely loud party of five was STILL there, not being asked to leave or rushed as well as many other tables. We were treated as if we weren't paying for our meal.
Finally, there was garbage all over 3rd ave right outside of the restaurant. It was just not a good night here and in this economic climate I'm expecting more. Plus my friend drove in from Queens, disappointing to say the least.
The sinning experience was very good.
Excellent service and delicious food ! Great neighborhood restaurant
I eat here all the time and the food is first quality. It is even better than before covid, they have upped their game
Well adapted to the current environment, good food and service.
The dining experience was truly special.
The waitress helping our table was sweet and kind and quite inviting.
We were celebrating two occasions and we had brought a cake with us.
The restaurant and the waitress were so happy for us that they waived the serving fee for our cake. It was a kind gesture and added sweetness to our experience.
The restaurant has Plexiglass partitioning the tables so it feels more private and safe.
They give out masks to all people and overall the little touches, plus the food and the service made it super special and fun!
A la Turka has gone pout of their way to accommodate their diners (and staff) to enjoy their dining ecperience!
I've always enjoyed the food at A La Turka, and my friends from out of town regularly suggest we go there when they visit. Happily, the pandemic has only made the "dining-in" experience better. They've swapped a somewhat dull interior design for a more festive yet intimate and engaging outdoor space. There are generous dividers between the tables, wraparound barriers to protect you against the wind (on a windy night we sat without jackets), a thick rear structure to partition you from the car traffic (while offering a place to put your bag beside the street/floor), and the lighting is intimate yet energizing. You feel safe, and very nearly "normal" eating outdoors at A La Turka.
Always GREAT food, Great outdoor set up for NYC street
I mistyped on noise level. I was outdoors. It was fine. Service poor...no one came to ask if we wanted more wine, dessert or coffee. But we were asked if we were done when we clearly weren’t. There was a line to get in so I understand the eagerness to get rid of us, but we were early diners and shouldn’t be rushed.
Food very good and nicely presented.
I’ve been often for dinner and really enjoyed it, but lunch was another story. The service was pretty much non existent. We waited ages for someone to take our order, ages for our food to come and ages to get our check. That said, the food was tasty, the bread delicious and the lunch menu has many choices.
One big negative -- we showed for a reservation for 8 people and said they called to confirm many, many times and we did not pick up. We had confirmed day before by phone to restaurant and by email prompt from Open Table the day of. We checked phone log with hostess / manager and there was only one missed call, 45 minutes before our scheduled time and no other messages, multi calls, text or email. We didn't appreciate the lie. They managed to accommodate us - but should note that a gentleman before us having the identical problem. Guessing that now a lot of demand for outside tables they really don't want to make and then risk reservations of larger parties. Just a FYI!
This was my 3 rd time at this restaurant . First 2 x the experience was great. Saturday night it was not. Appetizers arrived on time. Main meals took a very long x to arrive, with everyone around us who arrived after us, getting their main courses. Waiter was giving excuse after excuse. I ordered the Brazino, last 2 times delicious. This time no moist, husband and friends ordered stuffed chicken very saucy. I will wait a bit before going back again.
We were enjoying this restaurant a lot; however, our last visit was a disappointment. Service was not good, and they were rude. I wish we didn’t have a bad experience like this. I hope they will change their attitude if they not; they will continue to lose customers.
Excellent food. The outdoor dining is well done with plexiglass partitions between tables. Safe place to eat we felt. And the zturlish wine is great too.
Delicious food with outdoor belly dancing entertainment!
Huge props to the owners. We never liked this place in the past but the new renovation, outdoor dining and menu are a BIG HIT. Have been back twice already. Great Value.
Food was very good. My husband loved the lamp chops! Cooked perfectly! I had the brazino, which was delicious ! Seated when our reservation was. Hostess was lovely. Waiter needed to be a bit more attentive !
Great outdoor setup and always great food. Just wasn’t happy the order didn’t come out correct and second time I was there this week where they had to bring my dish back to the kitchen. Don’t like that under normal conditions but especially during covid.
Fabulous outdoor dining. Tables are spaced nicely with plexiglass in between. Very festive environment with delicious food and excellent service.
This restaurant went above and beyond, in my opinion. Considering we were eating outside, in the street, yet the decor was both attractive (really pretty!) and of course functional (large partitions between each table made us feel very "safe" from the Covid monster), we were very impressed. The seats were big and comfortable, and we never felt rushed, but rather relaxed! The food was excellent. The bread was warm and fresh our of the oven, the humus was delicious, the kabobs and chicken adana were flavorful. The mojitos were mighty delicious too, I must say! There's no way you could be disappointed with this place, and there's every way that you'll love it!
Birthday dinner was great with a surprise sparkling candle on baklava for the table! A fun delicious evening.
Food was very good. The decor was really nice considering we had outdoor dining
Food was delicious. I had the whole brazino, it was amazing. Chopped salad was fresh and plentiful. Waitress was lovely. Hostess was very rude, I was there with my 95 year old Aunt and we had a reservation . The hostess made us stand on the crowded street before we got seated. I was very nervous she would get bumped.
Food has been terrific and the restaurant has done a wonderful job distancing the tables by using plexiglass dividers. Seating are is rented and decorated with flowers. I hope they get heat lamps for the Fall. This has become our favorite restaurant!
We had a wonderful afternoon, the food was delicious, staff was friendly, and can't wait to go back. The service was just a little off in that we had to ask for napkins and flatware and do a bit of waving for our waitress, but she was very nice and helpful overall. I would highly recommend trying this place. The kabob platter was a big hit!
A local restaurant that maintains a high level of food quality and great service
Five of us visited cautiously because of the virus. We got a great table, were separated by a plastic shield, felt safe and well taken care of. Returning.
Love this place. Have been coming here for years, and the quality of the ingredients are simply top notch. Branzino, Shish kebabs of any kind, stuffed chicken, stuffed cabbage, salads, and any and all dips are delicious— you just can’t go wrong. Wines are good pours too, and the ambiance is awesome— big clean tables, nice outdoor canopies (they even hold up in torrential rain- we’ve been there twice!). Service is quick, friendly and always professional. Plus, They kicked Covid in the butt— safe, physically distant tables/separations and outdoor seating abounds. Kudos A La Turka. Thanks for being our favorite neighborhood-go-to-place.
We celebrated a friend’s birthday and it was perfect! The food and service are excellent. We ordered the shepherds salad, liver, spicy cigars, okra, bean salad and a nice bottle of Turkish wine. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend it.
The food was fantastic, light but still filling. Outdoor seating is very COVID safe, quiet, and so pleasant! We will be back again soon.
Fantastic place! I recommend it highly. The food and ambiance is great!
They've done a decent job with outdoor seating and separating.
The food, as always, remains very good. The lamb shank was fork-tender and delicious. Next time I need to try the salt-crusted branzino!
Felt very safe with Covid safety precautions
Great lunch value with good food and fair service.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation it’s not fair to review this restaurant, but I will. I have enjoyed this restaurant for a number of years. The food was always very good. The service was okay. In the current situation, the menu was limited and some of my favorites were not available. Service which was always okay, was even lower this time. They seem to favor a large group over a couple.
They have a very nice outdoor set up. The food is excellent, the prices not outrageous. But service was inconsistent; for example, we were served the hummus appetizer, but couldn't get anyone to bring us bread--until our main courses arrived, with the bread.
Great spot! The seating outdoor is pretty spacious and most (if not all) of the tables have a covering over it in case it rains. The wait staff was very attentive and food came out quickly and was delicious! Highly recommend
