The food and service are outstanding. Highly recommend dining here. Bill, Charlie and staff are awesome!
Thanks for the open table idea of “sharing” the reservation for the two of us....as it turned into a spontaneous party of five!!!!
Food and Service was great on Mother's day. Had reservation. Was seated right away. La Provence is worth the trip. Come there for lunch during the week. Have never been disappointed. Can certainly recommend the restaurant.
Decor was a little blah in the room we were in. Food was good except French toast was so tough we needed a steak knife to cut it.
Everything about this restaurant and food was impeccable. We celebrated a special lunch after wedding dress shopping and we will definitely recommend and be back. The owner bill, was amazingly accommodating.
Without notice at the time of the reservation, they limited the menu that only included items most in our party did not want. We chose the place because of their diverse menu. They refused to accommodate items on their regular menu. They got our order wrong, and left the salads and soups off the order. No apologies. No manager visit. Will never go back. Would never recommend this restaurant.
While food was tasty and well plated, the service was terrible. It was 1.5 hours before our entree was served. Added a petite filet ($9)at time of order for 10 yr old, and told this was holding things up. Brought out full size filet and then charged us for the full size filet dinner $38. Asked for mgr., he said he would handle, so he did refund $38 and said he also took care of dessert, due to our lengthy wait, however, after looking at receipt, dessert was not deducted. It was graduation weekend, however, when we arrived for our reservation, the room was maybe 1/8 full. Tables arriving after ours, were seated, served, and left and we were still waiting for entree'. Fully believe our waiter FORGOT to put in our ticket. Anyway, food was good, however, the entire experience put a damper on our joyous celebration. Arrived at 12:15 p.m. and at 1:45pm received entree.
We were so excited to go here for my daughters graduation. I have one daughter who is vegan and she asked the waitress about options. She didn’t know what vegan was and kept recommending crab cakes for my daughter. She wouldn’t ask the chef if he could make something vegan. All she ended up with was a plain green salad. They didn’t even try to accommodate her. The rest of our food was just average. We won’t be back.
Booked at the last minute and what a great surprise! The food was amazing (appetizers, entree and dessert was all so impressive) and our waitress was such a joy and so much fun! Would recommend to a friend and will be returning soon.
It was FSU graduation so they had a special menu and it was crowded and loud. I was told it was a very different vibe on Valentines Day. Our server seemed a bit inexperienced but tried so hard to please and was very attentive, I can’t find any fault with the service. The food was hit and miss. The salmon was excellent, the etouffe was just average. All in all, would probably try again at a less busy time
Went to A La Provence for a "regular" weekday lunch. The weather turned out to be perfect for sitting outside on their terrace. Don't get too excited; it overlooks the retail development's parking lot. The food it always good. The service is also usually attentive. This is not a "fast food" place. It is more suited to the business lunch or friend get-together than to the "get in at 12 and get out by 1" crowd. However, they will accommodate you if you're on a schedule. They usually have a fresh fish option and the beef bourguignon is good. I'm not a quiche-eater, but they have quiche specials every day. The lobster bisque is excellent. I have a cup every time I go except on those rare occasions when they come up with another soup that sounds likes it is worth trying. They make good effort to have some wines worth your time.
Always my favorite in Tallahassee.
Our server was very courteous and the food quality was top notch.
We chose A la Provence for special celebrations twice this week. We enjoyed sharing one of our favorite restaurants with friends each time. The elegant atmosphere, fine service, and creative cuisine make A la Provence a restaurant we always consider for a special occasion.
Great place to go to sit and talk quietly. Never rushed.
Always top notch for both food and service. One of a handful in Tally.
We were particularly concerned because the waitress told us the steak that was on special had no fat on it, so we ordered it. That simply was not true. It had fat on it! The building where the restaurant was housed was rundown.
I was traveling on business by myself and wanted a great meal so given my first experience (my son’s FSU graduation dinner), I knew this was the place. Great environment, food and service!
Our group of 10 ladies enjoyed lunch outside. Though the waiter had to set up our table last minute because we had an additional person, making a table for 10, he did so quickly and without complaint. The day was lovely, the food delicious and the service excellent.
Beautiful tasting menu dinner . Excellent service from Tanner and Clay. The chef gave great pairing suggestions. Wonderful & creative French cuisine , I highly recommend A La Provence.
A memorable dining experience was had by all
Wonderful! Our server was delightful and the food delicious. A perfect evening.
Food and service were impeccable. Will definitely be back.
Old world charm and sophistication. Good food prepared well. Good service.
Charlie is the best! We always want to sit in the bar so he can serve us!
Another fantastic experience. My favorite in Tallahassee
The food and service were excellent, but it could really use a decor update. The location in a mostly-vacant shopping center was off-putting but I’d definitely go back for the great food.
As usual, A Le Provence served excellent meals with superb drinks. Service is always friendly and it is one of the few places where we can carry a quiet conversation. Highly recommended.
Wonderful food , best in town !!!
I hesitatingly schedules my wife's birthday dinner for La Provence since our last visit to the restaurant had been a major disappointment. This visit was the exact opposite. The brie fritas was outstanding (though a little more fruit would be in order). The sea bass was well prepared and tasted quite fresh. and the domenico (sp?) steak was sizable and beautifully prepared. My wife selected a good wine to go with the meal. The service was competent without being smothering. Our only criticism was that the sides for our entree were not appropriate to the main ingredient on each plate. More thought could go into that aspect. A cupcake acknowledgement of my wife's birthday was also a missing touch.
Great place for business meeting. Very inexpensive for lunch
We love this restaurant! Celebrating my daughter getting engaged, we knew the perfect place to go! The service is impeccable! The food is absolutely scrumptious! The atmosphere is classy yet welcoming. We all chose the Filet Mignon and it was divine! We will be back!!!
I treated a friend to a birthday lunch. I called ahead to let them know it was her birthday and said I wanted it to be special. Lunch was nice. My guest was wished a happy birthday by our waiter, as he handed us the menu. That was it.
When we asked about desserts, we were informed that there would be no special complimentary birthday dessert (not that we asked ).That was pretty embarrassing. We ordered a cranberry crème brûlée. It was cold, as if it had just been removed from the freezer. It had a strange taste, not a good one. We sent it back.
Lunch was very good. We had the crab cake appetizer and a plate of fried green tomatoes. For our entrée we had the Florida salad with a petite fillet mignon on the side. It was delicious! We were charged extra for a basket of bread and butter. I was not expecting that.
The ambience was quiet and tasteful. As for a special birthday lunch, there was nothing special about it. You would think they could at least have a place card/memo board wishing the honoree a happy birthday. That would cost nothing. A complementary birthday dessert would go a long way in making the recipient want to come back to that restaurant in the future.
It will be a long while before either of us return to A La Provence.
It would also be nice if the manager or chef would come out to meet his patrons and ask how lunch was. Give it that personal touch.
La Provence has been around for awhile. There was a time where it seemed to be a forgotten restaurant. The food was ok, but not exciting. Service was always polite but never very engaging. Then something happened. The restaurant upped its game. The kitchen began putting out interesting new menu choices, the preparations are spot on and the service has improved. While other restaurants in town may still be trendy, La Provence has quietly elevated itself into a go to choice.
The occasion was "Everyday Dining," but it was Valentine's day, so things were a little busy. The food is always pretty good at A La Provence (try the lobster bisque). The service is generally prompt and attentive. Since we are "regulars" there, some of the staff know our drink order in advance as well as some of my wife's peccadilloes about how she likes her dishes prepared. They are always very accommodating. The place is generally quiet enough to have a business or personal conversation and they have a nice meeting room that seats twenty-five or thirty should it be needed. The chocolate mousse always tops off the day.........
Great service and food. We will be back again. I recommend if you haven’t try it you need to see what you are missing.
A La Provence never disappoints. Love dining there lunch and dinner.
Fantastic dinner. Always a favorite. Best steak in Tallahassee
This is a quality restaurant with excellent food. I would recommend it to anyone.
