Food and service is wonderful. Favorite restaurant on the Mainline.
I've eaten here many times. It has become our place to celebrate Valentine's Day and my birthday.
A group of six had dinner and everyone enjoyed their meal. We had many things on the menu the Boeuf Bourguignon, St. Laurant Salmon, Ratatouille , and Truite Almandine that were delicious. The portion sizes were generous. We had great service . Overall a lovely dinner.
Great French bistro food. Nice portions, great selection, fabulous specials. Monday night was quiet which was wonderful. Desserts were delicious. We will be back.
Second time back sine they lost their chef. New one is not good. On first visit a couple of months ago the food was under seasoned and bland. This time, all 4 of us needed to add salt and pepper and the food was still bland. Two of us had the duck, a staple here for years, and the meat was so stringy it was almost inedible. They both asked for more sauce just to try and get through it but even that was lacking in flavor and seasoning. My appetizer onion tart was served cool and was greasy. Overall I real disappointment after over a decade of good meals. Won't go back till they get a new chef and use better quality ingredients.
Great varied menu. Quality food. Wonderful pate's! 4th time there - each time delicious!
Wonderful evening of good, friendship and entertainment (The Tonics performed). Everything was delicious and the service was impeccable.
My husband & I have dined at this restaurant many times. Our meals have ranged from very good to very bad. Since we’ve had enough positive experiences here, we always returned. Our dinner here on Saturday night was our last. Our server, Bernice, was rude & intolerant of my husband’s dietary restrictions. I’ve had other servers there that were exceptional. Unfortunately, Bernice was not one of them. She should not be working in a service industry where customer service can make or break your dining experience. My husband’s food came out cold. When he asked our server to please heat the food, she grabbed the food without saying a word & stormed away with the plate. My duck breast would have been ok if it had not been filled with fat, which should have been trimmed from the edges but was not. I could not chew it without having to spit out fatty portions from most bites. Since it was prepared very rare(I requested medium), I requested they cook it more, hoping that would make it more palatable. It helped a little but not enough to enjoy the meal or how much I had to chew it. A fine dining establishment should be consistent with their service & food quality. Unfortunately, this restaurant is not. Therefore, I will not return here. Spring Mill Cafe is a French byob with exceptional food & service and is consistent. We will be dining there when we crave French food.
As ever, I couldn't get by the homemade pates with accompaniments. Wonderful food and atmosphere. My favorite place to dine.
Perfect from A to Z
We go to A La Maison frequently and brought several friends who live in the area but who never ventured into the restaurant. Needless to say they loved it as much as we do. It has a great authentic French atmosphere and wonderfully prepared food. Lots of specials as well. It is a BYOB which is even more amazing. Highly recommended.
This is a local gem! if you like authentic French food! Bring your favorite wine / drink and your appetite and you won't be disappointed! We have eaten here for many years and it's always good.
We tried A la Maison for the first time to celebrate a friend's anniversary. While the menu was very interesting, the follow through was not a the level we expected. Dishes were expensive and the flavor was not as good as expected. The escargot was under seasoned and the Coquilles St. Jacques was watery with not enough brandy.
The restaurant was featuring live entertainment, which was fun and added nicely to the atmosphere. However, $10 per person was added to cover this. We didn't mind some charge, but $40 seemed excessive.
The chairs were not comfortable, especially for the men and we felt crowded. The restaurant was not completely full, so it would have if they had made more space. Some couples danced - perhaps clearing space in front of the stage would encourage more dancing.
Although, we had heard positive recommendations about A la Maison, I think the food was not quite up to snuff for the prices on the menu.
Tasty food with attractive presentation. Prices are a bit high for specials - but regular menu pricing is fun. I would go back.
Second time coming for lunch - wonderful Jen of a restaurant! Look forward to coming at night and enjoying the entertainment! Love that it’s BYO, also!
As always, excellent food and service. Steak frites is a must!
My husband and took our parents here to celebrate our 1st Anniversary - huge hit! We love this restaurant, fantastic good with amazing specials...A la Masion is something special!
Food was not good. Bouillabaisse does not taste like Bouillabaisse. Same for the rillettes
We were celebrating a birthday Thursday night. We enjoyed every bite of our meals. We had two dishes from the reguar menu: escargot and duck breast, and two from the specials: shrimp provencial and veal with trumpet mushrooms potato cake and a wine reduction sauce. Yum!
The restaurant is quaint and not too loud at all. The service was wonderful, everyone was very attentive. And, the food was delicious! We will definitely be back again.
Terrible evening. Loud live music which we were NOT prewarned about. Could not have a conversation at our table of 4 without yelling. Waited an hour for our food. Yes they comped the entrees but unpleasant evening all around.
Our dinner and service were exceptional. The staff was familiar with many patrons, and warmly greeted all of us warmly. Our dinners were memorable, my wife had an endive salad with roasted beets, apple, goat cheese and creamy orange vinaigrette dressing. I started with a tasty escargot followed by a wonderful Bouillabaisse that had a great variety of seafood. My wife had a lump crab dish similar to crab imperial. All the dishes were delicious and we can't wait to return for another dinner.
Delicious classic French with modern touches. BYOB. Expensive but good for special occasions. Excellent service.
It was good
Lighting and decor could be improved yet the food was excellent.
Great French food and a byob makes this a great dinner spot in Ardmore. The food was excellent, the staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was great for dinner with friends.
Our first visit for dinner to A la Maison Bistro was delightful. The ambiance reminded us of Paris and the service was exceptional. All courses were very good. When one member of our group was dissatisfied with something, the wait staff very graciously brought a replacement, which was wonderful. We plan to visit Maison again and will also try it for lunch.
I love the food and service.
We have been going to A La Maison for many years. I have always enjoyed the food but my husband started to get bored with it. The introduction off several options on the special menu is very welcomed. It is always nice to have the real taste of France.
Excellent as always!! We loved the 2 additional special seasonal menus.
A La Madison has stood the test of time and is a great bistroon the Main Line!
If you are looking for a Fabulous meal with the special details on all courses, you need not look further. This is a ** 6 star restaurant with fabulous food, a terrific wait staff and some of the best chefs on the MainLine.
Had a lovely lunch of creative, authentic crepes stuffed with crab, sauteed spinach, mushrooms and roasted cherry tomatoes. Charming, accommodating waiter and kitchen for my lactose intolerance issue.
Quiet and great for conversation at lunch in a spot decorated to make you feel like you are in Provence.
Specials were excellent, but pricey. Crab au gratin and Dover sole were our choices. $44 for crab and $38 for sole. BYOB helps hold down overall prices though, but if you want conversation with friends go when no entertainment when a hefty $10/head is charged. We were there on a Saturday night with no entertainment. Would definitely go back as food, preparation and service were all excellent.
Really enjoyed the entertainment.....along with great authentic French style foods. I was in a party of 5 and we were all very pleased with our choices.
As usual, good food and a nice atmosphere. Love the music, BUT... since everyone comes around the same time, service (ordering) and food delivery were very slow. Nice that you can bring your own wine, but dinner without coffee and desert was still quite pricey.
Overall nice experience (I love Alberto, the busboy (man?) and we will return.
Great little BYOB restaurant in Ardmore, PA with excellent French cuisine and live music...
One person in our party had Celiac disease and must be strictly gluten free. The server was clueless and couldn’t make many suggestions on which menu dishes could be made Gluten Free
The prices are high but once you see the presentation and taste the freshness of the ingredients, you will feel it is definitely worth every penny!
