About A la bonne franquette
A La Bonne Franquette, in Seattle, crafts new American cuisine with French influence in its warm and welcoming restaurant. The pork and rabbit terrine with pistachios, herbs, pickles and baguette and the cheese plate make delectable appetizer options. Some of A La Bonne Franquette's specialty entrée dishes include the pan roasted almond trout in a brown butter and shallot sauce, the roasted half chicken with root vegetables and pan jus, the saffron steamed manila clams in cream sauce and the chickpea tagine with carrots, squash and cauliflower over a bed of couscous, all of which are prepared to perfection.
Save room for dessert, as A La Bonne Franquette's chocolate orange bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and the decadent chocolate pot de crème are both superb and sinful. If the weather allows, be sure to take a seat on the lovely, flower-drenched outdoor patio.

A la bonne franquette Ratings and Reviews
This was a farewell meal at our neighborhood French restaurant. It is closing this weekend, but I understand that a new French restaurant will rise from the ashes of the one now closing. Lovely food, attentive friendly service, a nice neighborhood atmosphere all contribute to a pleasant experience. Prices are fair. The departing owners sent an email broadcast to their customers to say that they are handing off to someone they know and trust, so there is reason to hope that an equally good restaurant will remain at this location.
This was my first visit to A la bonne Franquette. My experience from start to finish was just right. Competent friendly service, nice ambiance, wonderful views of downtown Seattle, and excellent food. I had the trout. It was prepared perfectly. My friend had the scallops. Equally excellent. The bar service is also quite good. If you seek a small quiet spot to unwind in a nice setting with excellent food and service, this gem will suit you perfectly. I will be back, hopefully on a regular basis.
I ate here with my folks. The service was great and the appetizers came out really fast. The scallop special was incredible. Our only issue was that Dads chicken was under done. It was still bloody.
Although they took it back to re-fry it, he was sitting there for ages while me and mum ate. We ended up giving him most of our food and by the time his chicken emerged he was over it. I'm pretty sure most of it was still under cooked, he just ate around the sides leaving majority behind.
Sadly they didn't comp the meal, only offered a dessert on the house. I'd go back, just avoid the chicken.
All four of us ordered either the halibut special or the trout. Both were prepared perfectly and served unobtrusively. The rabbit appetizer also was noteworthy. The selection of wines was terrific and the desserts, especially the bread pudding, was the perfect culmination of a memorable dining experience. This is a great neighborhood restaurant that succeeds in serving gourmet food with no pretense. Definitely worth the trip!
As usual, A la Bonne Franquette is truly the neighborhood gem. Trout was amazing and the beet salad is to die for. Highly, highly recommend dining here with friends or a nice dinner for Mom and Dad away from the kids. Call and ask for a window seat - the sunset is AMAZING! Food is always good however the rotation of the menu was not as appealing as the last time we dined here, perhaps I just miss the amazing potatoes au gratin done Julia Childs style. Wait staff has always been lovely, however I think the unexpected Seattle heat depleted our poor lad a bit. This is a must do for every Seattlite as this hidden gem is a contender amongst the beasts of Seattle.
Paid another visit to A La Bonne Franquette last week and was not disappointed. Had an out of town guest with me and she was thrilled with the view, the food, the service and the ambiance. We enjoyed the risotto special, the roasted chicken and the cauliflower with lemon. She had a moscow mule and I enjoyed a couple of glasses of Powers Cabernet Sauvignon. A perfect evening in every way.
One of the most beautiful views of Seattle can be found in the main dining room. I took my new fiancé for a "date night" for her birthday and everything was set up for out arrival. Wait staff is attentive and polite. The food is incredible, I highly recommend the cheese plate as it is quite a generous spread. Better for date night/special occasions than for groups. Very romantic.

This is a place we loved. Cute area, nice view and the food is pretty good. However, probably not very children friendly. The restaurant had complaints from others that my toddler was being too loud and disturbing other customers. So maybe not the best place for kids. I am sad that we won't be returning but take this as a mild warning if you plan to go with small kids. Otherwise, this restaurant has great food and a good view.
We took some friends that were from out of the town to enjoy Hamed's great cuisine and we were not disappointed! Service is outstanding, the food very flavorful and fresh paired with tasty Bordeaux. Of course the view is amazing as well as the surrounding neighborhood.
This was our second time dining here, and as with the first time, everything was excellent. We joined some friends for a Bastille Day celebration and thoroughly enjoyed the planned menu and wine pairings. The service was accommodating and attentive but not intrusive. Highly recommended!
Stunning authentic French food. Nice French sized portions, simple dishes but delicious. You get what is described on the menu - no hidden surprises like other restaurants. Atmosphere could be a a bit buzzier. Maybe with some French café music but I really can't fault anything about this place. I can't wait to go back.
We'd been before and liked it enough to return. Although it was still really good, we weren't quite so enthralled this time. I think it was the service.... The woman who served us wasn't real attentive and we had to ask for a few things. We ordered champagne and it came out not very cold. She said she would be back with an ice bucket but eventually we had to remind her for it. Meanwhile, I watched her serve someone champagne at the bar in an iced glass - which would have been nice for us, given the not cold champagne. We also felt the menu was pretty limited and nothing different from when we were there 4 months prior. Will probably return, but it may be a little while.
We found A la bonne franquette on Open Table. The other reviews were glowing and it sounded much like several of our favorite restaurants where we live. Food is great, service is great. The sunset over Seattle was an added treat. Everyone there has a passion for what they do and that translates into a great dinner.
Always a pick for a special occasion, A la bonne franquette never fails us for the perfect setting, cuisine and attention. Some might consider the menu slightly limited, but for the number of tables and the clientele, there is ample variety and everyone item is worth praise. We'll be back again, and likely again.
I was looking for a restaurant with a view to celebrate my daughter's 35th and her graduation from U of W. earning her PhD. I found this lovely, quaint, and very delicious location. Would definitely recommend , and will very likely be back in spite of you not being in West Seattle! Great staff and wonderful chef! Thank you!
Hamed cooked up another memorable meal for us and Shannon picked out a smooth Bordeaux for us to accompany the delicious food. Definitely a neighborhood gem with a local feel but you'll eat gourmet food while enjoying the best view of Seattle and the Puget Sound. I had the Chickpea tagine which was very savory and filling. For dessert I had the bread pudding - I love the combination of orange and chocolate and this choice did not disappoint, satisfying that craving of mine. Took some friends here with us that had not been here before. They are still talking about the great meal they had here. Thanks for a memorable evening!
Recommended by several friends, this cozy restaurant gets the French bistro experience right. The flavors and presentation were very reminiscent of dining in Paris. The food was spectacular! I had the trout and it was flavorful, moist, and perfectly cooked. My wife have had a flat iron steak with mashed potatoes - had it come with fries, it would have been a perfect expression of the classic Steak Frites. The steak was perfectly cooked with a red wine reduction and sauteed mushrooms - so much flavor! For desert, the special of the day was a lemon tart with berries - this is the best lemon tart I've had in the US with the perfect mix of sweet and acid and a perfectly cooked crust.
We dined at about 7:30 with a reservation and were seated by the window. With a perfectly sunny day, the view of Puget Sound, downtown Seattle, and the Olympic mountains was gorgeous! It was a perfect place to watch the sun set and very romantic.
Finally, the service was phenomenal! Fast, efficient, friendly, and they made our special date night an experience to remember - thank you ABF! We can't wait to come back!
