A Fish Called Avalon Ratings and Reviews
Loved the way that the tables (outside) were arranged. Nice feeling of privacy while still a good use of space. Waiter was pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. I was disappointed in the variety of Scotch on hand but the Malbec was very good. Food was excellent ... oysters, escargot, salmon, risotto. Will be back.
This was the best dining experience I've ever had! We came to celebrate my 50th birthday. The food was amazing! There are no words to describe our wait staff! The best service we've ever received! My waiters were Andrew and Michael and they were both fantastic and the manager came to the table 3 times to make sure we were enjoying our dining experience. This will always be one of my stops when I come to Miami!!
Everything about this place is outstanding but in particular the service. The food is fabulous and the physical space very pretty. When we were there the outside was covered in scaffolding which takes away from the outside dining space but when the work is done it will be back to being the best in the area. Very classy restaurant- somewhat rare here. No people trying to drag you in. The best part was as we left, and were outside, our waiter ran out to find us to tell us we had overtipped! We didn’t realize the tip was already included. The honesty was incredible! We love this restaurant and will return.
Great dining experience. For appetizers had tumeric shrimp and Cavetelli pasta. Shrimp had a little too much tumeric-fingers were yellowish until the next morning. Girlfriend and I split an entree, came split from the kitchen. No additional work needed.
Even though exterior of restaurant was under construction, had an excellent meal.
A Fish Called Avalon is simply great! The food is awesome and we highly recommend it. The paella is amazing and is made with orzo in a delicious broth with fennel permeating through the rest of the amazing flavors. We shared everything! We also had the ahi appetizer and it was just awesome. They have a very good wine list as well. The service was very attentive. The only thing I would say it that it can get pretty loud. We would have eaten outside but the weather didn't cooperate that day. When we get back to South Beach, we will be back there.
What a wonderful meal. We used Open Table to book our reservation (probably not necessary on a Monday night but wasn't sure). Our service was fantastic.. and the food was amazing. If you want to share a meal: get the paella. It was fantastic. More than enough seafood for two people. The grouper and snapper were fantastic too. If you sit outside, you have a great meal and can enjoy a little people watching. Are bill averaged $50 per person (tip) included and we didn't have any drinks.. the only thing I would make sure you look at your bill because even with a party of 4, we had an 18% gratuity added.
Food was incredible. Scallops appetizer and crab crusted grouper was outstanding. Two of the best dishes we have ever had. Salads were a little disappointing compared to everything else. Service was spot on. Outside seating with live music makes for a great atmosphere.
Everything served here was fantastic. We had chocolate martinis at the bar, lobster bisque soup, and seared scallops before our entree’s. I had the saffron seafood risotto and my wife had the jumbo shrimp scampi provencal, and finished with a chocolate lava cake.
The service was fantastic, the only negative was the construction work on the hotel above the restaurant ( they were not actively working, so it just impeded the view).
A really cool place in an old art deco hotel lookin gout onto Ocean Drive and the ocean beyond. The fish special, a crab-encrusted grouper, was excellent, as was the snapper. On a Sunday night, the street in front was blocked off for a market and the whole neighborhood had a vibrant energy. It was really fun with great food and service.
Loved it! I had the whole fish and hubbie had macadamia crusted snapper. Delicious food. Wonderful service. Keep up the great work! Restaurant was a vendor and sponsor for Art Deco weekend so got to try paella - also great! Hotel exterior being renovated currently, so scaffolding over outside seating area.
