A Cena never disappoints. We brought some friends who had never been and they really enjoyed it. The fresh house made pasta is always delicious. Great Italian wine list, fresh ingredients. The semi-freddo dessert was amazing.

The service was great and the food terrific. We had the lobster ravioli and it was delicious. We highly recommend the restaurant for any occasion. Our server Laurel was knowledgeable and patient, and she made the evening even better.

This is a close-quarters restaurant on a busy night, but never too noisy. The menu is not extensive, but the wine list is. What the menu lacks in length it makes up for in quality. The service, even though we were there on a very busy night, was prompt and knowledgeable. While it is fairly expensive, it is a good value for the money. Also, whose wishing to be frugal can order the pizza, which equals anything else on the menu.

a Cena is a unique restaurant and one of our favorites that we like to go to on special occasions. The food is always amazing, the service engaging and attentive, and the atmosphere cozy. The menu always has a few delicious surprises and the pastas are outstanding. And the desserts...the best canollis on the planet!

It was Valentine's Day so it was pretty busy. The staff were friendly and attentive. The managers came by to check how we were. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. The food was great--fresh pasta and locally sourced ingredients. I am vegetarian and has probably the best eggplant parmigiana that I've ever had! It is moderately priced so with a very tasty salad, two glasses of wine each and a cannoli to share for dessert along with our main meal it was over 100.00 but it was a special occasion so that was OK. Everybody's food around me looked really good as well! The table to the right had the lobster, corn, marscapone pasta dish and it looked delicious! We will return on our next celebration date.

Although the tables are pretty close together, you still feel like you have your privacy. I had the rigatoni which was really good, i would order it again. They have a nice wine selection and some nice signature cocktails. We will go back.

They were well-prepared for my allium allergy restriction. The restaurant is both romantic and quaint, sophisticated, yet relaxed with a Victorian interior. Lots of nooks to dine alone or with someone special. Please leave the little ones at home and just enjoy the lovely music. My server, Lauris Had recommendations at the ready. Even with the appetizer portion, there was enough to take home for my lunch tomorrow. A lovely bread program featuring house-made super thin breadsticks and a light focaccia paired with a fruity olive oil. I took a signature pizza for the office crew. I will return. A very good pick

Delicious pasta, veggies... everything I had! The lobster agnolotti is divine, very creamy with the corn flavor and chunks of lobster. For $45 (large portion) though, I could have used more lobster :)

Everything was really good and the service was great too. Pricey meal, but YUM!! It's nice that you can make reservations online too.

We are never disappointed when we go to A Cena. Our last visit was no exception. The food was excellent and so was the service and the drinks. Can't wait to go back.

Food was very good but for when the lobster bisque came, it was only slightly warm, as was the lobster ravioli. Not sure if it was because it was so busy but we were disappointed for the first time.

We LOVED our time at a Cena Ristorante! We made reservations (would highly recommend!) and were seated within ten minutes of arriving. Our waitress was fantastic--super knowledgeable, fun, and attentive. Our cocktails were so tasty--everyone got something different and we were all so impressed. We got the Fritto Misto for an appetizer and bread--SO good! Literally ALL of our main dishes were to-die-for. We all passed around parts to share. Oh and the desserts!! WOW. Truly, such a wonderful restaurant with a great atmosphere and AMAZING food! Will definitely be back.

Delicious, seasonal small plates, a bottle of Aglianico from a diverse list of Italian wines, a complimentary dessert to celebrate a birthday and a forty year friendship—it was a perfect lunch! Service was exactly what it should be.

This place is fantastic! We discovered A Cena on our first trip to Portland after reading about it in a VIA magazine. We loved it so much, we make it a point to include a dinner there whenever we are in town. Everything we have ordered has been delicious and the Agnolotti is a must try! Oh, the Tiramisu is the best I have ever had!

As always a Cena is a standout. Easy to reserve, the staff is very friendy, sometimes to include the owner. The food is authentically Italian. some dishes I've not found outside Italy.
You can make a meal of the antipasti list or enjoy pasta or secondi, and then there is dessert if
you have any room left.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone! It's a cute small space space with a limited but exquisite menu. Only 1/4 times that I've been I had bad service. They're usually great. And 4/4 times I've loved everything I've ordered.

Overall good, but not great. Was loud and with inappropriate tinny background music… We were seated in a corner and somewhat landlocked with other diners’ chairs blocking access for the poor waiter.

Our simple dinner for two sans wine approached $120... so not the best value in my book.

Love it here in Sellwood. Food is always good. The ambiance is lovely and dim and welcoming. The Romano salad of grilled Romaine with chunky crispy pancetta with Gorgonzola is a something I think about all the time.

We frequently dine at a Cena and are never disappointed. Our favorite, the lobster ravioli (agnolotti) have become quite pricey of late ($45, which is a bit much). A recent dinner for 6 was over $400 including tip, although that included a cocktail and wine as well as dessert. That pretty much puts it in special occasion category for us.

We went to a Cena not knowing what to expect. It had a lot of stars and we wanted Italian. So we went.
Wow, talk about a good pick! It was fabulous. Food and service were both excellent. All four people in our group commented on how outstanding the food was.
Turns out we were the newbies. We talked to some friends after and they told us a Cena is their favorite Italian restaurant in all of Portland. Well, now it’s mine too!

Although we don't go to A Cena often, we were disappointed on this visit. The frito misto was heavily breaded, and about a third of the contents of the serving bowl was only fried breading. We pointed this out to our server, who then "comped" our dessert (but did not remove the charge for the frito misto). The pizza was somewhat doughy, and nowhere near the quality of other places in the city, Nostrana for instance. The pasta with lamb ragu, however was very good. The service seemed somewhat rushed, and on two instances other servers passing by our table called out in loud voices to their colleagues; for example, that they were no longer serving such-and-such dish. Overall, I'd call it a good restaurant, but not one that I'd be in a hurry to go back to given how many choices there are in Portland.
