A Cena Ristorante

First time visiting A Cena. Wonderful food, and great atmosphere. Very busy for a Sunday night, so the service was a bit slow. But not enough so that it would dissuade us from returning in a heartbeat!!
The food and service were top notch. The on street parking was a challenge but doable if you
do not mind walking a bit. Over all a gem in Sellwood.
Warm and wonderful. Staff at all levels were engaging and helpful without being intrusive. Felt like a regular on first visit. Food delectable. Lovely presentation. A crush of people but what would you expect?
Great place for a date! Went here after valentines day for and loved it. Food was fantastic and so was the service.
I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was a little cramped- but I understand that. The “prawns” were more like cocktail shrimp honestly but they still tasted delicious so if you can count that as a complaint that’s my only one. We both got the lobster agnolotti and it might have been the best plate of food I’ve ever eaten, and she agreed. Absolutely planning to return.
As usual the folks at A Cena never disappoint! Even on a crazy night like Valentines! Mark had a million tables and handled everything very smoothly. Thank you!
Fantastic meal send evening as usual. Salmon was outstanding, tender and flavorful. I highly recommend!
Made a reservation on Valentine's Day because it was considered "romantic." Unfortunately we were seated in their "additional" space which required us to go back outside and down the street next door. Ambiance wasn't as nice as main restaurant; felt like we got relegated to the "kids table." (There were multiple tables of kids in this area.)
Sadly they messed up my order twice! And never came with my Brussels sprouts at all. Food was ok, not what I was expecting based on the high reviews. I will be looking for a different Italian restaurant the next time I travel to Portland. This certainly wasn’t worth the near 60-min drive all the was into Sellwood (from Vancouver).
The Staff were great , the food was exceptional and reminded us of our trip to Italy.
This is our new favorite Italian spot.
The food was overpriced for the quality. The Eggplant Parmesan was thin and the sauce tasted more like canned tomato sauce. The Tiramisu was on layer of Lady Fingers with a ton of Mascarpone. I cook better than this! You won't see my face again!
A great choice for an early Valentine's Day dinner. Excellent grilled romaine salad, lamb shank with polenta and a generous serving of bolognese, with perfectly cooked pasta. Very attentive service.
While we’ve had excellent dinners here, lunch was not up to par. Service was slow despite there being few lunch-goers. Food was generally good, not outstanding. The bread was superb.
Overall, the food was superb. Highly recommend the octopus appetizer but our lobster on the ravioli seemed a bit chewy and overdone. Service was a perfect balance of attentiveness and aloofness. We went on the Sunday before Valentine's so it was slow and quite quiet but we've been there when it was a madhouse. This is where my husband and I first met and it never fails to deliver.
Everything was wonderful! Food, our wonderful waitress and the atmosphere!
Absolutely delicious! Every last morsel. If I lived closer I'd certainly come more often!
Always a very nice evening with excellent food!!! Going to A Cena is always an amazing experience.
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the Portland area. The best food, romantic and unpretentious, and great service and value.
Great food and very nice waiter. Tables a little crowded but makes it feel a bit more like Italy. Be sure to check your bill closely, as we were charged for a glass of wine that we didn't order. However, we would go back in a heartbeat.
Great ravioli and homemade penne pasta. My wife loved the tiramsiu.
Outstanding service and the food is fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back
They have the best dish I've ever tasted. I. Love. This. Restaurant.
What a great find!! I will be back again.....And again, and again.......
Such a nice lunch with friends. Waiter was spot-on with letting us know about specials, he accommodated a special request, he was efficient, and everything came out exactly as ordered. The food was delicious and portions were just the right size for lunch. We enjoyed desert too! Thank you, A Cena!
I haven’t had Petrale Sole since moving from SF years ago. It was not only good but harked back to good times. My wife had scallops always a test for the kitchen. Very nicely prepared and no grit! Good job.
The grilled octopus was unreal and I’m still dreaming about the sweet corn and lobster pasta.
Always a great meal!
Great evening with great service - lobster corn ravioli was incredible. Will return for sure.
Delicious inspired Italian food. Great lobster agnolotti. Great capeese. Great Tuscan wine.
First time back in 9 years and it remains a "go to" when in Portland!
Love the lobster ravioli
Great experience for dating, wife and I had a great server named Josh who always checked in on us. Would recommend to my friends.
Had another great dinner experience with A Cena.
Such a nice restaurant. great food, great service great atmosphere. Just a great restaurant.
Always a great meal. Chris always makes the rounds and makes you feel at home. Great wine selection. I always have Jonathan pick the bottle to go with dinner. Never disappointed.

Food was just what we were looking for--great Italian food. I think a server was sick/missing. The service seemed a little hectic and slow. Loved our experience.
Four friends got together. All got wine and served fast. I ordered the octopus to snack on and share with others. It arrived like warm and way under charred. Rest of the plate is cold also. So not sure if it’s a hot or cold plate.. Topped with a ton of capers.. Very disappointed. No one but me wanted it.
Shortly after we received out main dishes. We all had the homemade pastas. Great flavors and no complaints there from anyone. Great food, if not just little over priced.
For dessert we received their recommendation - canole. Well it was as bland and flavorless as it gets. Plus the Shell was extremely hard that we really had to stab the thing for shell to break. Also, maybe they forgot to add any sugar there.. not good.
One of my friends got a dessert wine, I tried it and asked for a glass as well. We finished our dessert and I never received the glass of wine... they forgot about us until the check came so I couldn’t ask about it..
I also ordered salmon to go for my wife that could not join us. Got home and opened up the salmon to see the over oily piece of meat with ton of capers in the box with like 2-3 pieces of veg in there. Both were extremely disappointed in both looks and quality as well as the expensive price..
Sadly, will not be going there again.
The food and staff were wonderful. Enjoyed our evening.

A Cena is always a joy. The service is top notch and the wine recommendation was superb. We had two bottles it was so good. Always get the agnolotti and try one other dish.
