8th and Union has such a variety of tasty food. We had seven and all enjoyed their meal. Great for GF diets also. We encourage people to give it a try.
Food is fantastic spicy and fun. Staff is always pleasant and helpful
Food was good. Service not so much. We made a reservation. Was seated right away. But waited about 10 min for our server to take our drink order. Then a other 10 to get the drinks. Took forever to have pur dinner order taken and get a second round of drinks. Server seemed frazzled and had tables scattered all over the place. So gave the benefit of the doubt. He apologized for the wait and assured us he was all caught up. Then proceeded to take another lengthy time to get our desert order. When we gave him the cash for the bill, we needed change and stated that. He came back and asked us to clarify that we did need change. We were extremely insulted. There was WELLL over 20% in change. We planned to leave 20% (because even with not great service I never leave less than 20%) and take our change. But just thought it was extremely rude for him to ask. Especially after the poor service we had received. I would give it another chance because the food was good and the ambiance was great. But another poor service experience will definitely keep us from trying a 3rd time.
Overall this restaurant was very disappointing. We had to send food back as it was not complete and not as descriped. Also the beer was actually not good and it was a local beer we were familiar with. To the credit of the restaurant, they did replace the beer with another and did correct the cooks error on the food.
Our experience at this restaurant has been increasingly terrible. During this visit they ran out of coffee mugs (and offered a glass for the coffee instead), the food was subpar, and we felt rushed by waitstaff to quickly finish up and relinquish our table to the next guest.
Passing through amd tried it based on Yelp review and web content. They try, and maybe are good for Wilmington, but not on par with this type of establishment in other cities.
Food was awesome!! Great prices too!
we were there on NYE. For that reason, everything was a bit jumbled. However, the service was great. Our meal was fish and chips, pad thai, and a few other items. All of these were very good.
Great spot for lunch or dinner. Nice beer list and very affordable.
I booked a table for 2 for Christmas Eve. We arrived early, had a drink at the bar, felt a relaxing vibe, enjoyed our drinks, decided to eat at the bar.
excellent gastropub. great beers, appetizers and sandwiches/entrees. We eat there regularly.
Nice to have an area restaurant where gluten free options are actually tasty and non-gluten free options are available and also good. Everyone can have a good meal at a reasonable price.
I always enjoy the food here and the service has been very friendly. I was seated quickly having made a reservation.
First time dinner. Food was very good, interesting menu and a good beer and cocktail list. We will be back
We tried this restaurant after a show in Wilmington on a Sunday. It was a little early for dinner (~5:00) but we were surprised how few people were in the restaurant. They have a large bar with several TVs (showing football games while we were there) and the TVs were really cranked up so it was pretty noisy even though there were no customers at the bar. We sat in the dining room and there were two other couples. So, the place wasn't busy at all but the service, time to get food from the kitchen, and drinks from the bar were all surprisingly slow. The waitress was very friendly, however. The real positives were the food. We had the appetizer sampler and the chicken satays were some of the most moist and tasty I've had. Fried calamari was also excellent and the dumplings were very good (good have used a little more filling). My wife opted for the buttermilk fried chicken which she loved and I had the Kennett burger, which was very good and cooked perfectly (med rare). Though we don't get to this area too frequently anymore, we'd go back to 8th and Union again.
But Thursday night it's a night club not a restaurant so just be prepared. Server was overwhelmed trying to fight through the crowd to service dinner tables.
Our server was quite brusque
Food was good
But go on a quiet night
Overall experience was fine. Not too over the top but good for the small group that we had. Food was cooked well and the drinks were awesome. Definitely would come back and recommend to friends for small occasions and events.
Absolutely loved the staff and restaurant! The food is healthy and original. The environment was cozy and warm. The waiter was very informative of the history of the place and the the specials. Very attentive to myself and my wife needs as well
Our server, Robert was new, but fun and attentive, just great! He made our meal there better.
The mussels in white wine was fantastic as were the Pork Baos, the best since NYC Chinatown.
The dishes with shrimp were boring because the shrimp were not grilled or seasoned.
I would skip shrimp or make sure to have them grilled. There booth was comfortable for our party of 5.
Our dinner was expensive for the quality. My husband ordered the filet and it was not seared on the outside as described. The quality of the meat was over seasoned and tenderized.
I had the Pad Thai. I searched for the bean sprouts and found ONE. So mostly it was overdone chicken with a pound of noodles. This to lacked taste.
The waiter was very nice, but didn't offer a dessert or to replace my meal
So I left hungry and didn't enjoy my meal.
The atmosphere was well done. I wish they had better food.
The decor was warm. The food was creative and very fresh. We have already recommended to friends.
The ambience and service were good. Drinks, appetizer and desserts were excellent. However, the entrees had some odd flavors. My wife's scallops were fine, but the risotto was heavily flavored with anise. I had crab cakes and plantain chips. The chips were good, but the crab cakes were flavored with something that tasted like lavender. This may be a matter of personal choice.
Loved the urban scene. Great value . The menu is creative and the food is delicious . Highly recommend !
Good for 1/2 price burger. Interior rather rustic.
Picked this place for a business dinner with a group that included a few vegetarians from another country. I liked that that the veg options were clearly called out on the menu and there were plenty of options for them to pick from. The waiter even came back later to double check if one of the people wanted cheese so that was a nice attention to detail. The décor is really nice and everyone was happy with their meals. They have popcorn to munch on while waiting for your dinner. It was more crowded than I expected for a Monday night but I think we would have been fine if we hadn't had a reservation. Monday was half price burger night and I tried a cauliflower burger. I'm not sure I would order it again but I wasn't disappointed that I tried it. It came with an option of fries, fried rice and a 3rd thing that I forget. I picked fried rice and it was good. I definitely recommend. They had a parking lot but I found a space right in front of the door. Check it out!
Great for Gluten Free. Friendly and knowledgeable waiters. Very active management.
This was our second visit to enjoy Sunday brunch with the music of Bruce Anthony. His mellow sounds are the perfect backdrop to a pleasurable dining experience. The volume is perfect to allow for conversation. The service was top notch with an attentive waiter handling our requests with ease. The food was excellent.
Our first visit to 8th and Union was just great. Easy parking next to building. Warm greeting by staff and quickly seated. Yummy Brussels sprout starter, then healthy, fresh, tasty meal. Relaxed ambiance, not-too-expensive for Wednesday night. We'll be back!
I have been here a couple times now and the food and service has been excellent! The mushroom pho is phenomenal.
Awesome place for gluten free and vegan entrees. Food was really good
The food was excellent and the music was an unexpected pleasure. And gluten free!
Need to put PINOT GRIGIO on the wine list. I would come every week if so...:)
THe vegan pad thai is great. THe roasted cauliflower and brussels are great. They have good spicy vegan pho. Great mixed drinks half off before 7pm
A group of six of us went for Sunday brunch. The prices were very reasonable , the food portions were large and the food was quite tasty.
We went to Sunday Brunch to hear Bruce Anthony sing and had an outstanding time, terrific service and beautifully presented and delicious meals. Also a wonderful fun $4.00 Bloody Mary Bar. It was like a meal and music massage...we all came away refreshed! Bruce and his playing partner were wonderful. Can't wait to go back.
We all really enjoyed our food. My husband and I shared a salad and it was ample for two. Then we each had the rockfish special, which came with grilled baby bok choy and fennel over quinoa with fried capers. A very unusual and delicious combination.
They put out a pie tin of popcorn instead of bread while you're waiting for your food. On the one hand, it's less fattening than bread. But it's sort of inelegant and odd.
We have been to this restaurant three times. Great cocktails and good food. Hard to beat especially during thier 4-7 happy hour specials
We went out with friends. Had a very good meal. Would go back again.
Food was great, music was a fun touch, and the bloody mary bar was excellent!
We had a delightful meal with excellent service. I had the Tuna Tacos which were delicious.
