8th & Union Kitchen
The beverage program offers traditional, house, and Tiki cocktails that are crafted by hand. There are 14 draft beers focused on crafts with a moderately priced small distribution wine selection.
More than being just a restaurant, we want to offer our establishment as a neighborhood hub to the Wilmington community. A place that people will feel comfortable coming in wearing a t-shirt and jeans or business attire after a long day in the office.
Great food and love that you cater to celiac (gluten free) as both my daughter and I have d=celiac disease. Only thing that would be better is to have more deserts for people with celiac. Ice cream was great though!
Great selection of beers. Very extensive and eclectic menu offerings. We enjoyed everything that we ordered: buffalo cauliflower; Denver steak was cooked to order; salmon; fish & chips all quite tasty. The server did a nice job, very professional and well informed. However, it took forever for the entrees to come out, and when they did, some sides were missing. Condiments were in short supply and again, it took a lot of time to receive malt vinegar and ketchup. So very good food, long waits.
Fabulous place which us very GF friendly!! Food was delicious and pace was good. Stefano was very informative and attentive! Wish it were closer!
A group of friends and I went for brunch on a Sunday. The atmosphere was casual and fun, and the bloody Mary bar was excellent and affordable! I personally wouldn't recommend the brie and crab omelet, but everyone else enjoyed their breakfast foods.
Eclectic decor like bar stools made of reclaimed wood, and a couple of communal tables (in addition to traditional seating options) in a cozy setting. Every thing on the menu is labeled based on whether it can be made gluten free, vegetarian, and/or vegan. The menu is as eclectic as the decor (from pho to fish and chips to tacos). The staff was friendly and attentive, yet laid back. Great place for a date night!
I'm guessing they were understaffed on Saturday. I waited at the door for several minutes before anyone acknowledged me. It took awhile to get a table even though I had a reservation. Once seated the server was attentive, but things did go slow. Overall pleasant experience. Good food. Nice staff but maybe not enough of them?
Awesome brunch and great for those who are celiac or gluten intolerant. Definitely a safe place.
Fantastic spot if you’re gluten free. Servers are very knowledgeable about Celiac’s disease.
Sadly I was not impressed by the food. It was a cool place but not worth the money for wise. However they did have some good beers on tap.
Good food, but bad service. We waited an hour and a half just for our food to arrive. And coffee’s came in after an 45 mins
We for lunch and wasn’t to busy. Service was great and the food was good. Monday is half price burgers so that was a nice surprise. They have a good tap and cocktail list
Great gluten free food!
Parked in the lot. Seated right away. Great waiter-Chris-very attentive. Both had the scallops-great dish always.
Our server was great very friendly food was good, we did the valentines special. The empanadas were superb, steak and scallops were of high quality, and the creme brûlée was excellent. We tried the tequila flight, I feel they could change some of the tequilas In that one was very harsh. Overall it was a great choice for our valentines!
Our second time there because we loved the food so much the first time. Great place to go with the family including our 10 month old granddaughter!!
I was at 8th & Union Kitchen for my birthday with my sons. Our meal was very good and our server, Stephano, was wonderful. He even comp'd me a drink for my birthday. Thank you for a lovely dining experience.
Dependably good. Parking sometimes an issue. Live music good. Earthy feel.
Four of us went to the Grill for dinner. I ordered the appetized sampler plate. I would not get it again. The chicked wings were a little overcooked but otherwise OK. The calamari was unrecognizable. At first I thought it was macaroni. The calamari has no breading and was soggy, not the crisp calamari I expected. The buffalo couleflower and Tofu squares has some type of red substance on them, but they were otherwise tasteless. The icecream sampler was much better.
Found out 8th &Union Kitchen carried Gluten free as both my daughter and I have celiac disease. We were thrilled. However, after ordering all Gluten free after we already ate most of our appetizers (‘my daughter ate 3 prices of the pizza) )the waiter ran over to say he forgot to put in Gluten free to the chef. Both my daughter and I have been sick. Gluten shock to our system. This is unacceptable. The manager was very nice and comped the meal and gave a gift certificate. However, that waiter and wait staff should be educated on the importance of a food allergy. This will affect both my daughter and I for months. My daughters immune system is in shock and she is very sick. Unacceptable.
Haven't been here since it was the old Union City Grill. Loved it b/c I like to joke that my husband eats like a 5 year old- so they had wings, pretzels, nachos, burgers and filet for him. I, being the grown up eater, was pleased with brussel sprouts in balsamic glaze, prosciutto and burrata flat bread, beet salad and the like. So a very diverse menu, but not so huge that it was overwhelming. Decor changed as well, much more hip and trendy. Server was very pleasant, they were helpful when I called to change my reso. Only issue was I added grilled chicken to beet salad and it was spicy- I mean really spicy - server said blackening spices prob got on it from the grill - not a perfect pairing w the salad, but other than that, all was great and I will def go back again. Great find!
Great brunch menub quick service, good food. Will definitely be back
Great food, amazing service. I’ll be back!
Mixed results on our dinner of 12/29 - 2 of our group liked their entrees while the other 2 gave their entrees poor marks 9 fish & chips and the brisket tacos). Service was good as was the but it is unlikely we will be back.
We had brunch at 8th and Union Kitchen in October and really enjoyed it. I booked dinner to celebrate my husband's 50th and was really disappointed. The food was sub par and the service poor. The restaurant was basically empty so it's not clear why our server forgot to bring a drink. When I booked I noted the occasion and not one person mentioned it. We won't be back.
We found this restaurant while searching for gluten free options. We had a party of 6. We had fabulous service from Kristie, the food was amazing, and everything was affordable. Cocktails were creative and delicious. We were surprised at how few other diners were there, but it was two days before Christmas so maybe that is why? We definitely recommend it!
Wonderful as usual. Great food and service.
The food was delicious! The wait staff was extremely helpful without being overzealous. I would recommend this restaurant for Sunday brunch, afternoon snacks, and dinner.
Salmon special was excellent. Creme brulee was different than most, but quite nice. Service was terrific.
There were plenty of tables and we were sat next to a large party with kids.
Great food and service. For those on a gluten free diet because if celiac or intolerance, this place rocks!
Had great experience for lunch and dinner previously.
For brunch the food was good but the service was very slow.
Not the norm but it was disappointing.
We really enjoyed our first visit to 8th and Union Kitchen. Great atmosphere and food. The live jazz was an awesome touch! We will be back and plan to bring our family!
I have been to 8th and Union multiple times and the food and service is always great! This time I went with family and enjoyed delicious appetizers, wine and dinner. Our waitress (wish I had remembered her name!) was outstanding and took excellent care of us!
Creative menu. Every nice enjoyed the experience.
Love this place! Everyone loved the food, and it's a dream for the gluten-free members of my family -- really delicious options and the chef understands allergies well. Great atmosphere too; relaxed, yet nice ambiance.
It took ages to get our meals. And the place wasn’t full by any means.
We love having so many GF choices but I wish they would improve their dips and sauces that accompany things like the calamari and fries etc.
they skimp on the sides of fries leaving kids wanting more but frankly I’m good with that.
It’s a good place to eat just needs a little bit more to bring it up in my view.
Our server, Chris, was awesome and super friendly and informative for our first time being here! Looking forward to brunch soon. So many GF options that is was fantastic
Went for the gluten free brunch options and was not disappointed! Great food and drink selection, the "make your own" Bloody Mary bar was a nice touch. Food was great and the dining area was very nice and quiet as well. Definitely going again.
My wife and I were in Wilmington for a wedding this past weekend and on our way out of town back to Philly, we decided to have brunch. What a find! I had the mushroom benedict and she had the swiss and mushroom omelet. We cleaned our plates. Any my bloody mary was the best! VERY reasonable prices here. Oh! And the Sunday brunch live music was fantastic! We'll be back.
