We sat at the bar and it was quiet for a Friday night which is what I was looking for; a chill atmosphere. The tacos and guacamole on the menu were fantastic; recommend the pork or lobster tacos. The bartender Kelly was amazing; very friendly and knew her craft. Didn't catch the name of the other bartender but he was very personable, knowledgeable and friendly as well. Price was a little high but quality was still there. I would recommend 88 Wharf to everyone no matter what the occasion. Nicely done.

We have dined her multiple times when it was the 88 Wharf. This was our first time now that it is Azul. We liked it better before it went Mexican, because there were more affordable choices. Honesty, we tend to come back, because of the outdoor dining and because it's rarely busy. That isn't a good sign though!! Most restaurants we go to, whether a local pub, Italian, casual or better dining, are always busy on a Thurs night....at least the bar area!! It felt awkward to see the staff have nothing to do and then the hostess was just sent home. We like our vodka martinis and had one at the bar and one with dinner. The waitress was just ok. I don't want to seem critical, but she was way too soft spoken and not very knowledgeable. It was like she never waitressed before. I asked her what other high end vodkas do they have besides Grey Goose and said, "Oh I don't know...I don't drink vodka". I'm sorry, but for the prices you pay....most meals in their mid twenties...your wait staff should have some general knowledge about beer, wine and spirits. OR they should at least have the common sense to say....let me go ask...OR the restaurant manager should supply a list at each table or with each waiter/waitress!! I don't like to complain but I hope they improve things and make it. By the way...the bar tender was very nice, but we asked him the same question about vodkas and his answer was different. He said we don't sell a lot of vodka, so we don't have many.

The Mexican food approach is a reach here in Milton, where ethnic diversity is far too limited. The menu is limited compared to other competitors. This place seems to be a seafood establishments remaking itself as a Mexican restaurant, which it is. Major identity crisis.

In a nice spot but the outside dining area is unusable after dark when the bugs come out, the margaritas were terrible, the chips and salsa were bland, the guacamole was fresh but needed more flavor, entrees just okay, the server seemed very inexperienced and could not answer questions. Left feeling like we wasted $120 and a night out :(

I would go back to the bar for a drink or to meet friends for a drink. The food was ok, not great. My husband got sick following his meal.

The food was rather bland and quite pricey in most cases. This is a great location but has gone through several iterations before its current Mexican attempt. Had high hopes but there was nothing inspired in our food. Service good though.

Review for Azul88, pop up Mexican restaurant in 88 wharf space: Food was horrible and ridiculously over priced. Looks nothing like what they advertise on facebook. Mentioned something to waitress and her response was "I'm not sure why they put those photos up there, we don't have a lot of those things on our menu."
Quality of ingredients is what you would buy at the grocery store- boxed Mexican rice and queso dip. Actually, Tostitos queso dip has more flavor than the grilled chorizo app they served us which was 2 teaspoons of ground something floating in melted queso dip. (Unlike photo which shows more of a nacho type dish.)
The waitress removed it from our bill but we still ended up paying $70.00 for two entrees, both of which were awful, and one bottle of corona.
Will not return, do not recommend.

This restaurant recently revamped their menu to a creative, Mexican inspired one. The food was excellent and the service was great. The setting, down on the Milton waterfront, is also very nice. My only negative is that the wine list was very limited. Just a few basic choices, basically one per varietal.

We wantd to try Azul@88. The food was quite good and the made-to-order guacamole a special treat. However, the service was beyond bad and we won't be going back. We were totally ignored when we arrived (we had reservations) and it took forever to be seated. The server did not have a clue about the proper way to take an order or serve. The drinks took forever to come and she never asked if we'd like a second round. One member of the party had to hunt down another server to get a beer. Another asked that the entree be served with the sauce on the side, but it arrived doused with the sauce. It was a good thing we were in no hurry because it was a long wait for everything. There also was a large party going on in the bar, making it very difficult for others to enter or exit the restaurant, but there was no effort on the part of the staff to resolve the problem.
We talked to the manager at the end of the meal, but our words fell on deaf ears.

We live in the neighborhood and 88 is a go to spot for us week nights but on Saturday we decided to check out Azul, the pop-up on the wharf.
My California born wife has maintained for several years that an upscale Mexican restaurant would be perfect for the location.
We still have the same great wait staff but some new, very tasty and nicely presented dinner options.
Keep it up!

I love the food at Wharf 88 and this time the chef tried a Mexican flavor. It was a success, very delicious. We've been here before and loved it but, this time with the new flavor it was outstanding. Now I call it the "former wait staff curse", you notice things and they irk you. The service was the worst. We sat down and order drinks, and the waiter, Jed, came back with chips and salsa, we gave him our order and he went away. The appetizers were about to arrive before they brought the drinks. I told them to take the appetizers away, we didn't get out drinks. I also told the old gentleman bring the appetizers we want fresh ones, not reheated (we got the reheated ones, the bottom was hot, but the sides were cool, microwaved.) We wanted another drink, our waiter, Jed, never came back, so I went to the bar to order them. The bartender was a sweetie; he brought them over to our table for us. We got our dinner but, mine came with plantains, when I asked our waiter, Jed, he told me he only had two hands. I got up and asked for the Manager, who turned out to be the old man, who brought our appetizers, and he told me he was short staffed. He told me that Jed was waiting on 12 tables (there were only 12 tables with patrons and there was another server), I didn't need to dismissed by a surly manager. It's Valentine's Day, I didn't come to this restaurant to feel sorry for them and dismiss the bad service. It's too bad, this is a great spot, with delicious food, but bad service, in an area with so many good restaurants, can kill this kind of place. I'm giving this one star because of the old surly manager.

I was really disappointed about the menu change. Mexican is not my favorite but it was too late to get a reservation any where else . I do appreciate that they called feb 13 to confirm and tell us about the menu change. I would have been extremely disappointed if I found out when I arrived at venue.

we made our reservation before the menu changed. Turns out the menu changed the day before our reservation. The tuna appetizer was light on tuna. The caesar salad was very good but very strong. Two of us had carne asada steak. Neither of us had a good cut and we spent some time cutting away the fat - but were overall just ok. The wives had shrimp and chicken flautas. They were both reported as good. The drinks were good. Waiter was nice and responsive. Location was clean and presented well. I'm hoping we just had bad timing regarding a new menu. Chips & Salsa and fresh guacaomole were all very good.

An unremarkable but acceptable and average dining experience. From the name and description, we were expecting something more interesting. The place was quite empty for a Saturday night - not a good sign. Our waiter was mediocre at best. One of the Pinot Noirs by the glass was sold out (odd for a restaurant that was so empty!). The beer list was quite limited and ordinary in this age of craft beers. Two of us had burgers since it seemed the safe bet. They were very good....then again, if you can't make a decent burger.....our friends had the risotto which was good but certainly not memorable. A commendation on preparing our other friend's fish order exactly to their dietary restrictions.

The food was delicious, but there were a few kitchen/service flaws - from missing ingredients in an entree special to lukewarm coffee and water for tea (which was set on the table before the tea selection was brought, so the water had time to cool even more).

Top notch food and wonderful service made for an unforgettable dining experience on a chilly fall evening. I was especially impressed that everyone in our party was delighted with the cuisine because we tried so many dishes. The appetizers were huge and irresistible. I can't wait to return.

88 Wharf is a restaurant we frequent regularly. The wait staff is very knowledgeable and pleasant. We like that we are close to home that way we never miss a Saturday night in inclement weather. The new fall menu has something on it for everyone. The food is always well prepared and hot when it is served. The view of the Neponset River reflects the change of seasons beautifully. A local gem 88 Wharf is well worth checking out.

Sometimes when you go to a higher end/fancy restaurant you see a burger and wonder why. Well, I def needed the meat, so I got it. It was he best part of the meal. Yup a burger! The sauce they put on it was devine. Calamari was chewy. Wings were fine, flavorful but nothing spectacular. Fish tacos were good and salmon was good.

Oh side seating was peaceful. Beautiful patio and tables were spaced out so it seemed quite. Loved it!

On another note, service was subpar. I have had better service at applebees. Yes I said it. I have worked in the service and industry a long time, I was horrified at the service. Its just one person so you cannot hold that against the restaurant but very disappointing.
