88 Wharf Ratings and Reviews
I was so dissapointed with this place, after reading some other reviews I though this would be a great place. Wwe went on a Friday night and it was dead but that didn't stop them from seating us in a tight area in between the only two other tables with people at them! Everyone else was outside and a few people at the bar. The food was average at best, I wouldn't go back.
This is becoming one of my regular dining spots because of the great food, terrific service, knowledgable staff, and lovely ambiance. It is also easy to get there by car or T. This restaurant has a wonderful, sophisticated happy hour concept; love those French martinis and truffle potato chips! The appetizers and entrees are unique without being weird. I highly recommend the bruschetta with fig and brie appetizer, when it is offered.
Three of the six people in our party ordered a crab dinner (recommended by the waitress) It was edible but tasteless and disappointing. The fig and proscuitto pizza wasn't good either. Beet salad-very good, steak-very good. For the price and number of times I've been there, I feel as though I've given it sufficient opportunies to impress the people I'v taken there as well as myself. Don't know if I'd come back to eat. Drinks on the patio yes...dinner is questionable.
The food was so-so, as was the service. For instance, we ordered a smoked bluefish bruschetta, which I expressed some doubt about to the waitress, and finally gave in, saying I would just pick off the bluefish. Well, the waitress didn't tell me that the bluefish and cheese were mixed together, making it impossible to separate. And so I didn't get to enjoy an appetizer. The restaurant was also extremely loud, making conversation difficult. I think with a little refinement of the menu, the food could be incredible.
The food was very good; we were there on a Monday night for the prix fixe 3 course menu. We also appreciated the Monday night "Bring Your Own Wine" policy, which made the evening very affordable. We sat outside on the deck – luckily it was a breezy beautiful evening – and enjoyed the view. It's also a lot quieter outside.
I've been to 88Wharf 4 times and I'll probably go back; I really want to like this place; it's very pretty, and the staff id great, but the food is hit-or-miss. On my most recent visit I ordered the rib eye with truffled potatoes and white asparagus. The steak was good, but the asparagus came out of a jar and then had been grilled so it was limp, flavorless and charred. The potatoes were lumpy, on the cool side, and didn't taste like truffles at all. On a previous visit, I had the lamb; that time, the sides were good, but the lamb itself was overdone. When I sent it back, the kitchen sent me another piece of overcooked lamb. The staff was very nice about it, but I'd rather have the food be better than the service, not vice-versa.
I've been here a few times. The food is always flavorful and plentiful. The service can be either very attentive or a little off. This the service was great. They have an outdoor patio which is quiet, looks out onto the wharf and the river and it surrounded by beautiful trees. You can have a drink and appetizer if you want or a great meal. I've only been druing the week. Inside the resataurant can get a little noisy.
We ate outside and it was really great. Even though the day had been in the nineties it was quite pleasant out on the patio with a refreshing sea breeze and boats coming and going. We had a half dozen oysters and a Caesar salad - very good appetizers. Then my wife had lobster raviolis and I had a delicious chicken dish which really exceeded my expectations. It had a hint of lemon, was very moist and came with Tabouleh and brussels sprouts.
We've been here several times and was disappointed only once. Since my last experience had too much salt, I told our wonderful waitress, Emily, and she made sure salt was not an issue. Monk fish was outstanding, done just perfectly and the ravioli was a hit, too. Great outdoor dining spot!!
We arrived a party of four and moved to the outside seating beacause of noice. The noice was so bad that we could not hear each other across the table ( we were four men in our 40's not senior citizens). My meal, the ravioli was good..except the sauce was watery and spinach limp. The others at my table enjoyed their meal and the attentive waiter.
Recently enjoyed a wonderful meal on the patio at the Wharf.Perfect spot on a nice summer night to enjoy grilled pizza, calamari and mussels. Highly recommend avoiding Boston traffic and taking advantage of the food and atmoshpere at this relatively new neighborhood restaurant.
This cute, clean restaurant has a nice outside patio. The food however is awful. Not sure if anyone tastes the food prior to being presented to the guests. We all found each of our dishes to be overwhelmed with SALT. Did not matter what was ordered as the food, with the exception of the pizza which was tasteless, was so salty some of us were unable to eat what we ordered. From the appetizers to the main menu selections.
Menu is quite limited and the specials are not much to speak of. For father's day dinner, there was only one special-a fish dish.
This is an elderly clientele restaurant. We were very dissapointed in the food. Even those guests that had been there prior (and had enjoyed eating there) were unhappy. The french fries were tas
I originally came for dinner and had a great experience - great food, great service, great ambiance and valet parking. As I was leaving I noticed a sign that said they were open for brunch. When considering a restaurant for Father's Day, I immediately thought of 88 Wharf with its scenic location (beautiful patio overlooking the river) and great food. We were not disappointed. Their brunch menu - like their dinner menu - was very diverse and the food was great. Nobody left anything on their plate! Equally impressive was our pistol of a waitress, Alana. She was honest, energetic, entertaining, knowledgeable and attentive. Everything you could want in a server. I would return to this restaurant again and again and highly recommend it!
I booked a brunch for 20 to 25 people and must say was very disappointed with 88 Wharf. I received a call and was asked to verify the count - I called back and left a message saying I was definite for 20 but it could very well be up to 25 people. In addition, my sister also spoke to someone to say we would likely have more than 20 and he told her, "not a problem", the space for you can accommodate up to 26. However, when we got there, the "manager" was not very gracious and almost argumentive, saying, my manager told me you confirmed for 20 - we don't have any more tables, etc. We waited well over an hour for the food, which was only fair, and only one family was seated at the adjoining table next to us during that time.
4 of us ate outdoors on Saturday night and we had a great experience. Our waitress was great and the food was wonderful. 3 of us ordered the lamb and one ordered the pork and they were both delicious. The outdoor patio is very nice with a view of the river. We will definitely go back.
This is a beautiful restaurant with very good food. The salmon was grilled perfectly, the roast chicken very good. Lobster risotto good, but a bit too salty. Thai shrimp was too spicy for the person who ordered it. Service was outstanding; waiter made multiple inquiries to satisfy our parties diverse dietary needs. Riverfront cocktail was a delicious light drink with fresh mint.
The spot is quite lovely. We had a very nice server. Unfortunately both my dishes, shrimp appetizer and ravioli entree, were so salty they were inedible. I sent a dish back to the kitchen for the first time in my life. Our waitress was very gracious about the situation and took the meal off the bill.
There was a mix-up in the kitchen with my husband's salad order, they "were out of" pizza for the night, and a drink that was ordered on the rocks came straight up in a martini glass. Perhaps the most irksome thing that happened was that our meals came while we our salad plates were still in front of us, and when I pointed this out to the meal runner, he glared at me until I was forced to clear the dishes myself. So unprofessional.
My sisters & I enjoyed a wonderful dining experience last Friday. There were 3 different taste buds and 3 different appetites. We all left fulfilled & satisfied. This is my 8th time to the Wharf since it has opened and I have enjoyed different foods & different seasons with all the same enjoyable results. I always seem to run into someone from the neighborhood or status/post children's upbringing.
Excellent food and service. The noise level was a little louder than I like, but I could still hear my dining companions. The outside patio looked nice, but the weather wasn't cooperating that night. I think it would have been quieter outside. I would definitely go again.
Having been there in the evening, I had expected as nice of an experience for brunch. There were only two other groups seated. Also, they do not offer any bread or rolls for your table (one table I noticed asked, so they got some bread), and when your order is going to take half an hour to get to you, then they should provide you with some food to nibble on. Our waitress only came by to deliver the food and pick up the plates, while our coffee and soda went dry and stayed empty until when she picked up our plates. Very disappointed, and with other brunch options in the area, I do not plan on going back.
Good food, great service, nice ambiance. We enjoyed ourselves and will be coming back soon and often. It was our first visit. Staff went out of their way to be helpful. Outdoor seating was a welcome addition. All four of us enjoyed our dinner with no hesitation. An excellent experience.
I have been to 88 wharf several times but this was by far the best. We had the cod special, outstanding! The waiter, Bobby, was wonderful, allowing us to take our time ordering, making great suggestions and allowing us to just enjoy the evening never rushing us.
Small outdoor area that looks enticing. This was second time and it didn't seem as good as initial visit. Lobster risotto was very good & fairly large portion; steak au poivre very good selection for one individual, cooked to request 7 notably consistent with last experience. Other individual noted hamburger was a bit salty in taste, but otherwise good.
Bread pudding was generous helping and a bit dry; ice cream and chocolate made it much tastier. Cheesecake was a much smaller portion, but very good.
Capuccino machine was not working, and the server was apologetic and seemed concerned that he had to return to the table to let us know we had to select something else from the menu. A nice addition to Milton!
The restaurant is fairly open from the bar to the dining area. There was still
a party going on from the afternoon, and because it rained, everyone was inside
still at the bar, including at least 10 very small and LOUD children. The noise
level was the worst I've ever been at; couldn't hear the person across the small
table from me. The waitress was slow; she was attending to the party. She
took our appetizer order, but never took our entree order until 1 hour later,
which meant we were there forever. We, and another table, complained to the
management. Would NEVER eat there again. Food was mediocre.
