We were sorry to hear that 8407 Kitchen bar has closed.
Sad to see this great restaurant closing. We had great food and service. Nice ambiance and good place for conversation.
Just discovered this restaurant and they are closing this weekend. Looking forward to their reincarnation soon!!!
Absolutely fantastic, however, the business has closed. It is a real shame and I hope the owners find a way to reopen elsewhere.
I'm so sorry that 8407 is closing in a few days. We've eaten here once or twice a year since it opened. After a dip 2-3 years ago, it has risen to the heights again. About 4 days before the end, the food and service were as good or better than ever. This is a real loss for our area.
We like to go to 8407 kitchen bar for special occasions, and we were saddened to see that they are closing their doors later this month! We are at least glad we got to go one last time (for our anniversary) before it closed. We hope another establishment that does as good a job with offering interesting drinks, tasty seasonal foods, and a yummy cheese plate will take over in the same spot in downtown Silver Spring. We need places like this in Silver Spring!
PLEASE, 8407, DON'T LEAVE SILVER SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!
Service was off as they are closing next week. My food was serviced late and was cold.
We are very sorry that this restaurant will be closing soon!
Awesome place. Just can't understand why they are closing however.
Canned beets in a salad, low grade crab in crab cake, dry duck breast, tough hanger steak; the duck fat fries were great. Understand why it is closingl
Great salads for lunch and we would come back except they are closing in a week!
Food was pretty good but not great. Pleasant atmosphere. Good service.
Great food and service, but the reason to come on Friday nights is the guy playing keyboards. He's incredible. He's goes between genres and one song grows out of another. He's original, inspired, and you leave with a warm feeling and an even deeper appreciation of music. From Rachmaninoff to I Dream of Jeannie, you'll have a great Friday night with music, great food, and great service!
You must try:
Pork belly bites
Ginger lime martini
Duck fat fries
Grilled chicken sandwich
Flavorful, filling, superb!
A shadow of what it once was. What a disappointment. Service failed over and over again during this lackluster meal. "Forgot" 1/4 of the brunch cocktails. Brought the wrong entree. for the same guest whose drink was forgotten. (Should I take this personally?) When the shrimp and grits that had been ordered but forgotten were finally delivered, the grits were an inedible block of library paste because they were a rushed do-over. No "how was everything" during the meal, so I had no opportunity to give feedback until the plate clearing. False promise of "I'll make this right" = no visit from manager, no adjustment to bill. It's no surprise they're discontinuing brunch; it's a hot mess.
I absolutely love this restaurant. The food is excellent. The service is exceptional. The feel of the restaurant is great for a night just for two, a special occasion, or a business dinner. We had a wonderful time.
Personell were very attentive. They were very helpful. Wine special was fantastic! Price was reasonable and parking fantastic.
I have been here twice both times for Sunday brunch. It is a convenient location and cute place and the food and service is good and you cannot beat the value of the brunch - drink and 3 course meal for $30!
Nice to go to a place where quality is consistent, no disappointments.
I've always received great service, great food and great drinks when I come to 8407. Get the duck fat fries!! What more could you ask for???
As always, the Kitchen Bar delivers on innovative, flavorful food with good service in an appealing, somewhat casual environment.
8407 kitchen bar is a lot of restaurant in a very small space. The view is not scenic, as it overlooks a metro station with a busy bus stop, but the interior is smart and has a lot of natural light. I had a first meeting, and we had a lot of ground to cover. The service was appropriately slow, to allow us plenty of time to talk and make our selections. The roast salmon with seasonal vegetables in white wine butter sauce was generous, perfectly cooked and delicious. I would have liked some sauce over the dish and on the plate, instead of the way it was served--in a bowl with an inch or more of sauce. My companion was from out of state and ordered crab cakes because he'd never had them. They looked good.
Great hip, fun place. Wonderful service, good food. Lot's of gluten free items on menu.
We love it here, great food and, Friday nights, the keyboardist is awesome. Start with the ginger martini and follow your nose!
We were looking forward to brunch so much but the food was really just not well done. Two of us had a benedict - poached eggs were hard, potatoes that went with it were cold, the muffins soggy with water from the eggs. The crabcake benedict had an Old Bay cream sauce they said but instead it came in a weird sauce with sweet peppers (and that sauce base wasn't cream I swear). Couldn't taste the Old Bay, just an overwhelming pepper taste. I wouldn't have minded if peppers had been mentioned in the menu as then I wouldn't have ordered it.
The berries came in a sweet syrup. Just completely unnecessary to add sugar imho
They gave us 3 more bowls of hot potatoes just as we finished the meals. They also had peppers in them.
The bill for 3 people with one glass of mimosa was over $70. Sorely disappointed in this restaurant. I've been coming since they opened but will never return for brunch that's for sure.
The menu is kind of all over the place like its not sure what it wants to be. But everything we ordered was excellent, especially the crab cake.
Have been there about 5/6 times since my son started going to UMD... this time they were out of the bread they usually serve and the menus seemed to change there was no artichoke spinach dip and the chicken Madeira had too much cheese and no option for steak Madeira
The rest of the food was delicious though
A bit too noisy for my crowd of mature ladies. Hard to hear each other talk. Food was OK, nothing to write home about. Trout was well-cooked.
We come to this restaurant to celebrate milestones and special occasions. We love the warm, soft ambiance and the privacy of the large booths upstairs. The menu is excellent and we were pleased to take advantage of half price wine night on Mondays. The servers are friendly and attentive without trying to up-sell or guilt you into ordering the most expensive dishes on the menu. The food and wine speaks for itself.
