On the night we visited (Friday), there was a gentleman playing keyboards. Very pleasant! Keep this guy. Sorry I didn't get his name.
We had a terrible experience for Sunday Brunch. We arrived 1/2 EARLY for our reservation. We were seated immediately. We ordered a cold appetizer and it took 45 minutes to get to our table. We spoke to the manager who told us that they were backed up with a 40 person reservation -- but the table next to us got their food faster than we did. When the food finally arrived, my order was correct but my husband's was someone else's order. It took another 20 minutes for them to bring him a grilled cheese sandwich and the cheese wasn't even melted. We finally had to leave to get to another appointment. In total we were in the restauarnt for an hour and a half with only a cold appetizer. The manager took care of the check, but it was still a terrible experience all the way around.
Birthday brunch. Good!
I was disappointed. First the pork belly appetitizer that I was eager to try was not available. I ended up getting salmon belly bites which were ok but nothing special. The duck leg was dry and not very hot but the duck breast was delicious. I didn't like the grain dish served with the dish and some of the green beans were not cooked enough. The flourless chocolate cake was very (too) rich seeming more like a truffle than a cake. It had no character and so I didn't finish it because it wasn't worth the calories. The decaf carpaccino was very good as was the cava. The service was superb and the atmosphere was very cozy and nice. Overall because I didn't find the food that great I will not return or recommend to anyone.
It's almost a gastro pub....
Very nice hidden little gem of a restaurant. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Menu has options for every pallet. Overall happy with my visit and I plan on returning very soon.
Brunch was great. Good service, great food. Great atmosphere.
Only our 2nd time here and definitely will come back!
The chicken enchilada was very dry. The sides that come with it were also dry (rice and beans) which made it hard to eat.
Service was quite poor as we could not get the attention of waiters. After waiting for a long time one of us had to get up and go to them to request things they should have brought already such as small plates for appetizers, bread and butter, etc. Will not return.
Food was EXCELLENT. Server was perfect. We went early and plan to go again. 'Nuff said.
We always enjoy the Kitchen Bar! It's nice to know we don't have to travel to Bethesda to get creative cuisine and an upscaled setting.
Soup and the fries were delicious but cold. Would have shared this concern with the server but she didn't check back after our food was served until the end of the meal. Unfortunately, this happens frequently at Kitchen Bar.
Crab cake was a bit disappointing, but the scallops were excellent.
Or experience would have been much better had our waiter ever come over to us. He did not deliver our food or even refill our drinks. Had we not paid he never would known.
Great, cozy and romantic atmosphere. Mussels were great. My date's Oyster Po Boy was delicious, but my crab cake sandwich was nothing to write home about. Too much sauce, too many fillers, a bit too salty for my tastes. Not BAD, just not as great as the other dishes we had ordered. Beautiful ambiance and great staff though! And plenty of wines to choose from.
Really nice ambiance, and both the food and the service were great! Will definitely recommend!
We went for my father's birthday and changed our reservation from 6 to 7 people. The restaurant was VERY busy, but gave us a spot at the bar to gather and then a generously sized table that fit our needs perfectly. Food was quick and good!
Enjoyed a quiet brunch. The eggs were perfectly locked and the salmon grilled just right. Wonderful meal.
Great place to get together with friends. Great menu; especially the small plates.
Extensive menu with many options, friendly, attentive and professional service, good food for a very reasonable price.
I've been to 8407 KB on a number of occasions. I've always liked the food but my one complaint was that the Sunday brunch menu was somewhat limited. Well they have fixed that problem, and it is now my new favorite brunch spot. They now offer a $30 brunch that includes an appetizer, a main course, a dessert and your choice of a mimosa, bloody mary or orange juice. There are many choices in each category. I had the beet and goat cheese salad, crabcake benedict, and key lime pie. My friends had the deviled eggs, shrimp and grits and the bread pudding. Everyone raved about the food! I'll be going back soon.
We've been here a couple times but this past time the drinks were not very good. Not sure if it was a new bartender or what, but we were disappointed. Food was good though!
Had a sister-date with my Big Sis to celebrate our accomplishments this year thus far!
Good ambience. Excellent food preparation and presentation. Very good service.
Excellent services, wonderful menu and delicious food. Well presented and prepared. Attentive staff. Would def. recommend and return.
Brunch was nice, we both enjoyed our meals.
The live music was enough to make me leave the bar! Fortunately, we had left the bar for the upstairs before they started.
More vegetarian éntres, please. Try getting creative. Good veggie does not mean drowning the dish in heavy cream. think outside the French Classical box.
Lunch was delicious as usual.
We have enjoyed this place several times. I remembered a cocktail on the menu some years ago. The server could not recall it but they tried to reconstruct it from my memory. It was not the same but it was also very good and I appreciated the customizing. The food has always been very good. This time we both had salmon with a lemon butter sauce that cried out to be mopped up with the french bread.
The team was amazing. We had a group dinner that grew larger then we expected and the General Manager, Constance did an awesome job of making ever accommodation. The service all around was top notch.
After 45 minutes waiting for our appetizer, the waitress dropped some bread on our table and told us our appetizer would be out shortly and walked away. At that point we decided to leave.
great as after-movie dinner place.....good fresh ingredients; good sauces
the singer in the bar downstairs was phenomenal!
Been going here for 5 years. Never disappointed. Excellent Manhattan at the bar. Our waiter, Todd, was right on point. My wife loved the Eggplant "sandwich" which used grilled eggplant as the bread.
Great pork belly bites. The steak and cheese sandwich is very good, as is the chicken sandwich.
The food was very good, the noise level in one part was very loud, we were near a large party though. The service was a little slow.
Great food. Every time I come back I always ask why I don't go back more often. One of the best restaurants in downtown SS.
Valentine's Day dinner date. Location, ambience, and service very good. Dinner choices were a set menu and price, so the preparation and freshness of food did not meet expectation. Overall, a nice evening with my date
We like the Kitchen Bar and go there for special occasions. We had an early reservation because the normal times were booked for Valentines Day. The wait person was inexperienced but friendly and tried her best. We were rushed and had just gotten started on our appetizer when they brought our entrees. Our best experiences here have been sitting at the bar for a more casual dinner or appetizers. Don't think I'd go back for Valentines Day, and any other special day since they seem to jack the prices up and give you less options than usual.
Started with drinks at the very friendly bar staffed with seriously creative and dedicated bartenders. Lively conversations going on between other patrons. Moved upstairs to the comfortable dining room. Service remained excellent. My scallops were exceptional. Overall, great experience in an area not known for its dining offerings.
We've been eating here since the restaurant first opened and over the past year it's unfortunately gone down hill. Too many mediocre food choices on the menus instead of focusing on a few superior entree choices.
