Above all, it’s Vincenzo’s love of people that makes 83 ½ what it is: a warm, welcoming place where friends and families share their passion for food and familiar faces. We can’t wait for your family to meet ours.
vegetarian eggplant parmesan meatballs, melted burrata, parmesan

One of our favorite NYC restaurants. Outstanding food and service. So good to be back!
Delicious food and great wine selection! We were seated near the wall and the waiter had to reach over us multiple times during our meal to grab a wine bottle from the shelf- which was interruptive. Prices are a little high for the serving sizes too. The clams and linguine are amazing!
Wonderful homemade pasta dishes with a lovely, large wine selection to pair.
We had a very enjoyable evening. The welcome at the door was warm and honored our reservation. The wait staff was attentive offering drinks. We were not rushed to order our meal. Food was delicious and came out appropriately after our order. Food was hot and well presented. Wait staff offered to bag our left overs. Dessert was very good. The bill was fair and reasonable. The over all experience was one which will lead us to return in the future.
Overall mediocre. We don’t normally get Italian as we have very high expectations given excellent family cooking in this cuisine and so maybe our views are biased. The fettuccine bolognese was below average and reminded us of Chef Boyardee. The deserts were good and were the highlight of the evening.
My favorite neighborhood restaurant where I enjoy romantic dinners, business meetings and casual get together with friends and family. Love it!
Love this restaurant. A neighborhood gem. The food is delicious and it’s not trendy and loud!!
83 and 1/2 is a neighborhood gem that never disappoints. No matter what you order, you can count on the fact that it will be delicious and I have eaten here many times.
Very good food! Would recommend
Very indifferent service given the restaurant was nearly empty when we dined. Didn't put wine in cooker. Never offered to refill glasses. Plunked dessert menus down in a pile and fan off without asking if we even wanted dessert. Took forever to get a check. Totally inattentive. However, food is always delicious.
Delicious food and wine. The atmosphere was warm and vibrant.
To be honest I've been here before and the food has been Better. Also my waiter could have have been alittle nicer. He insisted to move my bags into a different location due to the minimum amount of space, and I understood. But he moved them near the front door where there was the most traffic to get the linen forks and knives and food. Once the night was over, he was not so nice in helping me get the bags. He pointed to the floor and said there they go.
He also didn't even offer me desert after my meal. I really felt like they wanted me leave after we had one round of drinks and 3 bottles of wine plus dinner. Don't think I will ever go there again. I rather have gone to Ginos Pizza next store. Food is better...
Food is always great as well as the service.
They did not honor our reservation and were unapologetic. We walked out and will never go back
We love this restaurant. My wife is a huge food snob and 83 1/2 is always exceptional! Most consistent and reliable place to eat on the Upper East Side.
The food was delicious but we left with stomach aches, most likely because we at it too fast!
My favorite Italian restaurant on the upper east side. Veal chop parmigiana is singularly the best dish on the UES. Great service. Daniel is the best
Delicious food, great service, nice outdoor seating area with heat lamps!
This was the most disappointing restaurant I have been to in a while. To start off, when we get there they asked if we were going to drink and we replied yes. The waiter placed the drink menu on our table, before we even had a chance to look at the menu the waiter asked if we were going to drink anything. Because we did not order drinks on the spot, he took our menu which we then had to ask for again. We were the only people in the restaurant at the time ,so I don’t understand why the waiter was in such a rush. We then try to order our appetizer but were told that “the chef doesn’t like taking orders like that”. Interestingly, the older couple who arrived after us ordered their appetizer first without a problem. When the calamari arrives despite its delicious smell, it tasted so so bland. The red sauce was nothing to rave about either. I was not looking for a refund but the waiter did not ask if there was anything wrong with the food despite us leaving a lot of it on the plate and refusing to take it home. If I had tried the calamari before ordering dinner I would not have ordered their Lobster and Crab ravioli alla Vodka, like everything else it was below average. (I also didn’t finish much of that). My friend ordered the bolognese which was better but the meat to pasta ratio was way off. I would definitely not go again, and would not recommend it.
we love this restaurant—-all good
Worst birthday dinner ever!!! Upon timely arrival, the waiter told me I reserved an outdoor table & I told him that I made a 7:00 reservation for indoor/standard dining. Then Daniel, who told us “he was in charge” would prepare our table in a minute. We waited outside as 3 other parties arrived after us & they were immediately seated inside by Daniel. When I asked him why, Daniel told us “that’s the way it is and take it or leave it.”He lacked professionalism and propriety and he was so rude!!! This made for an unpleasant birthday dinner with our family. Additionally, the restaurant claimed we were a no show to Open Table which Open Table quickly resolved & corrected.
Good night… took a while to get food though. very busy on a friday night
Food always very good with inventive menu. Vaccine cards checked but tables very close with people just 2 or 3 feet from each other. Chefs can be seen from dining room and although working very, very hard, they were NOT wearing masks.
Made us very uncomfortable. Vaccine cards prove Covid is not over and no table distancing with chefs not wearing masks is not really acceptable if you care about Covid.
A popular neighborhood with an inventive an reasonabke ltaiian menu
Good food & wine, everything was so fresh!! Always wonderful service!
Great neighborhood place. Have been a customer for many years, and I have yet to be disappointed
Four at dinner, with different main courses, and everyone said their dish was very good. I had the chicken cardinal special and it was perfect. I also had a dessert, creme brulee, and it was also perfectly served, warm and delicious.
Waiters were very busy, but managed to get the plates on the table in good time, although I was glad we were there early.
A good, solid neighborhood restaurant, with a lively crowd inside as well as at the outdoor dining space, with reliably well-prepared meals. Wine list is reasonable. Recommended!
The ambience a bit high on volume (loud crowd). Inside was packed wall to wall...outside was full as well. Ate outside. Service was pretty awful. At best it appeared that the staff was overwhelmed by the number of customers yet it looked as if they had enough waiters to do the job. whether it was a problem in the kitchen related to staffing or supplies of food? Who knows. Reminded me of the Larry David episode about "A disturbance in the kitchen. Took us two hours before the food we'd ordered arrived at the table. Took about a half hour to get the appetizer before that. Nice looking place but staff bordered on rude and considering the price (not cheap) overall a big disappointment.
First time eating here and it was a pleasant surprise. The food was absolutely fantastic. All three of us had a different salad and loved them. The wines were very good. We each had pasta and did not leave one morsel…delicious. The waiter was a bit surely but it was very busy and they seemed to be short staffed. Prices were reasonable for Manhattan and can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend.
Food was delicious and service was very friendly and professional. Also good value.
Absolutely delicious. The Buffalo mozzarella was the freshest I’ve had in a long time. The short rib and pasta was terrific as well. Nice comfortable outdoor seating. A winner.
Great food, great service, good wine, nice sidewalk seating.
Large selection of specials in addition to a very nice menu. Dressing on kale, avocado, apple salad was especially good. Pasta special of spinach fettucine with lobster tail, shrimps, and scallops was very tasty and very reasonably priced. Substituted veal in a chicken dish and was very good. Service was very gracious and helpful. Love the BYO Wednesdays! Overall, very lovely dining experience. Highly recommend.
Food was very good, but the service was very, very slow.
This is one of our routine haunts. Despite the pandemic and associated challenges they have been remarkably consistent. With the new vaccination requirements they have been quite attentive at ensuring safety. The service has always been impeccable with Daniel, his father and uncle always on top of their game. The food and frequent specials are top notch and well prepared. They also have an excellent section of wines.
Overall was fine. Service started really well but disintegrated as the evening progressed. Couldn't get their attention for 10-15min intervals. Was blatantly ignored by 1 waiter. Never got water refilled & couldn't be bothered trying to flag someone down after having to wait other times. I think they need more staff help.
OCTOPUS APPERTISER EXCELLECT. CAVATTELLI PASTA JUST OK, VEAL DISH A DISAPPOINTMENT.
Great food! A little loud but worth it
The food is fantastic especially the sea bass! Daniel and crew are a great team and make this place an absolutely must visit. We come to 83 1/2 at least twice per week from the upper west side for years now. Always a great dining experience. I recommend 83 1/2 without reservation.
Amazing espresso martini. The prosciutto and melon was to die for. Loved the halibut piccata.
