Above all, it’s Vincenzo’s love of people that makes 83 ½ what it is: a warm, welcoming place where friends and families share their passion for food and familiar faces. We can’t wait for your family to meet ours.
This is one of our favorite spots and Sat did not disappoint
We will be back !
It was a surprisingly happy discovery.
The restaurant is located so close wher I live but somehow never thought about trying. Now I’ve done and I will definitely go back.
Wonderful! First time diner, will be back. Food and service excellent.
This is my second time to 8 1/2. First time we had delicious food. This time food was mediocre and bland...the branzino encrusted w zucchini and the chicken Milanese
Service and ambience still good however
Has never been a disappointment. A great neighborhood gem on a quiet street.
Great homemade pasta Greeted at the door by a warm friendly hostess and made us feel right at home
Never have a bad meal there
Daniel was an excellent server and we had an incredible dining experience for our Valentine's date. We had to change bookings last minute because the other restaurant we reserved was understaffed and poorly managed--waited for 10 minutes at the front and no host showed up even once! So we found 83 1/2 up the street and we're even more thrilled we ended up there. We will definitely be back to 83 1/2.
Everything is beyond fresh. Eggplant appetizer is a must. Kitchen is right there, it's small so food comes out fast and hot. When you want al dente - they know what that means. Just all around top notch
Excellent, fresh food carefully prepared and presented. When Daniel is there, it is like dining in your best friend's house, and with a friend who is a true gourmand, and generous drink pourer. My wife and I love to go there after work, as is it a perfect place to unwind and enjoy great food and drink.
My sister and I are both gluten free and we craving some comforting Italian food. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating of our needs and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back!
The expression ‘This is a Find!’ seems very appropriate here. Embarrassed to say we only live 5 blocks away, and only came for the first time last week. We liked it so much, we came back two nights later.
It’s an intimate place with about 15 tables. A terrific ambiance. But best of all...the food.
The pastas are homemade and you can taste and feel the difference. I had the Rigatoni. I didn’t want the pink sauce - I asked for a red, Fra Diavolo instead. They didn’t blink and said whatever I’d like. The dish was OUTSTANDING. And, two nights later I had the same exact dish...and it was consistently perfect.
On our first night, my wife had a beef lentil soup. She raved about it. She’s West Indian and doesn’t rave much about other people’s cooking.
When we called to make another reservation two nights later, we asked about the soup and was told it’s not a part of their regular menu, and would not be served that night. My Mrs was mildly devastated. HOWEVER, the cook still had some of the soup left and they saved it for us. Not sure a restaurant has ever done that before.
Needless to say we are now the restaurant’s biggest fans and will encourage anyone we know when they’re looking for a nice intimate joint with great food and far reaching service.
Reliably excellent! No affect, just a great neighborhood place, even if you're not from the neighborhood.
We decided last minute to make a reservation in the neighborhood. When we arrived at 83 1/2, there were a few tables paying their check. We had to wait 10 minutes - wasn’t a big deal at all but the service was so kind and apologetic. They even gave us glasses of Prosecco while we waited.
We were already impressed by the service, so when we ordered and every single dish was INCREDIBLE, you can imagine how happy we were!
We had the tuscan kale salad that had the most delightful vanilla dressing, oysters oreganata, the parmigiana appetizer was like an eggplant meatball with cheese - so so good. Also, the pacceri alla vodka was a huge hit.
Will be back, the team here was so lovely and the food certainly matched!
Neighborhood gem. Great pastas and wine. Nice ambiance for a night out.
I cannot suggest Wednesday nights more at 83 1/2. I love the staff, the food, the ambiance every single time. The staff is consistent and so helpful, so nice and everything is on time and hot. The Short rib pasta, the Veal parm, its amazing. I go on Wednesdays which are BYOB and have brought back at least four people. I LOVE THIS PLACE
Great neighborhood location. Daniel is an excellent server. Had a great bottle of wine, very comfortable however it was a holiday evening so no one rushed us at all. Thank you.
A very bad meal. From the start, they tried to give us a terrible table. The veal piccata was overly acidic to the point of being virtually inedible. The shrimp in the shrimp scampi was tough as steak and tasted of bleach. Terrible food and expensive to boot.
Pasta dishes were amazing. Definitely get the Burrata!!
Great time. Good food
83 1/2 is a true neighborhood gem. Great pasta and fresh fish.
The best veal chop in town!!
A real addition to the neighborhood. Some dishes are better than others, but in general this is a terrific Italian restaurant that serves delicious food. The atmosphere is great, it's nice but not terribly formal, and not noisy. We love it!
I would not recommend this place to anyone. First off, we made a reservation, and got there 15 minutes before. I told the server, and he said a few minutes. I go back, and 2 people without a reservation are getting seating, because they forgot about me. I wound up getting seated 15 minutes after the reservation. What’s the point of the reservation then? The food was definitely overpriced for the quality. I got the fettuccini Bolognese, and the meat was bland. Definitely not worth the $20; there are better places in the UES. The service wasn’t great. We don’t drink, and after the server asked if we were sure we didn’t want a drink 5 times, we were basically rushed. I guess because they won’t be making as much money off of us. The place is cramped and not in a good way. Everyone is on top of each other, so there’s no room at all. The place is loud for this little one room restaurant. I do not recommend, as there are far better places in the UES for a better price, better food, and a better experience.
We come here all the time. A neighborhood favorite. Food is always fresh and delicious.
Great and friendly service, delicious food and lovely ambience.
83 1/2 is a neighborhood gem. Excellent Italian food, reasonable prices and a great Italian wine list.
Outstanding, Intimate Italian Restaurant. Food was excellent from the Osco Bucco, Pasta Fruitte de Mar, Red Snapper and the Veal Picata . I could go on about the salads, the fried calamari with zucchini and baked clams. Our table location was great and our waiter was wonderful. I would recommend who really likes really good food. Thank you
The appetizers and mains were truly amazing! The desserts were good except the cheesecake was frozen in the middle. However, the waiter excused it from our bill and relayed our feedback to the kitchen. Besides that, the rest of the meal was so great that it wasn't a problem for us. Will definitely be back.
Pleasant comfortable and customer friendly restaurant of the upper East sideManhattan
Diversity of choices with various homemade pasta’s, fish poultry and meat
Attentive waiter service and reasonable prices
The best high end Italian cuisine in NYC at bargain basement prices. The appetizers are extraordinary, as are the pastas and the veal chop parmigiana, in particular.
There is zero atmosphere, but the room is comfortable, the food is great and they pour their drinks with a heavy hand.
We had a wonderful and thankfully quiet dinner. So hard to find a place where you can hear yourself talk! Spinach Gnocchi were amazing. Staff very friendly and polite. Strongly recommend for date night! and other nights!
The food is very good and the waiters are just friendly enough. It’s small and popular so sometimes seating is in areas that are not so comfortable. Overall a very good place to go especially on BYOB Wednesday’s
This is a consistently lovely neighborhood restaurant. Food, ambiance, and service when we dined there most recently were again outstanding.
Excellent dinner, service and ambiance. We had the artichokes which were incredible and I had a simple pasta with a pomodoro sauce and basil.
We took a friend out for her birthday and we were very satisfied with the experience.
This restaurant is very small, but big on being amazing. We enjoyed the BYOB option. The food was delicious, the ambiance friendly and warm. The staff was appropriately solicitous. We have added this restaurant to our list of places to return to. Also, the milieu is such that you can comfortably dine alone. We strongly recommend.
Food and service are always good
Food as good as ever. Found it odd though, that the waiter would not take our first course order until we were ready to order entrees, too. He attributed this to the chef’s preference.
The espresso was not good—just regular dark coffee with a little foam on top. When we complained, the coffee charge was graciously removed from our check. We hope that the espresso maker is serviced before our next visit.
