801 Fish - STL
The food was excellent and the atmosphere was very good. We started w/ the shrimp & cheese grits for an appetizer, it was really good. I had the lobster tail risotto & my husband had the Seabass, both were excellent, we also ordered a side of the jalapeño sweet potato au gratin, it was amazing!
I would definitely recommend 801 Fish & can’t wait to go back!
Service was first class. Food was delicious. Dining experience took two hours. Felt no pressure to vacate the table for the next guest.
Beautiful restaurant with friendly and professional staff! I loved dining at the raw bar and enjoyed meeting the managers and chefs. The food was delicious and wine list is a perfect compliment to the fresh flavors. Don’t miss the Crudo and Tuna Tartar! I will definitely be back.
Great dinner on a week day! Yummy signature oysters and a nearly perfect Chilean sea bass. It was a bit too crispy for such a succulent fish but I loved the asparagus and mushrooms. We enjoyed a great brut, bubbly rose.
Staff at the Ritz-Carlton recommended this restaurant. They were right. Additionally there was a wonderful reasonably priced Sunday night 3-Course Prix Fixe menu, which offered scallops, swordfish, or salmon with a choice of three preparations. I chose swordfish with Asian Stir-fry. My husband had swordfish with root vegetables. Both were yummy, as were the chowder and key lime semi-freddo we had for dessert. I loved the décor -- sparkly white with blue shell overhead light fixtures and an open kitchen. Plenty of room here. Our server was very attentive. We consider it a real find.
Wonderful meal, service and wine selection. Would definitely recommend.
Awesome all the way around.
Wonderfully extensive menu. Options for everyone at every price point. Best tuna tartare, anywhere! Everything I’ve tasted from soup to lobster and all happy hour offerings has been perfectly prepared and delicious. The desserts are the best kept secret. Unique and delicious and they change with the seasons.
Branzino and lobster risotto tonight. Top seafood restaurant in St. Louis. Service was outstanding.
Waiter was a superstar- professional, genuine, well educated on the menu and wine list.
The seafood was very good...........Got to try the fried clams if you are from New England! Only down side would be the price of the wines by the glass...........
The Sunday Prix Menu is a great value, the service is top notch
Fantastic! Swordfish was cooked to perfection. Wine selection is awesome. Service staff are so attentive. Such a great place for date night!
Outstanding dining experience! Everything I tasted was decadent, and our server was top notch. The restaurant itself is beautiful, though a bit noisy (but it was a Saturday night). I'll definitely be back!
Everything thing was very good, but for those prices, it must be great.
The place looks great, our server was really nice. The food piece was just ok, we’ve had much better at these prices and kind of expected a bit more.
Excellent service and food was wonderful. Highly recommend 891 Fish...
Wonderful way to celebrate a Birthday! Will dine there again!
Very enjoyable evening. Nice pleasant environment.
Sea bass and swordfish were not good
Octopus and striped bass!
Enjoyed the experience
Our waitress was excellent. She was pleasant and knowledgeable. Our dinners were outstanding. My husband had the scallops and I had the branzino which we both thoroughly enjoyed! The grilled oysters were excellent. Our favorites were the butter and Parmesan garlic. The pace of the meal gave us time to enjoy each other’s company and savor each course.
Menu is very nice. Plent of options without being overwelming. Staff is friendly helpful and attentive. Everything for our table turned out great! Very nice experience. We will be back!
Amanda & Sam were completely friendly, capable & accommodating with their service.
The lobster tail is the best along w the Brussels.
If I had to critique anything for improvement, would be the salads on the menu. 1. My wedge happened to be heavy on the dressing (1st time this has happened. & 2. & more importantly is that in this day & age, customers are more attuned into nutrition. Iceberg lettuce is a waste, having zero nutritional value. At least update the wedge w a wedge of Romain or Boston Bibb. Also, please add a salad on the menu w field greens, or any other darker greens, spinach, kale, arugula. It’s such a fantastic restaurant with such a disappointing salad selection.
Food and service was excellent. Great value. Best seafood I have ever head
Amazing! Love 801 Fish
The food was absolutely amazing! Everything came out so quickly! We got a strip and it was perfectly medium rare, and the Chilean Sea bass was above my expectations! The noise level started to turn up after about 630 so if you are looking for a quiet dinner make sure you plan accordingly.
A very nice-looking space. Very sleek and modern. My wife's Sea Bass was superb and the Ahi Tartare was a great start to the evening. My Lobster Risotto, however, was disappointing. The risotto itself was pedestrian and the one-half lobster tail was devoid of any flavor other than salt. It was also overcooked, tough and stringy. I was disappointed that there were few fresh fish options other than the standard fare at most seafood places. (Salmon, Swordfish, Sea Bass, etc.) Heavy emphasis on shellfish and crustaceans. Sides are ala carte and enough to share. The Oyster list is impressive.
I have been here before when it first opening and it was very different. It appeared to be very understaffed. We were not kindly greeted, we waited at least 5 minutes for our server to stop by for water. It seemed like the whole meal took 2x longer than it should have. The tomato’s on my salad were spoiled. The server took forever to clear any dirty plates. The sea bass I had was mediocre at best. It sure did not taste fresh. In fact I have had better fish at Long Horn. I could tell that there wasn’t a busser, and the manager seemed to be having a conflict with a guest very loudly at the table behind us regarding a booth. It wears very awkward to witness. The best thing about dinner was the desert! Is didn’t taste fresh but it was very good.
The fish was good, but seriously overpriced. The lobster risotto was very disappointing- lobster in the shell tasted smoky and was a little over cooked
Food was very good. Service was excellent. Décor were very nice. Food was a bit pricy but would come again. Sincerely, RES
Quite simply the finest seafood available in the area. Ambiance, service and dishes were all impeccable. Unless you are an amateur sommelier or want to go with their suggestion I recommend bringing your own. The corkage fee is minimal and the wine list is so extensive trying to decide can be a daunting task. This will be a very expensive meal but for those with a discerning palate it is well worth it to get seafood that was in the ocean less than 36 hrs ago in the midwest.
I thought the food was very good and the service good as well. Our table was not in a great place, lot of kitchen traffic to parts beyond us and noisy as well since we were the first table as you entered the dining area. I would not want this location if I ever have a chance to go there again.
Food and service were outstanding, oysters were extremely fresh and I liked their Cesar salad!
The 801 Fish House had fantastic food. There were 6 people in our party and we waited for long periods of time in between cocktails and found ourselves pouring our own wine. For an $800 meal the service was not great. For an upscale restaurant the service was sub par. The manager and host did a poor job of greeting us when we walked in and getting us to our reserved table. We go out to dinner 2-3 times a week and expect friendly and welcoming staff. Our compliments go out to the chef, despite poor service we really enjoyed the delicious food.
