The carpaccio was salty and my steak I asked for
Medium and it was med well.
The waitress asked and I wasn’t going to send back because did not want my wife to eat alone.
The service was excellent as usual.
I like 801 but at their price point they should always be
Will go back because best atmosphere for steak in the Lou.
Tried Capitol Grill and for $$
Food and service was excellent....!!!!
Everything was outstanding. Have had better escargot but everything else was above average.
As first time customers to 801 Chop House, our dinner service and food were excellent. We arrived early and decided to have a cocktail before dinner. The bartender was not overly friendly and the drink menu was pretty limited. I ordered a Lemon Drop martini and my husband ordered a Crown on the rocks. With tip, our drinks were $32.00. Often when having a martini they will leave the rest of the drink in the shaker for you to add to your drink. It was good, however, I feel like they were a little overpriced. All in all it was a good experience, and we are likely to go back for a special occasion.
This is the premier steakhouse in St Louis. The service, ambience, and food is exceptional. My wife and I look forward to visiting 801 Chop house again.
Noise level was somewhat high, making conversation difficult. It was Saturday and crowed. However, the quality of food, wine, service was over the top.
Both the food and service were excellent. Will definitely return.
From pulling up to valet parking, to drinks, the meal, leaving and everything in between everything was absolutely amazing.
For my birthday I wanted to try a new restaurant and decided to try 801 chophouse. I had a lot of family and friends recommend this restaurant. However, I was really disappointed that the staffed wasn't engaging. I would like to try it again but I don't know if I would want to spend the money on an "ok" experience.
98 out of 100 stars. Sear on steak could have been better (still outstanding) and the old fashion was served with small ice cubes, not a fan of watered down old fashions (asked for big cube on second drink and got it) .
I'd recommend this to every person that likes fine dining .
It was very good, however we felt that the food was overpriced.
This was our 7th or 8th trip to 801. The waiter recognized us, knew that we would order quickly, dine, and leave. As usual, 801 did not disappoint.
The food was delectable! Large portions, great bursts of flavor.
The food was excellent but the noise was too loud. We will return for another dinner
The service was excellent. My waiter was very professional and friendly. The steak was the best I have ever had.
Our waiter, Bob Tucci made our experience worth it all. Bob’s knowledge and attention to detail is amazing. He alone is worth going there for a meal.
The food was great, server was a bit condescending, and the lighting was SO incredibley dark. Every table had their cell phone flash lights out to see the menu. It was strange to be so dark.
Good food and great service, but dark and overpriced.
Amazing is the best word for this steak house! My husband and I had an amazing date! We will definitely be back
Excellent service! Prime rib was delicious!
It was pouring down rain and when I arrived I was informed by the valet that he didn’t drive a stick shift and asked me to valet across the street at 801 Fish. So I pulled around to that valet and was told the same thing and that I had to park in the garage up the street. It was also very windy and by the time I reached the door of the restaurant I was pretty wet. I was surprised that such a high-end restaurant would not have valets that can park all cars.
We got oysters to share amongst the three of us and one fork with no one in sight to ask for more. We had to order our entrees twice because our waiter took two of the three orders while we were waiting for the last person to show up and then forgot. We had to ask someone to track down one of our side dishes. In all, the was good but at $100 plus tip per person; I expected a lot better service.
Delicious steaks, but the boursin mashed potatoes are the star.
Went in for a late valentines dinner. The food was amazing as always and our server Danny was outstanding.
Bread and lobster corn chowder was yummy. Salad was eh. Cocktail shrimp was good. Wasn't a fan of the salad, cocktail king crab or the oysters, so pretty bummed about that. Don't think their food is up to par with other comparable restaurants.
Fabulous food and service as usual. Always impressed with their consistency.. Especially enjoyed dining in one of the private dining rooms as we were with two persons hard of hearing.
My husband and I are just not fond of how they prepare their steaks. They are overly peppered and seared with such a thick burnt crust that you can’t taste the actual steak at all. (I got the filet and he got the ribeye.) The sides were good but nothing amazing. It’s just a shame to ruin a good cut of meat the way they do. Probably won’t return.
I want to share our evening at this establishment. Amazing would be how I begin. We arrived a little early to enjoy a cocktail at the bar. The kettle-one slightly dirty, super cold martini was close to the best ever I’ve consumed! We were summoned to our table where Josh would be taking care of our dining experience. This is our first visit so we wanted the entire presentation of the steaks available both on and not on the menu. Don’t pass up this part. Once we chose the 12 oz filet medium rare to share ,the mushrooms, and the hash browns, the staff favorite, we chatted for a bit but just long enough to glance over the extensive wine list. We pick a favorite of ours the Bella Glos Pinot. $75 which is very very reasonable for this bottle. The food was presented to us in about 15 minutes and the carnage ensued. Probably one of the top 5 meals we have consumed in my 55 years!!! Then to finish with a slice of carrot cake to share... Wow!! We are out of town travelers but will be back for this establishment soon. Enjoy and ask for Josh as your server...
Service and food were top notch. A little on the pricey side, but well worth it.
Best steak I’ve ever had! I had the bone in ribeye, cooked “medium”. I love the fact that the only ingredients used were salt and pepper. While expensive, $64.00, it was definitely worth it. We knew going in it would be expensive. The sides were somewhat expensive, but generous helpings.
Great service great food. My wife’s steak was pretty rare. She orders medium rare everywhere we go this was much more on the rare side. Other than that everything was great. Surprised that a steak house like this would have trouble getting meat temp right.
The food was very good, yet expensive. The restaurant was very loud, and all of the booths basically circled the bar, which was quite noisy. Most of the tables that were away from the bar were for larger parties.
Service was awesome. Food was perfectly prepared. It was a little noisier than I remember.
This restaurant was really great! The food, service, and atmosphere was fantastic. I will definitely be back
We had a wonderful waitress who made it a great Valentine dinner. Food was excellent. Valet gets low marks, however. See you again soon..
Terrific steak -- bone-in Filet, and got the marrow-butter sauce (yes, it's as tasty as it sounds!). Pork also really good. Sides of Brussel Sprouts and hash browns with aged cheddar, all really great. It's an expensive place, but I've been to lots of expensive places that don't give food nearly this terrific. Be ready to spend, but be ready to be happy!
Outstanding service an perfect business ambiance. The top place for food in St. Louis! Grab a drink at the bar before dinner. Perfectly crafted cocktails and a vibrant bar scene.
There were 8 of us and we all had the Sunday dinner special, which was very good. We were there for a birthday celebration and I included that info with our reservation, but there was no mention of it by our server. In fact, the service was fine, but our server was edgy and a little rude at times. He seemed like he was flustered when the place got busy. The only other minor inconvenience was the noise level. I had heard from a client that she doesn't go there because it is tough to have a conversation. We were seated at a round table and had to really raise our voices; at times, to be heard across the table.
Everything was nice except our filet and mashed potatoes were over salted that’s my only compliant but, they were kind enough to Comp us because it was VERY salty.
Food is good. Service is good. Over priced drinks.
