801 Chophouse Leawood Ratings and Reviews
We knew that this restaurant was quite expensive so chose to go during KC Restaurant Week and select from the special menu. The food was excellent and the service was very good. The meat portions were fairly generous but he sides were small. On the regular menu, everything is ala carte, so you can run up the bill really fast as the sides are pricey. The restaurant was a bit noisy for our taste, but we do like quiet places. The wine list is extensive, but VERY OVERPRICED. There is nothing on the wine list under $50 and most wines are at least $100 or more. The markup on the wines is excessive, compared to other restaurants we frequent. We ended up ordering a bottle of wine that cost $65 at this restaurant and that I know costs $20-25 in a store. It is a good wine and we enjoyed it with our meal. I don’t mind a reasonable mark up for the establishment, but over 100% markup is excessive. They do allow you to bring in your own wine and they will charge a $25 corkage fee. I highly recommend this option-you will save a lot of money! This is an excellent restaurant and has some things on their menu that I don’t find anywhere else. We may return to try a few of the unique items, but for a regular steak dinner, there are other places that are just as good and not nearly as expensive.
We dined here for restaurant week! Viorel Vida was our waiter. He was outstanding. He recommended the lamb and the lobster bites for appetizers to go with our meals. The lobster bites were out of this world. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Steaks were cooked to order and we were never made to feel like they were in a rush although the restaurant was packed when we left. Definitely recommend!
Went in expecting an awesome experience as it is Restaurant Week in Kansas City. When the food was served, my wife's steak was under cooked and my pork chop was dry, not juicy. The service was fine, but the premium prices that they charge here should dictate that the food come out of the kitchen prepared correctly. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
Excellent food in quiet elegance. Every element of the meal was well prepared from the highest quality ingredients. Filet was perfect medium rare, and super tender. Tomato bisque well seasoned, but not too spicey. Cheesecake good, standard fare. Creme brulee, on the other hand, superb, perfect carmelization of top.
Decor is old style club, but white table clothes and perfect service from knowledgable staff place it in the category of elegance.
I discovered this restaurant when a friend took me to dinner while she was on a business trip. We had a fabulous time and celebrated our long friendship surrounded by the dark wood, great service, and excellent wine.
Years later this spot would become a source of celebration with my children and parents- new houses, graduations, and anything BIG! If you'd like to have a lovely dinner with impeccable service and food, 801 Chophouse in Leawood is the place! Chris is a great waiter and instantly makes everyone comfortable. (Although Eric in the Omaha, NE location is a favorite person for me and my love!)
The steak presentation is wonderful and gives an idea on choices. I think we have tried every appetizer and loved them all with lobster bites a favorite. The salads are always fresh, and you can't beat the bacon on the wedge.
I've never been a big fan of additions to steak. However, I have to say that the bone marrow butter bath is perfection on top of the ribeye. Eric comped my first attempt, and I've been coming back for more ever since- smart sales man.
The house made sorbets never disappoint in the house of desserts. Enjoy!
(side note: My love and I celebrated a very special occaision this past weekend and noted it as such on Open Table. When we arrived, a special table had been set with a printed and personalized menu based on our celebration. Way to go! It's this type of service that always has me choosing 801 Chophouse in Leawood!)
We went for New Year’s eve dinner with the siblings and their spouses. Had a great time! Server was very nice, knowledgeable, and attentive. She never rushed us even though the restaurant was closed. Food was great! My husband loved their dry aged steak. Crab cakes were a little salty and my pasta was a little bland. But overall it was very enjoyable.
I wanted to like this place. For a steak house that charges 5 star prices you would think the steak would be top notch. Just average. Service was very good. Wine list was good too. I don’t think I would go back. Disappointed would be the best word to describe meal
Great steak house with a decent seafood menu as well. The steak, while high priced as expected, was very good, great cuts, prepared perfectly. The sides, while ala carte, are fairly big and good for 2 at least. The service is very good, knowledgeable server who also did a good job pacing our meal as we wanted. Overall a great experience again.
